HNewsWire: The Real Motives Behind the Attack on Free Speech and the Suppression of the Flow of Truth Following the news that President Biden would establish a Disinformation Governance Board under the Department of Homeland Security devoted to 'countering disinformation,' some have drawn analogies to the 'Ministry of Truth' depicted in George Orwell's book 1984.
Every dictatorship has a propaganda wing, which is referred to as the "Ministry of Truth." With the establishment of the so-called "Disinformation Governance Board," the Biden Administration has now legally entered the ranks of such dictatorships in the United States.
Conservatives have called for the dissolution of the Department of Homeland Security's new "disinformation governance board," which will be led by a woman who says free speech makes her "shudder" and who falsely labeled the Hunter Biden laptop story as disinformation. Republicans have called for the dissolution of the body, which they describe as a "monstrosity."
This, the Senator concluded, "can only be presumed to be the primary objective of this new Disinformation Governance Board: to mobilize the powers of the federal government to suppress conservative and dissident speech." He went on to say, "This is dangerous and UN-American."
Politico reports that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under Joe Biden is developing a "Disinformation Governance Board," according to a newsletter from the publication. Nina Jankowicz, who will be in charge of the new initiative, subsequently verified that the news had been received.
A new Disinformation Governance Board would coordinate "countering disinformation connected to national security," with a particular emphasis on "irregular migration" and Russia, according to Politico.
It was subsequently verified by Nina Jankowicz in a tweet that Nina Jankowicz would serve as executive director of the board of directors. According to Politico, Jankowicz previously worked as a disinformation fellow at the Wilson Center, advised the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry as part of the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship, and led the National Democratic Institute's Russia and Belarus initiatives.
According to Jankowicz, who sent a tweet on Wednesday, "I am honored to be working in the Biden Administration @DHSgov and contributing to the shaping of our counter-disinformation efforts."
Jankowicz is a fervent believer in Russian connection conspiracy theories, and he has often questioned the validity of the 2016 presidential election results. Trump was "compromised" by Russia, according to her, and she has referred to Hunter Biden's laptop as part of a Russian misinformation operation on several occasions. Even in the immediate wake of the 2016 presidential election, Jankowicz speculated that Russian hackers may have tampered with the vote totals.
In an interview with The Daily Wire, McCarthy said Democrats believe that free speech is a problem and that greater government is the answer to the issue.
In addition, he said, "the concept that the same party that spent four years peddling the Russia connection fake, buried the Hunter Biden laptop story, and likened parents to domestic terrorists feels it has the credibility to tell Americans what is factual is ridiculous."
According to the Congressman, while referring to Nina Jankowicz, "it is revealing that the person who would oversee Biden's Orwellian Disinformation Governance Board is a political activist who has a lengthy history of falling for and propagating misinformation."
Further, McCarthy urged, "It is easy to imagine this individual abusing the term 'disinformation' to suppress facts and spin away inconvenient truths about the administration's many failings, including their failures to secure the border." McCarthy continued, "The idea that the federal government should control speech sounds uncomfortably close to the Thought Police," he added. Immediately, Vice President Biden must reject his intention to establish a modern-day Ministry of Truth."
Representative Jim Jordan expressed his displeasure with the decision, asking Mayorkas "You sent out a bulletin two months ago, a big beautiful bulletin here in red, white, and blue, with a lot of information on it. You said that misleading narratives, mis-, dis-, and mal-information, or MDM, as you refer to it, misleading narratives, damage public faith in the government's ability to deliver on its promises. I was just wondering whether the statement made by the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Miss Walensky, that those who have been vaccinated would not get the virus undermined public confidence in the government."
"Did Dr. Fauci, the highest-paid official in our nation and the brightest guy on the globe, when he said that the virus did not originate in a laboratory, erode public confidence in the government?" Jordan asked. 'And will this be something that the governing board takes into consideration?'
When 51 former intelligence officers informed us that the Hunter Biden narrative was–had all the hallmarks of Russian disinformation–we were stunned. "Is this something that the governance board that you have just constituted will be looking into?" says the chairman. Jordan also inquired as follows:
Elon Musk, the soon-to-be Twitter owner, also expressed his displeasure with the establishment of the misinformation section, calling it "discomforting."
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, on the other hand, has said that he would "take action" against the new "Ministry of Truth."
SRH: The new misinformation board is consistent with previous DHS measures that were adopted during President Biden's tenure in the White House. According to a DHS terrorist danger warning published in February, "disinformation" is the most serious national security concern.
The Department of Homeland Security identified "extensive online dissemination of false or misleading narratives about alleged widespread election fraud and COVID-19" as two sources of "MDM," or disinformation, according to the DHS.
"Grievances related with these themes served as inspiration for violent extremist assaults throughout the year 2021," the document stated, without providing any specific instances of such acts.
