Watchman Says Satan Soldiers Are Going After Our Children– School Satan Club Order by Federal Court–Sponsored by the Satanic Temple

HNewsWire: HELLERTOWN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- A federal judge has ordered the Saucon Valley School District to permit a controversial club to meet on middle school grounds. The ruling states that the district must allow the 'After School Satan Club' to meet at the times and locations specified in the February agreement.

The Saucon Valley School District's decision to let a Satanic group hold after-school meetings at a middle school in the district, targeting students aged 5 to 12, has sparked widespread controversy in the Lehigh Valley.

"I think it's a little ridiculous," said Hellertown resident Carrie Spier. Rowan Nowicki from Hellertown said, "If they can have Christian clubs or anything like that, I don't see a problem with having an alternative viewpoint." The national campaign director for the After School Satan Club, June Everette, has stated that the club only visits schools at the request of parents. "It typically occurs after their child has been sent a Good News Club flyer," Everette explained.

Another Bible-focused after-school club at Saucon Valley Middle School is Good News Club, which is supported by a nearby evangelical church.
To promote acceptance, Everette explained, the After School Satan Club sets up shop in schools.

Everett emphasized that the members of the Satanic Temple did not believe in or worship Satan. We don't go around telling people that Satan is on their side and God doesn't exist. In the club, we don't preach or preach about our beliefs. According to her, the club encourages kids to think critically and compassionately. The name and the picture on the flyer are what people are worried about. Connecting it to a person we automatically think of as malicious "I don't think it's a good thing," said Rev. Lisa Borr of the New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church.

In a statement, the superintendent of Saucon Valley School District said, "Religious groups are among those the district has allowed to rent our facilities over the years." The district is prohibited by law from favoring any one group over another that requests to use SVSD facilities. Some parents have expressed concern about their children attending the after-school Satan Club.

Wednesday classes were cancelled due to a threat alert, but school officials aren't saying whether or not the incident is related to the ongoing controversy over the group.
