The advertisement depicts Veyssi in women’s clothing complaining about dry skin. Mr. Veyssi, who co-hosts an Amazon Prime chat show and has over a million followers, uses the pronouns he/him and they/them. The question is why Google is employing a non-binary dude in a dress to promote Christmas shopping. In a statement to Fox Business, Google backed Mr. Veyssi, stating that everyone enjoys finding a good deal and saving money.
In November, Jaguar, the luxury automaker, attracted widespread criticism for a redesign that included androgynous models. Google’s advertising staff might want to take a long, hard look at what happened when Bud Light, Target, and Disney got woke. Simply Google it.
