Member of Legislative Assembly In Alberta Calls For The Release Of Freedom Convoy Organizer Tamara Lich.

An Alberta MLA is advocating for the release of Tamara Lich, a constituent who was arrested for organizing the truckers’ Freedom Convoy protest against federal COVID-19 rules.

Drew Barnes, MLA for Cypress-Medicine Hat, published a statement on Twitter on Feb. 27 headlined “Free Tamara,” calling Lich’s continued detention a “miscarriage of justice” now that the Ottawa demonstration has finished.

“In her position with the freedom convoy to Ottawa, she freely admits to participating in nonviolent civil disobedience.” “She is charged with mischief and nothing else,” Barnes said.

“Despite this, an Ontario judge has denied her bail, refusing to accept her promise to return to Alberta peacefully.”

On February 17, Lich was arrested and charged with inciting to conduct mischief. On Feb. 22, Ontario Court Justice Julie Bourgeois denied her bail, stating that her detention is “essential for the protection and safety of the public.”

Barnes called Lich a “political prisoner” and accused “partisan media and [the] Eastern elite” for casting her as a “danger to her own country” because she “embarrassed them” in his statement.

“She’s been presented as a violent criminal, a foreign spy, and an anarchist in the media.” The opposite could not be further from the truth. She is a former energy worker of Metis descent, a mother, and grandmother, and sometimes plays guitar in a local band,” he stated.

“I can only infer that she is a political prisoner of a profoundly degraded establishment.”

Protests over the federal government’s vaccine mandate for cross-border truckers began in Ottawa at the end of January. As numerous convoys of trucks arrived in the nation’s capital, supporters joined in to demand that all pandemic-related restrictions be lifted. In sympathy with the truckers, protesters shut down multiple border crossings between Canada and the United States.

During the three-week protest in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declined to meet with the truckers personally or have any representatives hear their issues. On Feb. 14, he invoked the Emergencies Act, which allowed police broad powers to evict the demonstrators, including ordering towing companies to remove automobiles stationed in the city’s central business district.

Financial measures were enacted as part of the emergency directives, allowing banks to freeze the accounts of individuals and corporations suspected of being participating in the demonstration without a court warrant. The government also expanded anti-money laundering legislation to cover crowdfunding platforms that gathered donations for truckers, requiring them to register with Canada’s Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre.

The House of Commons passed a motion on Feb. 21 authorizing the use of the Emergencies Act. Two days later, Trudeau withdrew the Act, claiming that it was no longer necessary.

“The arrogance and elitism of Ottawa’s political establishment was fully exposed,” Barnes said of the Trudeau government’s confiscation of the bank accounts of hundreds of people who gave to the convoy.

“Nothing instills dread in the hearts of political elites like widespread civil disobedience.” They consider themselves as intelligent and benign rulers, with the authority to lead society as a result of their position. “Every single trucker, farmer, and supporter of the freedom convoy who stands up to them exposes them for who they really are,” Barnes said.

“So the issue remains: why is Tamara Lich still imprisoned in an Ontario prison?” The same officials that worked so hard to prevent her from staying are now refusing to let her go.”

The Liberals and NDP regularly referred to protestors as extremists throughout the Ottawa rally, accusing them of being linked to hate groups. Trudeau reminded Conservative MP Melissa Lantsman, who is Jewish, during a parliamentary question period on Feb. 16 that his party stands with individuals who wave swastikas.

Trudeau has truly outdone himself by pointing his finger back at his citizens, claiming that the problem is their yearning for medical autonomy. Perhaps citizens wouldn’t be disrupting the economy if globalist sell outs like Trudeau, Fauci, Newsom, Inslee, and Pelosi weren’t imposing tyrannical COVID-19 legislation on their people. These people are public servants, and will no doubt provide the public service we demand. 37% of the worlds population is being grossly neglected by public officials who seek to aid big pharma catalyze biotechnological innovation. This agenda inherently defies the will of God, and will no doubt come with divine consequence.
