Caring for children is spoken of highly in the Bible. For example, James 1:27 says that caring for children in need pleases God: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Ephesians 6:4 says, “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” Psalm 127:3 calls children “a heritage from the Lord.” Jesus’ interactions with children (notably in Matthew 18) demonstrate the value God places on them. The Bible speaks often about caring for the weak, poor, and needy—and this would include at-risk children (Proverbs 14:3117:519:1731:8–9). Followers of Christ are consistently called to love others. Molesting a child can in no way be mistaken for love.

Maria Rudnitskaya, 21, brought her daughter Arina, 2, to the Children Polyclinic №15 in Moscow, Russia, and left the child sitting by a doctor’s office.

Next several hours Arina waited for her mother’s return but she never came back, reports say.

Medical stuff suspected something was wrong and asked the girl where were her parents.

But Arina could not reply because of poorly developed speech.

The child was examined by doctors and taken to an infectious diseases hospital with a cold.

Meanwhile, the police found the girl’s mother after spotting her in the video from surveillance cameras.

Rudnitskaya was found within 24 hours and detained.

‘DECIDED TO GET RID OF HER’

During a police interrogation, the mother confessed in full saying that she abandoned her little daughter because “she wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend”.

The mother also said that “she got tired of taking care of the girl and decided to get rid of her”.

Moscow Investigative Committee spokesperson said: “After leaving her daughter, the mother came out of the polyclinic and approached her boyfriend waiting outside.

“Then they went home in an attempt to get rid of the girl.

“The mother was wearing a medical mask in order not to be identified.”

ABANDONED BY YOUNG MUM

Police launched an investigation on leaving in danger and failure to fulfil parental duties against Rudnitskaya, who is an Ukrainian citizen.

Reports say the woman has been living in Moscow for five years.

Recently she divorced her husband and moved in with a new 27-year-old boyfriend.

Arina’s grandmother Natalia Rudnitskaya wants to get custody of the girl, local media report.

A source at Investigative Committee said: “The grandmother saw the girl in news on television and contacted the police. Source

Evil is usually thought of as that which is morally wrong, sinful, or wicked; however, the word evilcan also refer to anything that causes harm, with or without the moral dimension. The word is used both ways in the Bible. Anything that contradicts the holy nature of God is evil (see Psalm 51:4). On the flip side, any disaster, tragedy, or calamity can also be called an “evil” (see 1 Kings 17:20, KJV).

Evil behavior includes sin committed against other people (murder, theft, adultery) and evil committed against God (unbelief, idolatry, blasphemy). From the disobedience in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:9) to the wickedness of Babylon the Great (Revelation 18:2), the Bible speaks of the fact of evil, and man is held responsible for the evil he commits: “The one who sins is the one who will die” (Ezekiel 18:20).

Essentially, evil is a lack of goodness. Moral evil is not a physical thing; it is a lack or privation of a good thing. As Christian philosopher J. P. Moreland has noted, “Evil is a lack of goodness. It is goodness spoiled. You can have good without evil, but you cannot have evil without good.” Or as Christian apologist Greg Koukl has said, “Human freedom was used in such a way as to diminish goodness in the world, and that diminution, that lack of goodness, that is what we call evil.”

God is love (1 John 4:8); the absence of love in a person is un-God-like and therefore evil. And an absence of love manifests itself in unloving behavior. The same can be said concerning God’s mercy, justice, patience, etc. The lack of these godly qualities in anyone constitutes evil. That evil then manifests itself in behavior that is unmerciful, unjust, impatient, etc., bringing more harm into the good world that God has made. As it turns out, we lack a lot: “As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one’” (Romans 3:10).

Moral evil is wrong done to others, and it can exist even when unaccompanied by external action. Murder is an evil action, but it has its start with the moral evil of hatred in the heart (Matthew 5:21–22). Committing adultery is evil, but so is the moral evil of lust in the heart (Matthew 5:27–28). Jesus said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person” (Mark 7:20–23).

Those who fall into evil behavior usually start slowly. Paul shows the tragic progression into more and more evil in Romans 1. It starts with refusing to glorify God or give thanks to Him (Romans 1:21), and it ends with God giving them over to a “depraved mind” and allowing them to be “filled with every kind of wickedness” (verses 28–29).

It is impossible to find anyone in the Bible who was a power for God who did not have enemies and was not hated.

Like Joseph and Daniel of the Old Testament who served secular kings, we are called to serve everyone and help them fulfill their divine destiny. Jesus made it clear that people who want to lead or be great must be the servants of all. Serving is the way of leadership in the kingdom.

Forcing our way onto the world is not great leadership. Some accuse us of doing this very thing because we speak up on moral issues. It is important that we speak up on issues, but it’s also equally important that we love everyone no matter their persuasions.

Someday Jesus will rule the world; in the meantime, we should just serve well and let our good works speak of our Father who loves everyone.
