By SRH A common false belief in Christian Western cultures today is the belief that the “Jews” are God’s “chosen people.” People who believe this are usually biblically illiterate, because this belief is not backed up by what is written in the Bible, especially the New Testament portion. The New Testament portion of the Bible, which introduces the “New Covenant” ushered in by the Jewish Messiah, Jesus Christ, is centered around “the Gospel,” where the word “gospel” means literally “good news.” And what is the “Gospel/Good News” of the New Covenant? Seems like an odd statement for Jesus to make doesn’t it? I mean who has ever lived that has not sinned? Doesn’t Paul say in Rom.3:23 that “all have sinned”? But, here Jesus is telling these Jews that if He had not told them they would have no sin. And with a title like this I am tempted to go straight to Luke1:5,6. And just to be thorough I think I will spend just a little while on it using this passage before we look more fully at what Jesus said in John15. Because in Luke1:5,6 we find what would be a contradiction to Paul’s teaching in Rom.3:23, that is if we misunderstand what Paul was really saying there. Today I want to look at another aspect to the synagogue of Satan question. And another reason that makes Israel an unlikely candidate for this designation. And that is the idea that because there are evidently Israelis who do not possess the DNA of Old Testament Israel they can not be the Israel of God. Even though they claim to be.
