1 John 1:6-7, 9 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
God is light. He is completely devoid of gloom. We are lying if we say we are in constant connection with God but keep a part of the world dark for ourselves. The truth is not what we live in. God will not tolerate darkness. It must be removed, or it will separate you from God.
We discover that we are free to share our lives with one another after we give up those gloomy places. There’s nothing left for us to conceal. Jesus urged us to leave the darkness in our brothers and sisters. We steer clear of them when we have those misgivings because of this. We convince ourselves that we are better than they are by all kinds of justifications, but we do this because Jesus is convicting us in them.
As we live in communion with the body of Christ, our lives become more and more pure and transformed. We must to acknowledge and give up our thoughts and ambitions when we discover that they have been corrupted by darkness. After that, we go through growing purity and forgiveness. You can have faith that God will always uphold what Jesus accomplished for you on the cross. Avoid becoming condemned. Continue to communicate with God and your faith community.
