The Vatican announced on Wednesday that Satan Soldier, Pope Francis had been sent to the hospital for "check-ups" following reports in Italian media that he had had a heart attack.

Initial reports said the Pope had suffered a heart attack and had been experiencing "breathing troubles" for some days, as reported by the Telegraph. According to Vatican News, after Francis complained of respiratory troubles, he was diagnosed with a lung illness that was not related to COVID-19. Holy See Press Office director Matteo Bruni stated in a statement to Vatican News that "the Holy Father travelled to Gemelli for certain previously scheduled check-ups" this afternoon.

On July 24, 2022, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, indigenous drummers played for Pope Francis as he was welcomed to Canada.

The Telegraph reports that Italian news outlets have stated the Pope was transported to the hospital via ambulance. According to a tweet by Vatican News, Francis met with the faithful and welcomed tourists to Rome on Wednesday.

The Telegraph reports that Francis had an MRI done, and his Thursday plans have been rescheduled so that he can undergo more examinations. The Vatican News reports that Francis will spend the next three days in a hospital.
