This ultimately boils down to a fundamental question that ought to steer the life of every Christian:

What would Jesus do?

Not “What actions would my political party take?” Not “What would serve my financial interests?” Not “What would my preferred commentator express?”

What would Jesus do?

Would Jesus reduce food stamps for hungry children to finance tax cuts for billionaires?

Would Jesus revere wealth and power?

Would Jesus say that the poor are deserving of their suffering?

Would Jesus construct barriers to exclude refugees?

Would Jesus advocate for violence against His adversaries?

The answer is already known to you. The answer has always been clear to you.

The question is: Do you have the courage to follow Him even when it requires a sacrifice? Is it still necessary to acknowledge when you’ve made a mistake? Even when your friends, family, and political tribe turn their backs on you for it?
