Pelosi Knew How to Handle Trump Because “He Essentially Was a Child” and Still Is a Child
HNewsWire: On Thursday's episode of CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) remarked that departing Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) intuitively understood how to manage former President Donald Trump since she had five children and "he ultimately was a kid."
Jamie Gangel, a reporter, approached the two of them and said, "I want to ask about how the two of you negotiated working with the previous President Trump. It's quite well known that he gave the two of you the names Chuck and Nancy, right? Always Chuck and Nancy, that was the case. I guess you both understood that Speaker Pelosi got under his skin, right? When you walked into a meeting, did you have a plan in mind? Who was the nice officer and who was the evil cop?"
Schumer said that they had "kind of set him up automatically." This was not in our plans at all. Everyone believed that we orchestrated this whole thing. The first time they spoke, they were discussing the partial closure of the government, and Nancy mentioned something to him about how he didn't comprehend.
Pelosi said that Chuck has amazing skills. He was the absolute best."
Schumer is quoted as saying, "She framed him so that I could sneak up and finish him off."
Pelosi is quoted as having commented, "He was masterful." He is having a conversation with him about the partial closure of the government, immigration, and other topics.
Schumer responded by saying, "So, Mr. President, I asked to you, would you own the shutdown? He affirms, "Yes, I will do it." That was the end of it.
He continued by saying, "He has no idea what he's getting into. I tell people that Nancy understood how to manage Trump instinctually because for the first 35–40 years of her life, she raised five children, and she knew how to deal with children because she had previous experience doing it. And this is what made it easier for her to cope with Trump because, at heart, he is just a kid.
