Luke 8:16-18 16"No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he puts it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light. 17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open. 18 Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken from him."

What have you got? You can only have what you have. You are given both physical and spiritual gifts. The physical will perish, but the spiritual will live forever. The physical does not transform the soul; it is transformed by the spiritual.

How do you receive spiritual things? Typically, it is through your ears. When many people could not read or afford to buy a manuscript in Jesus' day, it was almost entirely through the ears. What do you think you're hearing?

Many of us recognize this illustration from Matthew or from the song "This Little Light of Mine." Those illustrations are about boldly allowing others to see the witness of Jesus in you. What you listen to and absorb will be seen by others. You can't conceal who you've become. Listening changes you for the better or for the worse. The words enter your mind and heart, influencing how you perceive the world around you.

Cults can change a person's perspective simply by isolating them from other points of view, allowing them to hear only a distorted version of the truth. That's why Jesus says, "Consider carefully how you listen." He is telling us to think about how we listen as well as what we listen to. Do we listen with caution? Are we sorting through what we hear, discarding what is contrary to God's Word and clinging to what is valuable? Do we distinguish between the Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error? That is not to criticize, but rather to anticipate what we will receive.

Why should we be so cautious? Jesus is saying that if we receive good things, we will receive more of the same. Everyone will be able to see our light. If we receive empty words, what we thought was substantial will be revealed to be so. People will notice our dearth of substance.

The Great Tribulation

It is our belief that the Great Tribulation referred to in the New Testament Book of Revelation (chapters 6-11) is unfolding before our eyes. In the near future, we will devote the "Tribulation" tab on our "Trending" menu to this emerging reality. As people continue to unplug from mainstream media, our commitment is to present the truth and encourage our audience to understand current events from a Biblical perspective. The Watchman

In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
