Watchman: Daily Devotional, Isaiah 42:16 “I Will Lead the Blind by Ways They Have Not Known, Along Unfamiliar Paths I Will Guide Them; I Will Turn the Darkness Into Light Before Them and Make the Rough Places Smooth. These Are the Things I Will Do; I Will Not Forsake Them
Romans 4:19-21 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead-since he was about a hundred years old-and that Sarah's womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.
Paul argues that Abraham is the father of all Christians, whether they are Jewish or not. Since he believed God's word and was considered righteous before he got circumcised, he is the father of those who don't follow Jewish rituals but still believe in God. His example shows us very clearly that we are made right with God not by what we do, but by faith in and trusting God.
We can all learn from his faith. Even though his and his wife's bodies couldn't make a baby, he still believed God's promise that they would have a boy. Would you believe God if he told you that a 100-year-old man and a 90-year-old woman would have a child? Faith is the belief in things that can't be seen or understood by the normal mind. God is happy with faith (Hebrews 11:6).
What promises has God made to you? He has told everyone who believes that He will make them look like His Son. You might think it's impossible when you look at your thoughts and deeds right now, but God has said it will happen. Won't you be like Abraham, who looked beyond what he could see and was sure that God could do what He said He would do? Once you are sure, you can start to act on the word by faith.
Think about: Live with the faith that what God has started, He will finish. It will keep you from feeling sorry for yourself when you fail.

The Watchman
In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
