Matthew 15:7-9 (NIV) 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8"' These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'"

The faultfinding religious elites of Jesus' day chastised Jesus' disciples for not washing their hands before eating. In response to their allegation, Jesus asked them a question. He questioned why people ignored God's laws because of their customs, citing various examples. They were looking for something to blame Jesus and His disciples for when they were the ones violating God's Word. They said all the correct religious things, but their hearts were far from God. Religion was utilized to gain power, prestige, and pride. They had elevated man's customs above God's word.

Men's religious organizations are rich with men's traditions and teachings. That anyone of us can lose our focus and adopt a critical attitude, blaming others for not following man's methods. It is idolatry, or setting man's traditions above God's Word. We are worshiping in vain, according to Isaiah and Jesus. What we are doing has no worth or substance. We are collaborating with the brethren's accuser. It should make us fear God to think that these leaders believed they were serving God and truly worshiping Him.

Let us consider whether our problems are of man or of God. What we do with a flaw demonstrates our spiritual growth. Should we pray for that individual and trust the Lord to teach us how we might encourage them to see the light of the Word, or do we tell others about the flaws we perceive, spreading our critical spirit like cancer? This divisive faultfinding mindset has hindered the progress of more churches than sexual immorality or misuse of church funds. Slander is embraced by our carnal nature, but the Spirit in us encourages and strengthens fellow Christians.

Warning: Let us all keep our hearts and words closed lest we be detected worshiping in vain.

The Great Tribulation

It is our belief that the Great Tribulation referred to in the New Testament Book of Revelation (chapters 6-11) is unfolding before our eyes. In the near future, we will devote the "Tribulation" tab on our "Trending" menu to this emerging reality. As people continue to unplug from mainstream media, our commitment is to present the truth and encourage our audience to understand current events from a Biblical perspective. The Watchman

In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
