Watchman:

In the Bible, Thanksgiving

The Bible is replete with references to offering thanks. "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name," is what Psalm 100:4 exhorts believers to do. The act of approaching God with a grateful heart is emphasized in this verse. Furthermore, believers are exhorted to "Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" in 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18. These verses emphasize the biblical command to always have an attitude of gratitude, no matter what our circumstances may be.

Gratitude Outside of Thanksgiving

Although Thanksgiving is a unique occasion to spend with family and friends and show gratitude, believers are encouraged by the biblical teaching to practice thankfulness on a daily basis. Gratitude is a comprehensive emotion, as Colossians 3:17 states, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." This poem emphasizes the idea that we should live grateful lifestyles our entire lives.

An Annual Retrospective
Let Thanksgiving serve as a reminder to maintain an attitude of thankfulness all year long. Scripture says that believers should, "I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips." Psalm 34:1. This text highlights how thankfulness is a constant in our lives, not only on special occasions. Being grateful is a conscious decision to recognize God's goodness in every situation rather than just responding positively to good things that happen to you.

Watchman:

1. Psalm 100:4-5

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and bless his name.
For the LORD is good, and his faithful love endures forever;
his faithfulness, through all generations.

2. Numbers 6:24-26

May the Lord bless you and protect you;
may the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
may the Lord look with favor on you
and give you peace.

3. Psalm 91:1-2

The one who lives under the protection of the Most High
dwells in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say concerning the Lord, who is my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I trust.

4. 1 Chronicles 16:34

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his faithful love endures forever.

5. Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.

6. 3 John 2

Dear friend, I pray that you are prospering in every way and are in good health, just as your whole life is going well.

7. 1 John 4:18-19

There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love. We love because he first loved us.

8. Psalm 119:2

Happy are those who keep his decrees
and seek him with all their heart.
