Do you believe that God is love as John says in 1John4:7,8? And that because He is love He loves just as He instructs His children to? If you do then you must also believe that His forgiveness is given as freely as He tells us to forgive. Because to forgive is an expression of His love. That He does not hold trespasses against us just as He instructs us not to hold them against one another. The reason I ask is, if we have believed that God is only able to express His love for us because His requirement of a penalty being paid for our offenses has been met by the torturous and bloody death of Christ as so many teach, then to love as God does shouldn’t we require the same “pound of flesh” God did, from those who have offended us? Doesn’t it make perfect sense that if that’s how we believe God’s love works then that’s exactly how we should love, right? In this message we will take a look at what the Bible says. And depending on your perception of who God is you may be very surprised when you hear the truth regarding the loving forgiveness of God.

1 John 4:7-8 | Love One Another | Bible Devotional - YouTube

When the scripture tells believers that they need to walk in love it means that we are to walk in a constant attitude of forgiveness. Not holding things against people when they offend us. But, instead always responding with love for those who do. When the scripture tells the believer to “love one another as I have loved you” it means to live in a constant attitude of forgiveness. Not holding real or perceived wrongs against the one who does them.

Jesus told Israel when asked how many times they should forgive their brother that they are to forgive not 7 times, but 70 times 7. And that if they do not forgive they would not be forgiven. Even telling Israel that if they do not forgive freely as God does they will be given over to the tormentors until they will. “So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” Mt.18:21-35.

Paul adds that if we hold wrongs against one another a root of bitterness will spring up that will defile many. This bitterness affects our relationships with everything and everyone around us to such an extent that it makes all our relationships toxic. Fighting and arguing and cutting one another off for any perceived wrong. It may even begin to make us feel sick inside(James5:16). So unforgiveness is one of, if not the most, harmful thing we can do to ourselves and those around us. God knows this because He made us in His image and likeness. And this is why He wants us to love and forgive just as He does. Freely. Because it’s what is best for us both physically and emotionally.

Do you think that God walks in love any less than He instructs us to? Of course not. It is God’s love after all that is shed abroad in our hearts that allows us to live in this attitude of forgiveness He instructs us to live in. Without it we would be totally dependent on our own strength to forgive. And as we can see by the shape this world is in, trying to live in an attitude of forgiveness, which is really just loving one another, doesn’t usually work too well when done in our own strength.

So if God is our example for how we are to walk in love, always forgiving from the heart every real or perceived wrong, then why do so many make Him out to be such a “hard man” as the man in Mt.25:24 who did not know God did? One who requires the bloody and torturous death of the innocent so His justice is met before He can forgive? He tells us to forgive freely, right? Without requiring first the proverbial pound of flesh, right? But, many believe He is not able to do so. Is that what you think of the God of the Bible? The God that saves all who will trust in Him from death to life? Do you believe He demands of you something He can not do Himself? If so then you have been deceived by the spirit of antichrist. And really do not know Him at all.

Proverbs Chapter 13:17-19, Doctrine of Ambassadorship ...

The Bible says that God does not require anything from us to be forgiven by Him. He forgives because He is love. There is nothing standing in the way of our forgiveness except our own refusal to love Him and one another. It is only because so many have placed themselves under the law that they believe God requires a penalty be paid for forgiveness to happen. But, God requires no such thing any more than He wants us to require such a thing. God freely gives it just as He instructs us to do. In 2Cor.5:19,20 we see Paul teaching that God forgives exactly this way. A forgiveness that is because God is love. And because He is love He came in the same flesh all men have so that He could join with us in our death. So that by His resurrection He could conquer death so we could have eternal life through faith, our relationship, with Him.

What Paul is saying here is that God showed that He has already forgiven us before we ask. So forgiveness of sins is not what stands in our way to receive eternal life. What stands in our way is that we have not confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in His resurrection as Paul says brings our salvation in Rom.10:9,10. What stands in the way of our receiving eternal life then is that we do not know Him. Not that we are not forgiven. Forgiveness has been freely given to all mankind because God is love. He showed that love through His death on the cross and His resurrection that conquered death. The problem is that forgiveness of sins does not equate to knowing Him. Any more than we really know a judge just because he excuses a traffic ticket.

