The Walt Disney Company's executives and producers stated during a recent internal meeting that there will be a renewed effort to make leading characters gay or transgender in films and television shows, with one discussing how she has been working to enact a "not-at-all-secret gay agenda" in several programs.

Karey Burke, president of Disney General Entertainment Content, said at the conference that she is the mother of two "queer children," one of whom identifies as a gender other than the one into which they were born.

Burke said that Disney has previously produced "great, breakthrough LGBTQIA storylines throughout the years," but a separate executive bemoaned during a recent open corporate discussion that there had been "a handful of queer protagonists."

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual is an acronym meaning lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual.

The introduction in Florida of a measure prohibiting discussion of "sexual orientation or gender identity" in kindergarten through third grade—Gov. Ron DeSantis approved the legislation on March 28—and the subsequent backlash from some Disney employees acted as a wake-up call, Burke said.

"Our tales have a plethora of LGBTQIA characters, but there are insufficient protagonists and storylines in which gay characters are allowed to be characters without having to be about homosexual experiences. That has been really eye-opening for me, and I can tell you that if this moment had not occurred, I believe that I, as a leader, and [my] colleagues would not have focused on it," she told colleagues and other Disney workers. "Going ahead, I am positive that I will be more vigilant, as I am certain that we will be, and I hope that this is a point when.... we just do not allow each other to regress."

Christopher Rufo, a filmmaker and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, got and shared the video and numerous additional snippets from the conference online.

"I've talked with many Disney workers who claim the corporation has completely lost its way. From critical racial theory to gender ideology, CEOs are promoting radical left-wing activism across the board, from deleting the terms 'boys' and 'girls' from theme parks to monitoring 'canonical trans characters' in children's programming," Rufo told The Epoch Times via email.

Disney, which did not reply to a request for comment, issued a statement on March 11 opposing the Parental Rights in Education Bill, referring to it by the name favored by its detractors.

At the time, Disney CEO Bob Chapek informed all employees that he had received complaints from employees about their "pain, anger, and grief" regarding Disney's reaction to the law, adding that the legislation posed a "threat to fundamental human rights."

"You expected me to be a more stalwart supporter in the struggle for equal rights, and I disappointed you. "I really apologize," Chapek wrote. He said that Disney will immediately expand its funding for advocacy organizations opposing similar laws in other jurisdictions and would act as a "outspoken advocate" for the LGBTQ+ community's "protections, visibility, and opportunities."

Disney noted in a statement after DeSantis' signing of the measure that it hoped the bill will be overturned or knocked down in court.

Prior to signing the law, DeSantis criticized what he called educational materials for young children that included knowledge about "sexuality and woke gender ideology," which he claimed was unsuitable for young children and something parents do not want their children to learn.

In Florida, investigators discovered at least six school districts with questionable practices, including one that allowed pupils to transition to a new gender without parental agreement.

DeSantis said Tuesday that Disney's comments about the company's mission "stepped the line," adding, "This state is run by the interests of the people of the state of Florida." It is not motivated by the desires of California business leaders. They are not in charge of this state. They have no say over this state."

Christina Pushaw, DeSantis' press secretary, told The Epoch Times in an email that Disney created a name as a family-friendly firm and that it would be a "terrible mistake" to abandon that in order to fight for sex and gender ideology in grades K-3.

Additionally, Rufo uploaded recordings of Disney's diversity and inclusion manager Vivian Ware discussing how the corporation altered all of its theme park welcomes from "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls" to "hello, everyone" or "hello, friends."

"We want to create that wonderful moment with our cast members, with our casts, and we don't want to think that just because someone may appear as female in our interpretation, they don't want to be called princess," Ware said.

Meanwhile, Disney production coordinator Allen March discussed his two-year collaboration with the Moon Girl crew.

The crew has been "very receptive to exploring queer tales," March said, but there is a growing recognition that key characters should be transgender, asexual, or bisexual in order to effectively explore those elements.

Another segment included Latoya Raveneau, an executive producer on The Proud Family and Eureka!, who said that she had heard before to joining Disney that the business prohibited the portrayal of lesbian and transgender characters, but discovered that was not the case once employed.

Disney executives and showrunners have been "very receptive to my not-at-all-secret LGBT agenda," she said.

"I felt as if it was that way in the past, but something must have changed—they're reversing course, they're going hard," Raveneau said, adding that she was "simply injecting queerness everywhere I could" and "no one would stop me, no one was attempting to stop me."

According to James Lindsay, creator of New Discourses, the films show an ideology known as queer theory, which has been defined as aiming at ensuring people's identities are never solid.

"Queer Theory is not an endorsement of the LGBT community, and it is something that one must be nurtured into," he said. "It is a Marxist view of sex, gender, sexuality, and health in which 'normal' is seen as bourgeois property that must be eliminated."
