StevieRay: This woke me up. Lying Joe Biden supports grotesquely life-altering chemical and physical treatment for children who are confused about gender, but he opposes attempts to adequately enlighten and advise such youngsters to accept their biological sex.

The order directs the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to develop a program to "decrease the danger of juvenile exposure to so-called conversion therapy."

The FTC has been urged to examine if conversion therapy is a "unfair or misleading act or practice" and to issue "appropriate" consumer warnings. Biden's executive order also contains a strategy to leverage the United States' worldwide power to combat conversion therapy across the globe.

Conservatives have criticized the Democrats' proposal to outlaw conversion therapy. "The same folks who want to prohibit '#conversion-therapy' because it's 'hazardous' believe it's okay to inject 8 year old girls with male hormones," conservative political talk radio personality Andrew Wilkow tweeted on June 16.

Alabama started enforcing a prohibition on gender change surgery and hormone blockers in May. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has likewise shown his support for similar measures in his state.

"When they say gender-affirming care, what they really mean a lot of times is you're castrating a young boy, sterilizing a young girl, doing mastectomies for these very young girls," DeSantis said on The Truth With Lisa Boothe podcast, referring to a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) report that supported gender-affirming practices.

"You're doing things that are permanently changing them, and then they're not going to be able to undo it, so I don't believe it's acceptable for minors at all."

According to WebMD, conversion treatments might include psychotherapy techniques such as aversion therapy, which uses electric shocks, medicinal procedures such as steroid and hormone therapies, or spiritual approaches administered by clergy or other religious counselors that involve prayers.

The discussion over conversion therapy is taking place in the context of a growing societal trend of persons identifying as transgender. The issue over conversion therapy is also heating up in the United Kingdom, where the government has proposed laws to outlaw such practices.
