WHAT TO BE THANKFUL FOR? FOR THE BELIEVER THE LIST SHOULD BE ENDLESS- Eph.3:1-8

Believer and unbeliever alike, we have so much here in America. But, with all the complaining about what people don’t have you would think that we have little to nothing.

We are clothed, fed, and a roof over our heads. That’s much more than many around the world. So being thankful should be our second nature. And so it is when we recognize as the Psalmist does God’s hand in our lives.

Our very breath and every heartbeat is there because God blesses us with them. The gifts we’ve been given by God to share with others who do not yet know Jesus. The truth of the gospel message being the utmost.

A message that Jesus came as a man just as we are. Having the same flesh with its natural needs and wants. Yet because He was spiritual too Hewas able to choose to listen and trust in the Father in a way that was never possible for any other natural man.

And this was why He came. So that while being natural, and choosing to believe the gospel when we heard it, we too would be made a spiritual being whose abilities became that which could relate to and hear from God as never before.

Because when we are born again we have created in us a spirit that we never had before. A spirit that communes with the Holy Spirit who comes top live in us when we trust in Jesus and are born again.

We are made children of God rather than just something that was created in His image and likeness. As special as that was it does not compare to the spiritual part being created in us when we are born again.

This is why Jesus compared the spirit created in us to a new birth. Because being born from our mother’s womb we became natural men. But, being born of God by His Spirit we are made spirit.

And that spirit joins us to God as His children and heirs to His kingdom. Just as being born from our mother’s womb made us children of our earthly parents and heirs of all the earthly things they have.

This is why when we are born again we can not be unborn again. We can never lose our child of the living God and heir to His kingdom status. We are forever joined to Him by the birth/creation of a spirit in us. A spirit that only exists in those who are born of and now children of God.

So be thankful believer that you have been made a heir of God for all eternity. That the things that this life has to offer are dung and loss compared to knowing Jesus.

And that there is nothing that can ever separate us from His love. Love that made Jesus come as a man to a world that did not know Him. For the Jew first by His coming. And then also to the rest of the nations through the teachings of His apostles.

Especially through Paul’s teachings. Showing us how to rightly divide the word of truth and see God’s ministry to us through dispensations. Also what Paul called ages.

Knowing by this the difference between what Jesus ministered to Israel when He came the first time, and when He resumes dealing with them in the great tribulation. As we read in the letters to the churches in Rev.2,3.

Remember He told the disciples that He had to go away or the Holy Spirit could not come in John16? He was telling them that His ministry for that age or dispensation had come to an end. Because His ministry is to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

But, that for the age to come when He left He would send the Holy Spirit to them and us to lead and guide us in the truth. That He would take from Him and give it to us. Reproving the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment.

And that this reproof would be something that excludes works. Making belief in Him the requirement for being joined to Him as a child of God and heir to His kingdom.

This is something that could never have happened if Adam and Eve had not eaten the fruit. But, since they did we can all become the spiritual beings that Adam and Eve and everyone from all ages past never could.

So on top of all we have in this life that are blessings from God that we should express our deepest gratitude for. We need to be thankful for being the only dispensation in which God has Made it possible for men to become His children.

So as we carry this message of reconciliation to a world that desperately needs it. Telling them that God is not mad at them. But, only wants to deliver them from death to life by this new birth because He loves them. Let’s be thankful ourselves that we have been shown the way.

The way the Psalmist said is because “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” This day is the day you are made a child of God by truting in Jesus and His resurrection. This day God made is the day we come to believe the gospel message Paul has delivered in His epistles.

So as Paul says in Heb.4:1-3, “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.”

The day we enter into God’s rest is the day we trust in Jesus and His resurrection for eternal life. This is the true sabbath. A sabbath that Israel was only given a shadow of when God told them to keep the 7th day sabbath holy.

So be thankful that God has deemed this dispensation to be the one in which He would accomplish His eternal plan to the full. When a man is joined to God by a spirit being created in Him that makes Him God’s child and heir to His kingdom. And that bond can never be broken by any means.

Trust in Jesus now. And His resurrection. And thank Him for the immeasurable gift of life that He bestows on you when you do. Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus. And believe in your heart that He has raised from the dead. And you shall be saved.

Do this and never fear death again. Do this and eternal life will be yours now. And immortality at the resurrection. Do this… and I will see you there or in the air!
