Sen. Lindsey Graham Thursday called for Russians to “step up” and kill President Vladimir Putin amid Russia’s brutal war on Ukraine – then doubled down on the comments Friday morning. “Somebody in Russia has to step up to the plate. Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military,” Graham, R-S.C., said on “Hannity.” Brutus was a Roman politician who killed dictator Julius Caesar and Stauffenberg was a German military officer who attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler.

 

HNewsWire- Following the imposition of harsh sanctions as a result of the invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Western and other nations should reestablish ties with his country.

In an event on Friday, according to state media, Putin said that “we have no malicious intentions,” that “there is no need to worsen the situation,” that “there is no need to impose restrictions,” and that “we meet all responsibilities.” In his speech, Putin said that “if someone does not want to collaborate with us within the framework of single cooperation, and as a result causes themselves injury, they will, of course, do us harm as well.”

On February 24, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the United States, the European Union, Japan, and a number of other nations imposed severe sanctions against Putin, Russian billionaires, the Russian Central Bank, other Russian institutions, and a variety of other Russian assets. The country has also been shunned by a number of foreign firms, including Maersk, Boeing, Microsoft, Apple, and others, who have said that they would not do business there.

Following the imposition of the sanctions, Putin said that the country’s economy will have to adjust.

Sanctions on Russia or any of its assets have not been imposed by the Chinese Communist Party.

In the meanwhile, numerous European and American corporations have indicated that they are withdrawing from Russia and will not be making any new investments in the country in the foreseeable future. ExxonMobil, Shell, and BP are among the oil behemoths involved.

First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov of the Russian Federation expanded on the government’s stance on foreign businesses doing business in the Russian Federation. On Thursday, the French bank Societe Generale warned that Russian authorities may confiscate the bank’s assets in the nation if it did not comply with their demands.

According to Reuters, Belousov said in a statement that the firm “continues to function completely in Russia.” It was also said that “foreign owners transfer their shares to be handled by Russian partners and may return to the market later,” and that “the firm permanently stops operations in Russia, shutting down manufacturing and terminating staff employment.”

Earlier this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin informed state media that the invasion of Ukraine is proceeding as planned, despite widespread concern that Russian soldiers are slowed and unable to make significant progress on several fronts.

“I will never abandon [the] notion that Russians and Ukrainians are one people,” Putin said.