So Jesus’ death was not God’s requirement of a penalty for sin being paid to appease God’s wrath so we could be forgiven. That’s the pagan beliefs of the worshippers of Molech. It is not the love of God that is shed abroad in the hearts of those who trust in Him. And it is certainly not the love of God of which Paul writes saying, “To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God” in 2Cor.5:19,20.

So what we see that has happened by God loving us freely is that He has already forgiven everyone of every real or perceived wrong that they may have done. And He does not impute trespasses to anyone. He has done so by taking away the law so that Israel will not have their law breaking imputed to them by God any longer. And since He has already forgiven everyone then all that is needed for all men to have eternal life is to receive it by faith from the giver of life, Jesus Christ. He conquered death for us so that we could have this eternal life.

well done good and faithful servant – Andover UMC

So if you think that God is holding all your wrongdoings against you so that you must constantly go to Him for forgiveness, whether by confession to a priest or confession to God Himself, it is because you have trusted in the false teaching of the charlatans who do not know Jesus. And it means that you do not yet know God or His love. But, are instead deceived by the spirit of antichrist to trust in a Jesus, in an atonement, and in a god of your own making. The hard man of Mt.25:24. A god who reaps where he does not sow. Because you have made salvation conditioned upon your constantly asking for forgiveness from things God does not impute to you in the first place. Because if He did then He would be denying His own love. A love that He gave us so that we could love as He does. Not imputing trespasses against those who hurt or offend us.

But, God forgives freely because He is love. Only under the law were sins ever imputed to anyone anyway. And Paul plainly tells us in Rom.5:13 that when there is no law sin is not imputed. A law that was only given to Israel for the stated purpose of keeping them as a people whose bloodline God would bring the Messiah through. This is why Paul said in Gal.3:19 “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.” The law served it’s purpose and has now been done away because of Christ. Because “God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”

Note this verse says “God was in Christ”. Past tense. This means that the act of Christ on the cross was when God was in Christ showing man that He does not impute their trespasses to them. So how is it that so many get this teaching of Paul’s so wrong? How is it that they see the cross as a penalty being paid for sin so that God could love them? Because what they believe about God is really what is true about the worship of Molech. Showing that they have never come to a saving faith in the true God.But, have instead been deceived by the spirit of antichrist to worship and serve the false God. A different Jesus. A Jesus who does not love unconditionally as we are told to by the true Jesus. One who does not walk in an attitude of forgiveness. One who demands the torturous and bloody death of the innocent to appease his wrath so that you may be forgiven. This is not the God of the Bible. It is Molech.

But, the God who came as a man to join with man in our death so that we could by faith join with Him in His eternal life says “I am not imputing your trespasses to you. Now don’t impute trespasses done against you against those who do them. Walk in love as I have loved you.” Do you believe God loves you? Then why won’t you believe He does not impute any trespasses to you? Why do you constantly go back over and over again asking forgiveness for things that were never held against you by God in the first place? If you do then it is because you have been deceived by the salvation by works sin nature and original sin doctrines of antichrist. And have not come to a love for the truth. But, God wants to deliver you from these false doctrines. And the false god that has deceived you.

Will you be free from those lies that hold you captive so that you will no longer oppose yourself? Will you come into the love of God that does not impute trespasses against you? Jesus is waiting for you to come to Him to receive His eternal life that He died and rose again to provide you with. Will you turn from idols to trust in the true and living God? If you will then pray this prayer with me.

Dear Jesus, thank you that you do not impute trespasses against me. Thank you that your death gave power to a New Covenant wherein is the eternal life that I need. Thank you that you offer this eternal life freely. I trust in you and your resurrection. Thank you for delivering me from the pagan lies of the false god Molech. Thank you for showing me your love and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer with me then welcome to the family of God! I rejoice with you. The family of God rejoices with you. And all God’s angels rejoice with you too.

I’ll see you there or in the air!
