The nation’s capital —previous Vice President Joe Biden was denied access to daily intelligence briefings and his security clearance was revoked on February 7th, as revealed by President Trump. This was a perk that most previous presidents enjoyed.
Upon becoming president in 2021, Biden deactivated Trump’s access to sensitive information and daily intelligence briefings. He justified this action by pointing to the events of January 6, 2021, when Trump’s followers invaded the United States Capitol and obstructed the certification of the Electoral College vote. As a result, Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives and subsequently acquitted by the Senate.
In a social media post on Truth Social, Trump made his choice public, referencing Biden’s past behavior and the 2024 report from Special Counsel Robert Hur, who looked into allegations of classified material misuse by Biden.
Joe Biden should no longer have access to sensitive material. That is why Joe Biden’s security clearances are being revoked and his daily intelligence briefings are coming to an end. By instructing the Intelligence Community (IC) to prevent the 45th President of the United States (ME!) from receiving details on national security, a privilege granted to previous presidents, he established this precedent in 2021,” Trump said.
On January 20, Trump used an executive order to remove the security clearances of numerous former national security officials.
