EDWARD O’HARA: THE FAITH THAT COMES BY HEARING IS RIGHTEOUSNESS- ROM.10

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. What does this mean to you? When I hear these words it means that as we hear the message of the gospel and we are made aware of a choice we need to make. And when we make the free will choice to believe the gospel we are given the gift of faith. And now having this gift it gives us the ability to grow into the man or woman of God God wants us to be. If we will continue hearing God’s word. This growth happens when we go from saying yes to the gospel message when we first heard it. To continuing to hear God’s word. Because by this God builds into us a frame of reference by which we can understand more and more of His…

THE GOSPEL OF: GOD, JESUS, THE ATONEMENT, RIGHTEOUSNESS, JUDGMENT,…..

Edward: Gospel means good news. And it is the good news. It can be good news about pretty much anything. But, the gospel that is found in the Bible is that which describes for us who God is. Who Jesus is. And what the atonement is for. And how these have provided deliverance from the mortality that causes men to seek God. To eternal life for all who will believe in the Biblical Jesus.  The new believer is not going to know immediately every detail about this gospel. None of us will ever know all that is to be known about the gospel while we see through the dark glasses of these mortal minds. But, he will know that Jesus loves him. And will learn more and more about His love and what God has done for him because of His…

THE WORKS RIGHTEOUSNESS OF MORAL GOV’T THEOLOGY- THE INIQUITY THAT MAKES JESUS SAY “I NEVER KNEW YOU”

Edward

Iniquity. What is it when Jesus uses it in Mt.7:21-23 saying “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”   If we will consider the context as we must in everything we read in scripture we will see that Jesus is not referring to immorality here. Because these people are doing good things like casting out devils and prophesying. And they believe they are doing these morally good…

WHY ADAM’S SIN COULD NEVER BE IMPUTED TO HIM OR ANYONE ELSE- Rom.5:12-14

Daily Devotional: Many think that doctrine really isn’t that important. They think that if we all just get along, show some unity, things are going to work out ok. Well listen close. Because if you love the truth then you’re going to love where this is going. This message is a kind of prelude to our study going into Rom.5. In this prelude I’m going to talk about the need for repentance for those who have been deceived by the false doctrine of original sin. By offering conclusive proof that it is false doctrine being taught by those who do not know or love the truth. Because for one reason or another they have decided that unity matters more than truth. But, a wise man once told me that “It is better to be divided by truth than to be…

ONLY JEWS CAN EVER BE GUILTY OF TRANSGRESSING THE LAW- ROM.2:14,4:15- so it helps a great deal to know who Paul was writing TO in Romans

Who is Paul writing TO in Romans? Do you think his instructions were for the whole assembly at Rome? Or was it directed at a specific group of people there? Does Paul write TO everyone when he writes to the assembly at Rome? How can we know for sure? To find this out we need to be able to “rightly divide the word of truth” as Paul says in 2 Tim.2:15 we must. So that we do not make the kind of mistakes Peter says in 2 Peter 3:16 those do who wrest Paul’s teachings to their own destruction. So this message is not just about what Paul was teaching in Romans. But, it is also to show to whom it was being taught. This question needs to be answered so that we can know what Paul’s intentions are. And…

WHAT THE DEVIL BELIEVES VS WHAT WE WHO ARE SAVED BELIEVE

Edward  O’Hara: Have you ever heard someone respond to the preaching of salvation by grace through faith without works by saying, “Well, the devil believes. So just believing is not enough”? I have. And it’s very frustrating when hearing that from anyone who claims to believe in Jesus. It can attributed to immaturity. But, this kind of response can also mean that they really do not know Jesus. Because this kind of response comes from their belief that only when works accompany faith is anyone saved. Saying in effect that we are saved by works as if James was contradicting what Paul taught. Which also means that if we are not saved it is because of bad works. So salvation becomes an issue of works rather than of grace through faith. Which is the antithesis to everything the Bible teaches about…

A MORE PERFECT WAY- ACTS 18:26–IN THIS WE SEE THAT THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST GIVEN THROUGH JOHN’S BAPTISM WAS INSUFFICIENT

Edward O’Hara: Like Rom.6, Acts 18 tells us there is a difference between John’s baptism and New Covenant baptism. The man Apollos in this passage is said to have been preaching the message of Christ. But, that he was preaching the way of John’s baptism. So that he was in need of being taught “a more perfect way”. In this we see that the message of Christ given through John’s baptism was insufficient. The reason this is true is because John’s baptism was only for those who were under the law. A baptism that shows how to believe in Christ while still living under the law. A way that included the remission of sins they committed while under the law. Just as John, an apostle to the circumcision per Gal.2:9, in 1 John 1:8,9 teaches. The “more perfect way” regards…

By Edward O’Hara, THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS WITHIN YOU- LUKE17:20,21

By Edward O’Hara. Jesus said “The kingdom of God is within you” to a people who were expecting a messiah to come who would deliver to them a physical kingdom after conquering their enemies. But, these expected a natural kingdom to be theirs by the hand of a judge/deliverer just as the judges like Samson, Moses, and others had in olden times. But, the kingdom Jesus spoke of was one that delivered them from the natural men they were from the time Adam was made, to spiritual men for which Jesus came to make all men. From an inheritance through flesh and blood by a water birth from their mother’s womb. To an inheritance through spiritual birth that made them children of God and heirs to His eternal and spiritual kingdom in heaven. Both are literal kingdoms. And the Jew…

PASSOVER, AN UNBLEMISHED LAMB- EXODUS12:5

Edward O’Hara: Most believe it had something to do with making bad people good enough for God to accept them. That by punishing Jesus in our place God’s wrath was appeased so that we do not have to go to suffer God’s wrath by going to hell. By what they believe was the purpose of Jesus’ death paying the penalty for sin that we could not pay. But, since Jesus came, and Paul was separated as an apostle to the assembly of believers, we know that what the law says it only says to them that were under the law. And since we are not under the law but under grace, their notions regarding the purpose of the atonement have no basis in Biblical fact. And come only from the very pagan Gnostic machinations of Augustine’s Roman Catholicism. And her…

WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A DOER OF THE LAW- ROM.2:13

Did you know that the Bible shows that even when keeping the law you may still be a transgressor of the law? And did you know that virtually all of the churches have fallen into this transgression of the law by “the deceitfulness of sin”? It’s true. So the Jews that heard did not enter in because of unbelief. And because many now believe that the reason Jesus had to die was to pay a penalty for sin, so that they still need to continually confess sin. Because they have been deceived to believe this is the reason that they are going to hell. By this they do the same thing many Jews did while under the law. Creating a form of Judaism for gentiles. Where men look to the law, rather than the one who gave the law, for…
