God made us all with a mind. Not matter how we treat it, it still tells us what is right and wrong. Our school systems try to change it. Sometimes, our own pain is a reason to try to avoid dealing with it. Most of the time, our emotions are what try to shut it down. A young New Age woman worked with a friend of mine. She believed that all life was valuable, whether it was a dog or a person. What would she do if she saw a puppy and a baby being thrown into the Grand Canyon? If she could only save one, which would it be? She thought about it for a while. “I’m sorry to say it would be the puppy,” she finally said. If she really meant what she said, why was she sad when she said it? That’s just one extreme case of stifling morality; it happens all the time around the world. We don’t listen to the warnings that God put in us because of our beliefs or our desire for fun.
Once we’ve decided to reject our conscience, which God gave us, we have to explain what we did. We seem to be trying to tell ourselves that nothing bad will happen. People have told us that conscience comes from man’s stifling religions and that we should ignore it and become our best selves. That’s just fancy language for giving in to our lusts. People who support this kind of silliness always add, “As long as it doesn’t hurt other people.” They don’t care about the overwhelming proof that giving in to our urges hurts us and others. As part of the process of reasoning, people who do the same kind of enslavement are praised. They’re called “enlightened” because they give in to the same urges.
The only way out of this bad circle is to live in the Spirit. Our minds need to be renewed every day so that they match the thinking of Christ (Romans 12:2). The first step is to admit that we do deserve hell because we disobeyed our Creator. Because of that, we will never change our minds and accept the life from above. We can get people to give up one drug in exchange for another, but the only way to become more like Christ is to be spiritually reborn (Romans 8:29).
Think about this: people are looking for soul happiness. The soul that fell will never be happy again. It asks for more all the time. A powerful witness is a person that has been saved and found happiness in Christ.
