Jewish leaders, led by the high priest Caiaphas, plotted the murder of Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:3-4).
They paid Judas to betray Jesus (Matthew 26:14-15).
They whipped up a mob, captured Jesus, falsely convicted him of blasphemy before a court of Jewish authorities, and delivered him to Roman authorities to be killed (Matthew 27:1-2).
And when Pontius Pilate said he found no guilt in Jesus, another mob incited by the Pharisees and Sadducees demanded that Pilate release the criminal Barabbas and instead crucify Jesus in his place. To placate the mob and the Pharisees, Pilate sentenced Christ to death by crucifixion, even though He broke no laws and had committed no sin (Matthew 27:15-26).
The Bible never made Israel “God’s people” today — it calls them wicked under His wrath. Yet evangelicals & politicians like Ted Cruz + Mike Huckabee keep preaching blind loyalty to a war criminal like Netanyahu. Whatever happens to Israel, they deserve.
Jewish leaders demanded the execution of Jesus Christ and delivered him to Roman authorities, who then carried out Christ’s crucifixion. These are inarguable historical facts, attested to by countless witnesses and recorded in multiple gospel accounts.
But they don’t tell the whole story, and certainly not the most important part of the story. Jesus Christ subjected Himself to the cross to pay for MY sins. MY sins nailed him to that cross. MY sins were why his blood was poured out.
The Jewish leaders and Roman civil authorities of Christ’s time on earth were vehicles for God’s justice and His grace. Justice required punishment for sin. It should have been me on the cross. But because God is gracious and merciful, He used His son to pay for my sins. And because Jesus Christ allowed Himself to be killed for my sake, my sins are forgiven, and so are yours, if you accept His gift.
That is what Tucker Carlson preached on Sunday, he was absolutely correct, and anyone who says or claims otherwise is being willfully deceitful. And if you are a Christian spreading these vicious lies because you happen to disagree with Tucker’s politics, shame on you. Shame on you!…
