At this time when people are celebrating and families are spending time together. I want to hi-lite the reason Jesus came. The truth about why He was born into this world as a man. And why all men need Jesus.
First, every human being is born sinless. You heard that right. This is a fact confirmed by Jesus when He said, “Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
So I hope this dispels for any that need it the fiction that Jesus was born as a man so the Father could punish Him with punishment we somehow deserved to appease the Father’s wrath. What a horrible slander about God who is love.
And just so you know, David was not making a theological statement when he wrote “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” He was expressing his great sorrow over the awful things he did in the events that happened surrounding Bathsheba. There is nothing worse a Jew could say about himself than this. And that’s exactly how bad David was feeling. But, this was not theologically sound.
And Jeremiah was talking only about those who reject God when he said “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” And Isaiah, the Psalmist, and Paul were also only speaking about the wicked and those who would not follow after God when they all said “there is none righteous no not one…” So these “none” are not every man that has ever lived. But, only those who would not trust in God.
This is why the scripture spoke so matter of fact-ly about Zachariah and Elizabeth when it says “There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.
And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord BLAMELESS.” It was not unusual for Jews to keep the whole law blamelessly. But, the law was “weak through the flesh” because it only dealt with the flesh which is why Paul said, “there was never a law given that could give life…” And why Paul could truthfully say of himself “touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.”
Because man’s need for Jesus is not that he is bad and needs to be made good. Or that his flesh is evil. Paul makes it clear that from the time Adam was made the reason man has needed Jesus is because he is “not spiritual but natural”. And “flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God.”
This is why Jesus said “What is born of the flesh(of the “dust of the ground”) is flesh. And what is born of the Spirit is spirit.” This is why Jesus said “ye must be born again.” This is why man needs Jesus. To be made a spiritual being instead of only flesh and blood.
By being made spiritual by being born again we can right now have eternal life. And having eternal life now assures those who have believed in Jesus for eternal life of a new spiritual body at the resurrection.
So this “Christmas” we say thank you Jesus for being born into this world as a man. Born with the same flesh and blood with every cell in your earthly body being the same that all men have. To join with us in our mortality. So that by joining with us in our death. Now by faith we can now join with you in eternal life and immortality.
This is the message every believer in Jesus should be bringing to the world at this time and at all times. Because this is why mankind needs Jesus.
If you will confess the Lord Jesus. And believe in your heart that He has raised from the dead. You shall be saved. Saved from mortal to immortal. And from flesh and blood to spirit. Made a child of God and heir to His kingdom.
Do this and you will know the one true God and His Son whom He hath sent. Do this and you will inherit the kingdom of God. Do this… and I will see you there or in the air!
