Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Those Who Have a Strong Desire for Righteousness Will Find Satisfaction in Their Relationship With God (Matt. 5:6). The Level of Righteousness in Your Life Can Be Determined by Your Connection With Him

Chapter 12, verse 18

Chronicles 12:18

18 Then the Spirit clothed Amasai, chief of the thirty, and he said, “We are yours, O David, and with you, O son of Jesse! Peace, peace to you, and peace to your helpers! For your God helps you.” Then David received them and made them officers of his troops.

While David was seeking refuge in the wilderness, some individuals from Saul’s tribe chose to join him. One of them, Amasai, rose to prominence as a leader among David’s mighty men. When they discovered David and expressed their desire to join his ranks, David informed them that if their intentions were peaceful, their souls would be intertwined. Then he cautioned them that if they had arrived with deceitful intentions, divine consequences would befall them.

Today, we will be exploring a thought-provoking passage – Amasai’s response. Amasai received divine assistance to respond. Prior to Pentecost, the Spirit did not permanently reside within individuals, but rather descended upon them temporarily. He professed his loyalty to David and wished for peace upon him and his supporters. Why? “Your faith is a source of support.”Amasai acknowledged the divine intervention in David’s life. He was familiar with the stories of David’s triumph over a formidable opponent, his bravery in warfare, and his ability to outsmart the ruler. He longed to be in the presence of divine favor. He was confident in the ultimate victory of the divine.

Are you familiar with individuals who receive divine assistance? Maybe you possess a special ability to sing the perfect song at the perfect moment, or to offer a verse that perfectly aligns with the situation, or provide wise guidance when it is most needed. It could be a sermon filled with divine inspiration week after week, or the wisdom that guides one’s actions in every situation. Whatever the situation may be, it is evident that divine assistance is at work. A person who receives divine assistance can be a valuable ally.

You can become that person if you consistently seek guidance from a higher power and remain obedient to their direction. If you are willing to seek His assistance and do so consistently, relying on God’s wisdom and strength rather than your own, then this will become your reality. Many people are drawn to you, just as Amasai was drawn to David.

Prayer: LORD, help me to recognize the godly people around me, those that receive Your help. Help me to always look to You and not trust in my own strength or natural insight. Give me ears to hear Your heart.
