Edward O’Hara… Is the whole world experiencing peace and safety? Or is there turmoil and insecurity? No doubt there is the latter. But, Paul gives us great hope in these last days. He gives instruction in 1Thes.5:3 that says the world will be saying peace and safety just before sudden destruction. So what is really going on?
Jesus said in Mt.24:37 that as it was in the days of Noah so it shall be at the time of the coming of the Son of man. Jesus also made a similar statement regarding the days of Lot in Luke17:28. This means that what happened then will happen at the time just before Jesus’ revealing. The Apocalypse. What do we see from the Bible that happened then that Jesus is telling us in Mt.24 will happen just before His return?
We read that Noah was told to prepare for the flood that was coming by making a ship to carry the righteous to safety until the destruction passed. We also read that the angels who came to Lot told him “Hurry up, escape there; for I cannot do anything till you get there.”Gen.19:22.
In the story we see that the angels were referring to the destruction of these cities that could not happen until he, a righteous man according to God, was gone from that city. And not only gone from the city. But, after he arrived at his destination. And so it is in our day. And we also see in these statements Jesus made that until the destruction comes people would continue to live just as they always had. Completely oblivious to the coming destruction. Marrying and giving in marriage etc…
But, Paul said that the restrainer would have to be removed first before the destruction would come. He also taught that there would be a great time of peace so that people will be saying “peace and safety” just before the “sudden destruction”.
The restraining force that is in the world today is the Holy Spirit filled church. We know this because this is the mystery Paul spoke of in his epistles that makes our dispensation different from all the rest. A dispensation where believers would have “Christ in you the hope of glory”. Col.1:27. Never before in history has there been such a group of people filled with the Holy Spirit. And in 2Cor.5:19 Paul says the righteous of this dispensation are the ministers of reconciliation.
So it is not the Holy Spirit that is the restrainer Paul says will be “taken out of the way” in 2Thes.2:7. It is the people, that is the true church, who are spirit filled that is the restrainer that will be removed. And just as Noah and Lot were removed before the destruction came. So too believers will be removed just before the destruction comes. This is why Jesus said the time just before His coming will be as it was in the days of Noah and Lot.
This is what Paul was telling believers in 2Thes.2. This is why he wrote to the them to tell them not to be afraid that they had missed the Lord’s coming. Saying that that day shall not come until there is first a great falling away. And then after the restrainer is removed then the man of sin is revealed. This then is the blessed hope for all who are truly saved.
There is a great deal that is happening right now that if we will have eyes to see and ears to hear we will realize is all pointing to the great time of peace Paul spoke of in 1Thes.5:3. Not the time of horror that comes in the great tribulation. For Paul says in this passage that men will be saying “peace and safety and then sudden destruction comes upon them as a woman with child and they shall not escape”.
If we look at what some are trying to bring upon the earth right now it is impossible to see anyone saying peace and safety. But, this is what Paul says must first come to pass before the sudden destruction comes. So it is plain that their plan for the world will not be accomplished. Not yet anyway. Because there must be a time of peace first.
The sad thing is that even when this time of peace is upon the world most will still not acknowledge the true God. But, will give honor and thanks to their false new age gods, and some to their gnostic Jesus the doctrine of original sin preaches, for the peace they are experiencing.
This is why the sudden destruction comes. Because God’s purpose for the great tribulation is to reveal to Israel, and to the world, who Jesus is. God does not bring the great tribulation to destroy mankind. But, just as the flood and the destruction at Sodom and Gemorah were not to destroy mankind, but to save mankind. This is why Jesus said, “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”
I could be wrong, but I believe what we are seeing now is the set up for the time when the whole world is saying “peace and safety” before the “sudden destruction” of 1Thes.5:3. God is once again working a great miracle in the earth. A miracle that most will ascribe to something or someone other than the true God. And those who have trusted in the pagan doctrine of original sin with it’s Gnostic Jesus will still trust in it. But, peace will come nonetheless. A time when there may yet still be great opportunity to tell the world about Jesus. And afterward the sudden destruction.
But before the sudden destruction God will remove the restrainer, His spirit filled people, from the earth. Just as He did in the days of Noah and Lot as Jesus said would happen.
Are you ready to meet Jesus in the clouds as the angel told them He would? As the disciples saw Jesus ascend up into the clouds the angel told them “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” And Paul told us “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
If you want to meet the Lord as Paul said here then prepare yourself by trusting in Jesus as Lord now. And believe that He has raised from the dead. And you will be ready to meet Him when He comes in the clouds to receive us to Himself.
We don’t know if we will be here for this great event in the near future. But, if you will pray with me you will be ready for whenever it is that He comes for you.
Dear Jesus, thank you for joining with me in my death. So that I can join with you in eternal life. I trust in you now my Lord and savior. I believe that you have conquered death by the resurrection. Fill me with your spirit and make me heir to your kingdom. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
God bless you in your new life in Christ. Now as you read the Bible believe what it plainly says. And trust the Holy Spirit to lead you into all His truth. He will do it because He wants you to know Him and His love for you. And you shall have eternal life.
See you there or in the air!
