GOD’S PURPOSE IN JESUS’ BIRTH; THE TRUE CHRIST-mas MESSAGE- Isaiah9:6

We know from Isaiah7:14 that being born of a virgin was to be a sign from God for Israel. We also know from Isaiah 9:6 that He would be called Immanuel which means God with us.

We also know from what Jesus said in Mt.15:24 that His coming to live as a man was solely for the lost sheep of the house of Israel. So that He could fulfill the law so that it would pass away. Giving power to a New Covenant through His death and resurrection.

The birth of Jesus was both miraculous and it was also absolutely necessary for all of mankind’s deliverance from what he was when God made him, to what he needed to be to inherit the heavenly kingdom God intended him to live in from the beginning.

Yes indeed, man was made exactly as God wanted him to be at the beginning. God saying of His creation it was “very good”. But, man was not complete as far as knowing and relating to God on a spiritual level is concerned. There was a spiritual part that would come later because of Jesus’ death and resurrection that would make it possible for man to choose of his own God given free will to become a child of God and heir to His kingdom, rather than just a part of His creation.

Read Genesis.2:7 and 7:15,22 and see that what I am telling you is true. Then read 1Cor.15:45-48 for further confirmation of this. God’s plan in sending Jesus was so that seeing Him we have seen the Father. And that seeing Him and believing Him we would have eternal life by the spirit God creates in us when we are born again.

And we must be careful not to be deceived by the Augustinian teaching of original sin and sin nature that says Jesus’ birth was part of an elaborate plan to make bad people good, and that when Jesus grew up He could be punished in our place by receiving the punishment God’s “holiness” said we deserved. And Biblically speaking His birth certainly had nothing to do with satisfying God’s wrath by the bloody and torturous death of the innocent.

All this is known as the substitutional vicarious death of Christ. Or penal substitutional death of Christ. A teaching that has plagued the church since the days of Augustine. One which sadly is taught to some degree in virtually every seminary around the world.

The real reason Jesus came, the real reason He was born into this world as a man, was so that men who were made only natural in the beginning could be made spiritual by a new birth in our dispensation. He came so that it would be made possible that a “new creature” would come into existence. One that was different from any and all who went before him.

One that would have a completely unique attribute resulting from the Creator who made him natural at the beginning, now creating in him a spirit. A spirit that could relate to the God who made him just as everyone born into the world can naturally relate to his natural parents.

This is the reason Jesus told Israel “God is a Spirit. And those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” And why in John3:5-7 He told Nicodemus “5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.”

So when you consider the virgin birth of the savior and all the miracles surrounding this event. Don’t allow the gnostic nonsense so many preach concerning Jesus’ nature, and the pagan beliefs that say God sent Jesus to be punished in our place to appease His wrath, to get in the way of the true message God wants you to know.

That message is “16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” John3:16,17. That message is “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2Cor.5:17

God sent Jesus to save us. And the question we must find the answer to so that we are not deceived by the gnostic heresies that found their way into the church through the teachings of Augustine. But, so that we know the truth that sets men free is, save us from what? And save us to what? And in answering this question we will determine whether we will know the God who sent Jesus that He said will result in eternal life. Or if we will find ourselves on the wide road that leads to destruction.

From Genesis to Revelation and from every detail the prophets, Jesus, and the apostles gave us in the word of God. God has made it known that the reason Jesus came was to deliver mankind from being only natural the way Adam was made when God made him. To becoming a spiritual being by having a spirit created in us by our Creator that Jesus said happens when we are born again. Saying that “that which is born of the flesh is flesh. and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

So that by this spirit God creates in us when we are born again through faith in Jesus we become sons and daughters of God. Sons and daughters who have eternal life now. And will have immortality at the resurrection when we receive our new bodies that are the temple made without hands Paul spoke of in 2 Cor.5:1-4.

This is the true message we should take from the Bible and from the observance of Christ-mas. The true message that speaks of the birth of our savior that Isaiah told Israel would happen when he wrote,

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

And if you don’t yet have this spirit created in you that God provides to everyone who believes in Jesus. And would like to have eternal life now and a new body at the resurrection. Paul says to confess the Lord Jesus. And believe He has raised from the dead. And you will be saved just as Jesus said He was sent into the world to do.

If you will do this then you will have a spirit created in you that makes you God’s child. And not just His creation. If you will do this then you will receive a new immortal body at the resurrection. If you will do this then you will be heir to God’s kingdom. If you will do this… then I will see you there or in the air!
