See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. 8a You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, James 5:7b,8a James gives us the example of the farmer who patiently waits for the fruit to form. The previous passage addressed the oppression of the poor by those who were rich. James is encouraging them to endure patiently knowing that they will reap the justice they deserve, but also that believers will reap the reward for faithful endurance.

Jesus highlights the various ways in which we should wait, drawing a parallel to the farmer's patient anticipation for his crops to mature. The farmer waits with a reasonable hope and expectation of being rewarded for his efforts. He endures a lengthy waiting period, diligently working throughout. He relies on external factors beyond his control, keeping his gaze fixed on the heavens. Despite encountering changing circumstances and numerous uncertainties, he remains steadfast in his wait. The value of the harvest serves as a source of encouragement for him, as does witnessing the work and harvest of others. He waits because he has no alternative, understanding that giving up is futile. He is aware of the cyclical nature of seasons and recognizes that as time progresses, waiting becomes increasingly crucial rather than less.

The farmer places his trust in God to provide rain at the appropriate time. In Israel, there are two rainy seasons: the early rain in the autumn, coinciding with the start of the religious year, and the latter rain in the winter and early spring. The rest of the year is dry in Israel, and the arrival of rain during these designated seasons determines the yield of the harvest.

Similar to our weather, as we are situated at the same latitude, this year we experienced abundant spring rains and satisfactory summer rains, resulting in bountiful crops for everyone. This success can be attributed not only to the moisture but also to the nitrogen that lightning infuses into the rain.

Are you dealing with someone who constantly annoys you or whose personality irritates you?( Satan Soldiers) Perhaps they are a source of frustration in your life. In such situations, exercise patience and wait for the Lord to work in their hearts and souls. The transformation may occur sooner or later, but have faith that fruit will eventually manifest in their lives. Just like the farmer, "You also, be patient." James emphasizes this virtue because it is crucial for fostering unity and love within the church, enabling the world to witness the distinctiveness of our faith.

The Watchman

In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
