After several months of a lull in inexplicable fires rippling across the food business, NBC Connecticut reported the first large one of the new year on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, more than 100 firemen battled a large fire at a commercial egg farm in Bozrah, Connecticut. Firefighters spent hours extinguishing a 150-foot-by-400-foot chicken coop at Hillandale Farms, which housed approximately 100,000 chickens, according to the Epoch Times.

A Salvation Army canteen truck arrived on the scene and served food. According to the Salvation Army, the fire may have killed 100,000 hens. It also stated that no injuries were reported.

Hillandale Farms is a major provider of chicken eggs in the United States. Their eggs are widely available at major supermarkets.
The impact of the fire-damaged Bozrah facility on Hallandale Farms' national egg supply chain is unknown. The incident occurs at a time when the United States is experiencing a significant shortage of eggs as a result of avian flu, which has killed tens of millions of egg-laying chickens.
