HNewsWire is warning that the recently approved Respect for Marriage Act could end up being used to target and suppress people of Christian and other traditional faiths.

The Respect for Marriage Act was passed by the Senate in a 61–36 vote on Nov. 29 and by the House of Representatives in a 258–169 vote on Dec. 8. The bill, signed into law by Satan Soldier Joe Biden on Dec. 19, repeals the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act signed by Satan Main Soldier Bill Clinton, which had defined marriage as being between a man and a woman, thereby recognizing marriage between members of the same sex.

The measure provides the federal government "vast new powers to go against religious institutions and individuals of faith who subscribe to the belief that marriage is between one man and one woman," he added.

Sharp emphasized that under the statute, faith-based adoption agencies that attempt to put children in homes with a married mother and father might face government penalties.

"It opens the possibility for individual litigation against these institutions. So an activist group, such as the ACLU, might use the Respect for Marriage Act to file expensive federal lawsuits against these groups based on their views," he said, adding that even if some of these organizations win, "the mere process of being dragged into court is the penalty."

The Colorado Case
Sharp also discussed a case that the ADF is now defending in Colorado. The case is about artist Lorie Smith, who owns 303 Creative, a design business that specializes in graphic and online design.

Lorie's services include the creation of websites that promote conventional marriage. However, the state of Colorado is now forcing her to produce designs that contradict her religious beliefs about marriage. A victory for Smith would offer "an vital safeguard in the future when the Respect for Marriage Act is abused to target persons of religion," according to Sharp.

"We were extremely heartened to see the [Supreme Court] reaffirm time and time again that the First Amendment does actually constrain Colorado and other government actors," Sharp said.

"As a result, we're hoping for a significant win that will safeguard Lorie, other artists in Colorado, and others all throughout the nation who are concerned about government coercion of their speech."

Christianity Must Be Defended
Troy Miller, CEO of National Religious Broadcasters, told NTD's "Capitol Report" that there is "a lot of misunderstanding about the bill and what the bill actually does," and that the bill's name is "erroneous" because it is really about "pushing beliefs on other people [who] don't hold those kinds of beliefs."

He continued, "sinister type of stuff in that it gives up the possibility for litigation or civil cases if you don't approve or validate same-sex weddings," he added. "So that's our issue, and a lot of the Christian community's concern."

In the United States, the constitutional right to free speech and religious freedom has always been safeguarded. However, there has been a "continuous chipping away at it, this relentless onslaught" by people in power throughout time, according to Miller.

"I believe it's because, you know, the Christian worldview is sort of the final firewall that stands against this kind of leftist, woke kind of Marxist agenda that's pushing its way through America's institutions and into the corridors of Congress," he said.

If objects are protected, cross the first amendment off the list.
Since the Clinton Administration did not follow the Obama Administration in continuing to destroy America, the Biden Administration is making up for lost time and ground.
