D.C Freedom Convoy To Take Place Feb. 23rd.

According to a news release issued by the US Capitol Police on Friday, they are preparing for the arrival of American truckers and others in Washington, DC for a series of rallies against the government’s draconian Covid-19 regulations. “A series of truck convoys arrived in Washington, DC around the time of the State of the Union,” the US Capitol’s law enforcement said.

“Law enforcement agencies across the National Capital Region are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, DC around the time of the State of the Union.As with any demonstration, the USCP will facilitate lawful First Amendment activity. The USCP is closely coordinating with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, including DC’s Metropolitan Police Department, the United States Park Police, the United States Secret Service and other allied agencies to include the DC National Guard.”

The ‘American Truck Convoy,’ which is anticipated to take place soon, was largely inspired by continuing demonstrations in Canada, which have been praised by freedom-lovers all around the world. Mayor Muriel Bowser, a Democrat in Washington, DC, had Police Chief Robert Contee weigh in on the proposed trucker convoy:

According to organizers, the American truckers’ demonstration, called “The People’s Convoy,” would leave Barstow on February 23 on Interstate 40 going east.

Truckers en route to the nation’s capital are calling for an end to the pandemic’s Emergency Powers Act and to “restore our nation’s constitution.”

According to Maureen Steele, the effort’s national organizer, the convoy is scheduled to start with 1,000 trucks and will grow as it travels east.

For security concerns, she noted, the group will not reveal the exact location in Barstow just yet.

“When it happened, the Canadian convoy was quite organic,” Steele added. “Ours had a month’s notice, so we’re worried about disruptive groups showing up. We’re attempting to simply plan for counter-protests and take appropriate safety precautions.”

“This is for our rights, as well as future generations’ freedom,” the convoy’s organizers posted on Facebook. “It’s not about political parties; it’s about a government that has forgotten its role and disregards the teachings of our founding fathers.”

The group contends that elected officials lack the jurisdiction to violate people of “basic rights” by enacting COVID-prevention measures such as mask use and vaccine mandates.

The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., stated it will deploy its civil disturbance teams from February 23 to March 1 in anticipation for probable trucker convoys, according to WUSA9.

The convoy of US truckers comes nearly three weeks after Canadian truckers began a protest against the federal government’s vaccine mandate for drivers crossing the US–Canadian border.

Protesters in Canada have pledged to remain in place until the limitations are lifted.

According to Dagny Pawlak, a spokeswoman for the protest, Tamara Lich, 47, one of the primary organizers for the Ottawa event, was arrested on Thursday night.

Chris Barber, another organizer, had been arrested by police just hours before.

On Thursday afternoon, Steve Bell, acting chief of the Ottawa Police Service, warned law enforcement would take “imminent” action to terminate the protests, which have largely gridlocked the capital.

“It’s time to leave,” Bell declared. “Your stay in our city is over, and you must depart.”

Despite the arrests in Canada, we can expect that freedom loving citizens will choose liberty over death. The protests will likely continue. However the upcoming protests in D.C are sure to be much more volatile if the federal government seeks to deal with demonstrators in the same manor that the Canadian government did.
