FBI Director Christopher Wray decried online threats made against him and other federal agents in the wake of the agency's raid on former President Donald Trump's Florida estate.

Wray, who was nominated head of the FBI by Trump in 2017, stated that violence against police enforcement is not the solution, describing internet threats as "deplorable and dangerous." "Again, violence against law enforcement is not the answer, regardless of what somebody is furious about or who they are upset with," Wray told The Associated Press following a news conference at the agency's field office in Nebraska, where he addressed the FBI's cybersecurity emphasis.

"Last year, 73 law enforcement officers around the country were killed in the line of duty, meaning they were murdered in the line of duty. It is the largest number since September 11, 2001," he continued, concluding, "any threats made against police enforcement... are despicable and dangerous."
