This week, lawmakers in Washington, DC, passed a bill to make it illegal for the president to pull the US out of NATO without their colleagues’ consent. The passage was made in response to long-standing fears that, should he run for office again, Donald Trump may want to withdraw from the alliance.

This provision was included in the National Defense Authorization Act, a yearly measure that specifies defense strategy and which the House of Representatives passed on Thursday; now it awaits President Biden’s signature.

This bill, which is being pushed by Senators Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), would make it such that the president cannot pull the United States out of NATO unless either two-thirds of the Senate or other laws are passed by Congress.

From 2021 onward, Kaine and Rubio have advocated for comparable legislation. This week, the House adopted the strategy for the first time when it passed a defense policy measure.

When asked why the chamber accepted the clause, the Republican-led House Armed Services Committee remained silent. No reaction was given by the office of Republican Speaker Mike Johnson (La.).

A bill forbidding the president from withdrawing from NATO without congressional consent was enacted by Congress on December 16. Banana republic leaders act this way, so I’m not shocked. Troubles, or forced suppression, by our elected authorities are plaguing Americans.

Furthermore, because of the best Congress money can buy, our MPs now have the authority to pull out of NATO. More specifically, a measure prohibiting the president from quitting NATO without the consent of Congress was passed by the legislature on December 16. Everything is not working right.

It goes after Trump and one of his possible beneficial initiatives as president: eliminating NATO, the troublesome institution. President Joe Biden quickly signed the National Defense Authorization Act, which contains this new NATO language, so we are stuck with it.

Consider NATO’s past: after bombing Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, and Libya, they are currently destroying Ukraine, or more precisely, the disaster that NATO had vowed to bring about by swallowing the country. The United States withdrew its military from Afghanistan after months of NATO’s legendary, unparalleled failure, confident that its puppet government could outlast the Taliban.

Indeed, the nation and the Taliban were destroyed by NATO and American bombs, weren’t they? Our proxy was unable to keep the Taliban at bay long enough for the retreating US jets to be able to take flight. Furthermore, NATO had no business being in Afghanistan for twenty years. David Petraeus, one of our military strategists, told us that victory was certain and even claimed in an August 8, 2022, Atlantic piece that “we could have won.” Nobody should ever doubt his abilities. Not at all!

Libya, long the most affluent country in Africa, was reduced by NATO’s disastrous 2011 military intervention to a dunghill with open-air slave markets. The 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia was not much better; it was uncalled for and possibly staged to deflect attention from the terrible circumstances surrounding a sex scandal and President Bill “NATO Uber Alles” Clinton’s impeachment. That brings an end to NATO’s valiant efforts that have caused chaos, agony, and bloodshed throughout the world in the name of freedom and democracy. What lessons has NATO learned from these tragedies in order of occurrence? Perhaps nothing at all.

Analyzing NATO’s plans for Finland and the South China Sea, we find that Taiwan is left out in the cold and that U.S. bases are spread throughout the entire country, from Helsinki to Utsjoki. Do you really believe Taiwan is in decline? Several senior American officials have urged bombing Taiwan rather than letting China take over the island’s computer chip industry. Taiwan is the subject of an unhealthy American fascination. Meanwhile, in July, Beijing was incensed by NATO’s portrayal of China as a serious danger to-you guessed it-NATO!
