Bill Gates has presented a novel wafer-like mRNA film that can be maintained at room temperature and delivered to individuals for needle-free vaccine delivery under their tongues. The Gates Foundation-funded Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) has invested $1.2 million in Jurata Thin Film Inc. to help the company develop its proprietary vaccine platform, which the company claims stabilizes mRNA-containing lipid nanoparticle vaccine technologies in a thin film.

According to The Defender, Jurata claims the film is designed to be "thermostable," meaning it can be created and stored at ambient temperature for three years, removing the requirement for energy-intensive cold storage required by conventional mRNA vaccinations. To deliver the vaccination, the film can be put inside the cheek or under the tongue.

It can also be rehydrated with an aqueous solution and administered nasally or via other methods that do not require passing through the digestive tract. Jurata and CEPI promote the technology as the way to bringing immunizations to the world's impoverished. "If shown to be successful," CEPI stated in a press statement, the technology will "help expand access to mRNA vaccines in underserved regions and advance the global response to future emerging infectious disease outbreaks."

However, scientists who spoke with The Defender claimed that "success" did not appear to be imminent. They also stated that the technology could cause problems that go beyond the substantial hazards associated with conventional mRNA transfection technology. "Vaccines require cold storage (mostly refrigeration), and mRNA vaccines are especially susceptible to heat damage during shipping and storage," stated Brian Hooker, Ph.D., senior director of science and research at Children's Health Defense (CHD).

A thermostable platform eliminates the need for refrigeration, which would be a great breakthrough in eliminating 'cold chain needs' in delivering vaccines to the developing world, as well as a significant cost savings in total deployment. I would be worried that the mRNA wouldn't be as thermostable as purported, and this would induce sequence mutations and other damage to the genetic code." Jurata is a tiny biotech company that creates films for vaccine administration and other medicinal applications. Furthermore, its founders launched Bamboo Therapeutics, a gene therapy biotech business that Pfizer acquired for $827 million in 2016. Thermos-table, needle-free vaccines are a ruse.
