Who can I encourage today?

David was going through a difficult period in his life. He hadn’t done anything wrong and wasn’t acting in a bad way, but King Saul was after him to kill him. He hadn’t done anything wrong and was one of the best people who worked for the king. He had fought in the King’s wars and calmed him down when he was upset. Son-in-law of the King. There was only one reason for it: jealousy. In spite of all the bad things the King planned to do to David, David never said a bad word to the King.

David felt down after being in hiding for a while. Jonathan promised David that he would be a friend. He put his reputation at risk to go out and cheer David up. He helped him look to God for strength. This is the best thing you can do for friends who are down.

As the Bible says over and over, Jonathan told him, “Do not be afraid.” It’s easy to feel like all our hard work is for nothing. Giving in to God’s will is never for nothing. God will help you get through this. In the end, your enemies will not win. Jonathan told David that he was sure David would rule one day. He had a feeling it was going to happen. There may be friends who are down and need your help to find strength in God. You can tell them not to be afraid. You can give them hope by telling them what you think will happen in their lives. They should not get caught up in the trouble going on around them, but instead should look forward to what God is going to do.

Ask yourself, “Who can I cheer on today?”

1 Samuel 23:16-17 16And Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and helped him find strength in God. 17“Don’t be afraid,” he said. “My father Saul will not lay a hand on you. You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.”
