ARE YOU A CHILD OF GOD? OR STILL ONLY A CHILD OF ADAM?

Are you a living soul? Or are you a living spirit? Do you still have only old wine in the old wine bottle? Or new wine?

Are all men children of God from conception? Was Adam a child of God when he was made? Is it a spiritual birth that brings a man into being? Was it even a spiritual birth that brought Adam into being? Have you ever thought to even ask these questions?

Of course, the answer to these questions is a resounding NO!! Because Adam was natural, only flesh and blood, when he was made. As are all men born since Adam was made.

This is why Adam could not have been a child of God when God made him. Because his was not a spiritual birth when he was made. Just as it is not a spiritual birth that any other man has when he is born.

So while it is true that Adam was a creation of God just as we all are. Made from the elements and having the breath of life in our nostrils just as Adam. Neither he nor anyone of his progeny can be a child of God.

Because he and the rest of mankind are made from the elements, ie the "dust of the ground". Having the breath of life breathed into their nostrils. Adam and all men who are his progeny are mortal, made from the same "dust of the ground" from conception that Adam was when he was made.

Only Jesus was a child of God. This is what God said when He called Jesus His "only begotten Son". Because not only did He have a body made from the "dust of the ground", a body that Heb.2:14 says was the same flesh and blood all men have. 1Cor.15:45,46 tells us that He was also a "living spirit". This is why Jesus is called the "only begotten Son of God" in John 3:16.

Among men Paul says only Jesus was made a living Spirit. All others are just as Adam was when he was made. Only flesh and blood. Natural, with no spiritual part in them. It is because of this that no man except Jesus is a child of God from his mother's womb.

Now since God is a Spirit, that which is not spiritual, but only natural flesh and blood, can not be His children. Only what is born of the Spirit of God are His children. This is why Jesus told Nicodemus that what is born of the flesh is flesh. They are Adam's children that are just as Adam was when he was made. "Not spiritual but natural".

And what is born of the Spirit is spirit. These are God's children. These are those who will "inherit the kingdom of God".

This is why Jesus said we must be born again. Because only through the new birth is any man made a child of God. A "new creation" for which "old things are passed away. Behold all things are become new".

It is so important that we understand this. Because if we believe the Augustinian cult teachings about Adam and man's beginnings that says Adam was a spiritual being when he was made. We will believe that it is because of naughty behavior that man needs Jesus. And we will never understand the true purpose of the atonement. And we will always fall into a salvation by works system like the doctrine of original sin as taught by the false teacher Augustine.

This is why Peter said that it was God's intention that Jesus would come from before He made the world. By this Peter teaches that Adam's need for Jesus was from the time he was made. Not just after he ate the fruit.

And that this was because he was only natural flesh and blood. And that itr is because flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God. Only a spiritual man can inherit the kingdom of God. Because God is a Spirit so that to be His children we must all be made spiritual by the new birth.

So anyone who tells you that Adam was a child of God when God made him, and that the atonement was to fix his change in nature after he ate the fruit, has believed a lie. And is now lying to you. They do not know what they are talking about. And they certainly do not know what God says about this in His word.

Let me repeat that. Anyone who tells you that Adam was a child of God when God made him is lying to you. We need to understand this because it is key to our knowing who God is. Why Jesus came. And what the atonement is really for.

That it was to deliver us from the mortality Adam was made with to the immortality that Jesus bought for us by His death and resurrection.

And from temporal to eternal life. This is why Jesus said "I have come that you might have life and that life abundantly". Abundant life is spiritual life. It is abundant because spiritual life makes us children of God and eternal heirs to His eternal kingdom.

Many have been taught to believe that before Adam ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he was an immortal child of God. And that afterwards he became something different. A sinner by nature. And that this is why all men need to be born again. Because they are the same sinners by nature now that Adam became after he ate the fruit. And that this is why Jesus had to come.

But, in the parable of the new and old wine bottles Jesus said the reason for the atonement was so that the mortality Adam had when God made him could put on immortality. That this happens when the new wine- spirit- they received at the new birth causes the old wine bottles- natural bodies- to burst and they receive new wine bottles- resurrected bodies- at the resurrection. And Paul says that the corruption of death mortal men are subject to must put on that which is incorruptible.

Jesus tells us how we can also become children of God. He says, "what is born of the flesh is flesh. And what is born of the Spirit is spirit". This is the only way for people to become children of God. By being born from above to receive a spirit in them that as flesh and blood they never had before.

Peter said it this way, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." 1 Peter 1:23-25

Paul gave us this to show how we can become children of God. He wrote, "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.

As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption." 1Cor.15:45-50

Each of these explains the process by which man becomes a child of God.

And how the flesh he is born into this world with can not inherit the kingdom of God. Why? Because it is flesh. It is natural and only relates to what is temporal. And God's family are spiritual beings. Who relate to that which is eternal.

When Adam was made he was made mortal with capabilities to relate to the temporal world around him. Provided with the tree of life that as he ate from it kept him from dying.

He was not a child of God because all of God's children are immortal. He was a creation of God that was made for fellowship that would only be realized after he became more like God having the knowledge of good and evil. Because with this knowledge he would realize his mortality. And this is what would cause him to seek God for deliverance from it as he never did while in the garden because he did not know he was mortal.

Adam did not know anything about death or life. Hate or love. Fellowship or rejection. Because all of these have to do with the knowledge of good and evil which he did not possess until after he ate the fruit.

Adam's body was a product of God's created genetics from the elements, ie "dust of the ground". Jesus' body was a product of Mary's genetics + God's created genetics, ie "dust of the ground". Both were fully human and fully mortal. Subject to death's corruption.

But, what Adam was missing when he was made that Jesus had when He was made was the spirit in Him that made it possible for Jesus to fellowship with the Father. This is what Paul told us in 1Cor.15:45-50 was the difference between Adam when he was made. And Jesus when He was born. The spiritual part that only comes when men are born again.

This is the purpose of the atonement. That God loved the world so much that He joined with mankind in our mortality. So that we could join with Him in His immortality by faith in Jesus and His resurrection.

So if you want to be a child of God and heir to His kingdom then you need to be born again. Born of God's Spirit. Then you will be made a spiritual being having eternal life. And will receive a new immortal body in the resurrection.

This happens today when you confess Jesus is Lord. And believe He has raised from the dead for the purpose of conquering death for all men. He gave men free will so they can participate with Him in this process. By freely choosing to confess Jesus is Lord. And believing He has raised from the dead. When you make this free will choice God gives you the gift of faith, ie the word of God which abides forever. And from this gift of faith you receive eternal life and eventually immortality.

If you will choose to believe in Jesus then you will become a child of God. When you become a child of God then you will be heir to His kingdom. Do this.... and I will see you there or in the air!
