According to Libs of TikTok, a Texas oil and gas company has alerted its employees about warnings from law enforcement and the FBI regarding armed gangs from Cuba and Venezuela engaging in thefts in the Permian Basin, the most productive oil field in America.
The memo states:
Industry colleagues and law enforcement in West Texas (WTX) have noted a troubling rise in organized crime, including violent acts, gang-related activities, and oil field thefts in the WTX operational areas. Specifically, regional law enforcement and the FBI have reported that gang members from Cuba and Venezuela are collaborating to carry out thefts in the Permian Basin. These individuals are armed and violent, showing a willingness to use force.
The crimes linked to these gangs involve the theft of oil, diesel fuel, copper wire, and catalyst materials. Recent events have included assaults on water haulers attempting to steal oil from WTX oilfield sites. Witnesses reported that when they approached to investigate, the thieves tried to run them off the road with their vehicles. In another case, a thief, acting as a lookout for a water hauler who had stolen oil, also attempted to force a witness off the road. There have been multiple reports of secondary vehicles serving as spotters for water haulers involved in oil thefts.
