Our Country Is in Serious Serious Danger…

The current president of the United States talks like he’s a pirate or some kind of tribal kingpin that everyone is afraid of. He wants to take anything if it’s “there for the taking.” Not because it’s his, not because it’s right, but merely because he can. He has the ability to do it, so why not? And we say, “God bless America?” How can God bless a country that thinks like a gangster?

This is the worst kind of raw-power politics, and if Congress doesn’t stop him, I think he will be the last American president to pretend that we are a constitutional republic. It’s funny that we’re about to celebrate the 250th birthday of our constitutional republic, a country of rules with checks and balances that keep one person or group of people from having too much power. Instead, we’ve turned into a “might makes right” system, and surprisingly, most Americans seem fine with it.

Trump called the Iranians “crazy bastards” on Easter Sunday for having the nerve to protect their country from an outside force that was armed to the teeth and wanted to destroy them completely.

He threatened them with war crimes in the most horrible language possible. He said that if they didn’t agree to end the war on his terms, he would bomb their civilian bridges and knock out their electric power grid 48 hours later on Tuesday evening. This would cause a lot of suffering and a lot of Islamic refugees to leave the country.

Either Trump isn’t thinking clearly, or someone else is controlling him and wants to destroy America as we know it. People will not put up with a brigand of this size for long. This man exploits the force of the US military to take other countries’ resources and threaten them with bombings that could destroy everything.

A world system that is centered on one person’s wants is not good for America or the world. There will be a horrible price to pay after that man is gone.

Trump, who got into power on the good principle of “America first,” now stands for open militarism and unprovoked attack. He is willing to use American military force in ways it was never meant to be used, to steal what is not properly his.

This is not what we are like as a group. We used to stand up to other countries when they acted this way. Stealing resources from another country and making it a vassal of the United States is a sort of brutal colonialism that went out of trend in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Trump’s words over the weekend and again on Monday show once again that this war is not about stopping Iran from gaining a nuclear weapon.

It’s about greed, money, and resources.

And no U.S. Senator, except maybe Rand Paul, has had the guts to tell the president that what he’s doing is against the law and against American values, and that it needs to stop.

At a news conference on Monday, Trump even said something crazy: that Iranians had contacted his administration and begged him to keep attacking them. We are supposed to assume that they are telling our government, “Please keep bombing us.” “Please come back and bomb our homes again!”

Anyone who believes such a silly piece of propaganda is a complete idiot.

Then there are legislators like Rep. Rick Crawford, R-Ark., who say just as stupid and outlandish things on Fox News about how Iran needs to “do the right thing” and accept Trump’s ceasefire arrangement.

The best thing that could happen is that we the people use the 25th Amendment to get Trump out of office. In this way, the world will know for sure that we don’t like this kind of gunboat diplomacy and trampling on the rights of other countries.

Our country is in serious serious danger until that happens.
