Antony Blinken: A smooth, old-school diplomat who will take on a harsh new world of wary allies ...

If the West refuses to meet Moscow’s demands, Putin has threatened to use unspecified “military-technical measures.”

The State Department said Tuesday that Secretary of State Antony Blinken will meet with his Russian counterpart in Switzerland this week as tensions between the two countries rise over a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Blinken will go to Kyiv on Wednesday to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, then to Berlin before meeting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Geneva on Friday, according to the State Department. The hurriedly planned trip intends to demonstrate US support for Ukraine and to persuade Russia of the importance of de-escalation.

Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, emphasized the importance of the situation. “We’re now at a stage where Russia could at any point launch an attack in Ukraine. And what Secretary Blinken is going to go do is highlight very clearly there is a diplomatic path forward,” she said.

According to Psaki, Russian President Vladimir Putin sparked the issue by massing 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders, and it is now up to him and the Russians to decide whether to invade and suffer “serious economic consequences” if they do.

The US hasn’t decided if Putin intends to invade or if the display of power is meant to wring security concessions out of him without causing a fight. Russia has dismissed requests for its troops to be withdrawn, claiming that it has the right to deploy its forces anywhere it wants on its own soil.

Blinken’s discussions come after last week’s unproductive diplomatic negotiations in Europe between Moscow and the West, which failed to overcome major differences over Ukraine and other security issues.

Instead, the Biden administration has accused Russia of planning a “false flag operation” to use as a pretext for action as a result of those conversations. Russia has vehemently refuted the accusation.

Blinken will go from Kyiv to Berlin, where he will meet with counterparts from Germany, the United Kingdom, and France to discuss a possible response to any Russian military action. Blinken will test Lavrov on Russia’s desire in a “diplomatic off-ramp” for the issue in Geneva on Friday, according to a senior State Department source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The State Department said in a statement that Blinken’s “travel and consultations are part of the diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the tension caused by Russia’s military build-up and continued aggression against Ukraine,”

The State Department said Blinken will meet with Zelenskyy and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Wednesday “to reinforce the US commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

“The trip follows extensive diplomacy with our European Allies and partners about a united approach to address the threat Russia poses to Ukraine and our joint efforts to encourage it to choose diplomacy and de-escalation in the interests of security and stability,” the statement said.

According to a US official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to disclose Burns’ schedule, CIA Director William Burns visited Kyiv last Wednesday to engage with his Ukrainian counterparts and discuss updated assessments of the risk to Ukraine. He also spoke with Zelenskyy about the present situation and efforts to de-escalate tensions when he was there.

Russia’s senior diplomat, Sergei Lavrov, denied US charges that his country was creating a pretext to attack Ukraine on Monday. He slammed the US claim as “total disinformation” when speaking to reporters.

Russia anticipates a written response from the US and its allies this week in response to Moscow’s request for enforceable guarantees that NATO will not embrace Ukraine or any other ex-Soviet country and deploy its forces and weapons there.

According to the State Department, Blinken told Lavrov on Tuesday that any debate on European security “must involve NATO Allies and European partners, including Ukraine.”

Lavrov stressed key features of Russian draft documents envisaging “legally binding guarantees of Russia’s security in line with the principle of indivisibility of security approved by all countries in the Euro-Atlantic.” according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. According to the report, Lavrov emphasized the need of Washington providing a written response to the Russian offers as soon as possible.

During last week’s Russia-US talks in Geneva and a subsequent NATO-Russia summit in Brussels, Washington and its allies flatly rejected Moscow’s requests.

According to the White House, US intelligence authorities have assessed that Russia has already dispatched operatives to rebel-controlled eastern Ukraine to carry out acts of sabotage and blame them on Ukraine in order to provide a pretext for an invasion.

A delegation of US senators visited Ukraine ahead of Blinken’s visit to emphasize legislative support for the country.

In a statement, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, a Democrat from New Hampshire, said, “Our bipartisan congressional delegation sends a clear message to the global community: the United States stands in unwavering support of our Ukrainian partners in defending their sovereignty and in the face of persistent Russian aggression.”

On a visit to Kyiv on Monday, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock cautioned that “any further escalation would come at a high cost for the Russian regime—economic, political, and strategic,” stressing the importance of continuing talks.

“We are prepared to have a serious dialogue with Russia,” she said, “because diplomacy is the only way to defuse this highly dangerous situation at the moment.”

After the fall of Ukraine’s Moscow-friendly president in 2014, Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula and backed a separatist rebellion in eastern Ukraine. In over eight years of conflict between Russia-backed insurgents and Ukrainian forces in the country’s industrial heartland, known as Donbas, over 14,000 people have been killed.

Conveniently enough America is far too divided to fight for a common cause. That can be attributed to the deafening static that is plandemic propaganda. No one man can make sense of this elaborate illusion cast over the common man of society, but collectively we can point out each limitation forced upon us and bring it forward as an injustice to the public. In Matthew 10:34 Jesus says: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.” We’re meant to go down preaching the gospel and guiding others to salvation. This could be considered the bravest task a man or woman of faith could undertake, but make no mistake it will bear fruit in the kingdom of heaven. Stay inquisitive in the word of God, and the world around you.
