By SRH, During a congressional hearing, Miguel Cardona, the Secretary of Education under demonic Joe Biden’s administration, issued a warning that the Department of Education could potentially utilize its authority to take action against the largest Christian university in the United States, with the intention of closing it down.

According to Fox News, Cardona made the threats during a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee in response to a question from far-left Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.). DeLauro criticized Grand Canyon University (CGU), wrongly labeling it “a predatory for-profit school,” to which Cardona responded that “we are cracking down not only to shut them down, but to send a message that they should not prey on students.”

"You have a shiny brochure and a great commercial," Cardona observed.

"However, the product is not worth the paper it is written on. We have students graduating with debts ranging from $60,000 to $70,000, yet they are only eligible for jobs paying less than $30,000. That, to me, is unacceptable."

GCU was accused of misleading students about the true cost of certain of its doctoral programs, for which Cardona’s Education Department penalized the university $37.7 million; the school is presently appealing the judgment, which was imposed in November.

The Education Department has previously imposed significantly smaller fines on other schools, with Penn State fined only $2.4 million for failing to deal with Jerry Sandusky’s sexual crimes and Michigan State fined only $4.5 million for failing to respond to Larry Nassar’s crimes.

In October, the department stated that an inquiry by the Federal Student Aid (FSA) found that GCU had “lied” to over 7,500 students about the true expenses of its doctoral programs, although providing no evidence.

The administration subsequently gave GCU only 20 days to obtain a hearing with the department’s Office of Hearings and Appeals to challenge the fine.

"Our next recourse after that decision would be another appeal within the Department, this time directly to the Secretary of Education," according to a spokesperson for GCU.

"Officials continue to make derogatory and inflammatory public statements that are legally and factually incorrect and not shared by any of the other 26 regulatory and accrediting bodies that oversee GCU," a spokesperson for GCU said.

"The Secretary's comments to the House Appropriations Committee were so reckless that GCU demands an immediate retraction because they do not reflect the factual record in this case." He is either confused, ignorant, or does not comprehend the activities taken by his own agency."

In reaction to Cardona’s threats, the American Principles Project (APP) started a petition to “protect Christian colleges.”

The petition states, in part, that in “light of the Biden administration’s unprecedented attacks on our nation’s largest Christian colleges,” the AFP and all signatories demand that “the administration halt their crusade and let students choose the schools that fit their values.”
