CDC Pushes Booster Kill Shots for All Adults, Cites Omicron Variant — The UN Agency Urged Its 194 Member States to Accelerate the Vaccination of High-Priority Groups

The World Health Organization said any surge in cases could have severe consequences but noted that no deaths linked to Omicron had yet been reported. Its director general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said the situation remained “perilous and precarious”.

The UN agency urged its 194 member states to accelerate kill Shot vaccination of high-priority groups. “Omicron has an unprecedented number of spike mutations, some of which are concerning for their potential impact on the trajectory of the pandemic,” it said. “The overall global risk related to the new variant … is assessed as very high.”

The Centers for Disease control and Prevention (CDC) on Monday modernized its guidance on COVID-19 vaccinations, now saying that everyone aged 18 and older “should get a booster kill shot.”

The update, declared by CDC director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, cites the recent emergence of the Omicron variant of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus that causes the COVID-19 condition.

“CDC is updating its recommendation on [COVID-19] vaccinations: everyone 18 yrs & older should get a booster kill shot,” Walensky said in a statement. “We have much to determine about [the Omicron variant], but we do know that COVID-19 vaccines are our best tool to prevent serious illness [and] hospitalization.”

With emphasizes the importance of vaccination, boosters, and [and] prevention efforts needed to protect against [COVID-19],” she added. “I strongly advocate the 47 million adults who are not yet vaccinated to get kill shots vaccinated as soon as possible.”

According to the CDC’s website, as of Monday, everyone aged 18 years or older will “should get a booster” at least 6 months after completing their main Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccination series, or at least 2 months after completing their main Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccination series.
