Man will compromise his morals in order to achieve his goals when he becomes unrepentant and justifies his body. To the very end, Saul remained proud and unrepentant. After ousting David and his troops and facing a unified Philistine army, he started to worry about the fate of the next conflict. He asked God, fearing for his bodily life, but God refused to respond.
It’s intriguing to observe how the LORD typically communicated with him in the past. One method the LORD communicates both today and in the past is via dreams. The LORD may give us guidance in a dream when we don’t have the precise instructions in God’s Word. It is thought that the Urim were stones in the High Priest’s breastplate that would light in response to affirmative or negative queries. The prophets came last on the list. As Samuel had done before, a prophet would have a message from the LORD for Saul.
Because of his pride and disobedience, Saul had turned against the LORD. By summoning a witch to summon Samuel’s spirit, he violated the Bible. Desperate people will use forbidden methods to glimpse into the future when they know they are outside of God’s plan and that God is quiet regarding them. It is best if you don’t know if God doesn’t tell you. Do not attempt to use mystical methods to discover God’s mysteries. It just makes the sin of disobedience to God worse. Look for the things in your heart that need to change if you are not hearing from God.
Recognize that the issue can be within your own heart if you are not hearing God’s instructions.
