Watchman’s Daily Devotional: Fervency of Spirit Is Necessary to Serve the Lord as We Should. If We Forget the Greatness and Privilege of God’s Call on Our Lives, These Necessary Qualities Will Grow Cold and Our Service to God Will Falter

People who follow Jesus have a mission and a calling. We know that we only have a short time to invest in eternity and honor God here on earth. We should be excited to do God’s will every day because of this. Paul is telling us not to get lazy and lose our drive to do what God has asked us to do. It is very important to save the lives of people who are going to hell without being saved.

“Fierce” came from the Latin word for “boiling liquid or glowing metal.” Our spirit is what we are at our core, and the Spirit of God lives inside us. It is through our spirit that we talk to God’s Spirit. It’s what we call our heart sometimes. We need to keep the fire in our hearts alive if we want to stay excited about serving God. We need to make sure that our relationship with God stays open and strong. You can reach out and show other people God’s love if your heart is filled with His love.

To serve the Lord as we should, we need to be full of life. We will lose these important traits and our service to God will suffer if we forget how great and honorable it is that God has called us. How happy are you? Every time I feel cold, it’s because I haven’t been reading God’s Word or praying to hear from the Spirit. Sometimes, when I’m not reading the Bible and being pushed by passionate Christians, my heart starts to cool, and the world seems more appealing. We can’t forget to spend time with God and the rest of God’s family.

Prayer: Lord, help me plan my days so that You come first. May everything I do and say be based on the loving things You have told me. Help me keep the light going.
