Jesus had been in places where non-Jews lived, maybe to avoid the large groups of Jews. While He was near Tyre, only the daughter of one woman was said to have been healed. Jesus had to take some time to teach His followers because He was almost done with His mission. He went back to Galilee by way of the Decapolis area. Greeks lived in the area for the most part. It looks like the man from whom the legions of devils were driven had told a lot of people about what Jesus had done for him (Mark 5:19). The crowd that gathered around Jesus was about 4,000 strong.
Jesus had taught and healed people for three days. He informed His followers that many of them had traveled a long way, and He was worried that they would need to eat to get the strength to go back to their homes. Jesus shows us that God is kind and cares about even the little things like our daily food. His followers told him that there wasn’t enough food for everyone. When Jesus fed a much bigger crowd, they didn’t learn from that. The answer they gave was the same as before.
We will be taught a lesson more than once by God if we don’t learn it the first time. It was plenty with just seven pieces of bread and a few small fish. We can always do what God tells us to do with what He has given us. Don’t think you don’t have the skills or money to do what God wants you to do. Even if you don’t see it coming, He will give you more of what you already have if He hasn’t already.
