By Edward  OHara, It's because that's exactly what we do. Because since they are deceived every bit as much as any un-churched person by the original sin and sin nature doctrine, they too are as much in need of deliverance as any other unbeliever.

A friend of mine that has been witnessing to a church-ed person online sent me a reply he got after posting one of my videos. Not surprising, the person who responded was adamant that my friend has gotten himself into some kind of cult. Because like so many others this church person has been deceived by the original sin and sin nature doctrine.

This was one of his replies to my friend. He said, "I disagree. But beyond that, you've stated that anyone who disagrees with the views of your teachers regarding Adam having no sin nature, humans not having imputed sin, etc., does not believe the gospel, is an antichrist, and does not have eternal life. You are adding conditions to the gospel of salvation, indulging in legalism, and thereby promoting a false gospel. I urge you to reconsider, and take a hard second look at whoever is feeding you such false teaching. Gal. 1:6-7."

Like I said, this is not an anomalous reply where the teaching of the truth from the word of God is concerned. Because church people like this person have only heard, and therefore can only read into the Genesis account, his understanding as it comes through the lens of the pagan gnostic doctrine of original sin and sin nature that he prescribes to for truth.

This happened to me at a church in my area that I was invited to and heard the ‘pastor’ speak on sin nature for 1/2 an hour. Saying repeatedly that all men have inherited a sin nature from Adam.

But, after his ‘sermon’ when I asked him where the Bible says Adam had a sin nature, and he responded that it was found in Gen.3, I opened my Bible and began reading. Asking him to stop me when I got to the part where it said Adam had a sin nature. As I read he began to get so angry that someone would question his authority that instead of admitting he was wrong. He told me to leave and that I was never welcome in HIS church again.

Sadly, this is not an uncommon response once the church-ed person is shown that what they believe about original sin and sin nature are nowhere found in the Genesis account. And it shows just how strong is this stronghold satan has on them.

However, if they would use the critical thinking skills Paul commended the Bereans for in Acts17:11 , they could easily see through this abominable lie.

As did Charles Finney when he concluded, "This doctrine is a stumbling block both to the church and the world, infinitely dishonorable to God, and an abomination alike to God and the human intellect, and should be banished from every pulpit, and from every formula of doctrine, and from the world. It is a relic of heathen philosophy, and was foisted in among the doctrines of Christianity by Augustine, as everyone may know who will take the trouble to examine for himself."

So this poses a problem for them when faced with the truth that we find when studying about Adam's sin and it's affect it had on himself and the rest of mankind. Because there is no mention of a change in Adam's nature here other than his becoming more like God knowing good and evil. So the change he refers to in his reply is only found in the teachings of the pagan gnostic Augustine.

And since the whole point of witnessing the gospel to someone is to give them enough truth from God's word to bring them to a point of decision. A decision for or against the truth. A decision to either repent of their beliefs and turn to the truth taught in God's word, the Bible, or not. We must be careful to give church people this truth as accurately as possible.

So when someone responds as this person did it is first a good sign that they likely have heard you. Which is a good thing. And second that because they have heard you, while they at first may strike back as it appears this man has done, it only shows that the truth is something so completely new to them they don't know what else to do with it.

But, if they have a real desire to know the truth, if that is their primary reason for seeking God, then they will consider what you have said in the light of what the Bible says. They will examine themselves to see whether they be in the faith.

And they will discover for themselves as I have that the Bible does not teach the doctrine of original sin and sin nature. But, instead teaches something that is so completely foreign to it that it will become clear that it is those who teach it that are in some kind of cult. Their heart will either be turned to God. Or they will turn from Him. Depending on the humbleness of their heart. Their willingness to be taught.

However, if being right is more important to them than the truth, they will seek shelter in the church where vast numbers of people that have been deceived just as they have congregate. Sitting in an echo chamber that confirms and re-confirms what they already believe.

And by doing so they make their heart harder and harder, and their desire to know the truth less and less, with each passing day.

But, this is not what we hope for when we witness to church people. Our hope is that they come to a saving faith. Coming to know the truth in all of the glorious liberty that is in Christ. Truth that can not be shaken as happens to most church people when they hear truth because the truth is 180 degrees the opposite from what they have been taught to believe.

I am not saying that a person is not saved if they have believed the doctrine of original sin. I can not know whether at some point in the beginning before they came to believe that doctrine they may have really believed in Jesus. Only God knows that for sure.

But, what I am saying is that the doctrine the churches teach is false. So that if they are saved it is in spite of their doctrine. Not because of it. Which to me would be a very scary place in which to be.

How this could be possible is beyond my understanding. But, I do know the grace of God. And as the song says, it is "amazing grace"! Because God is not trying to find ways to send people to hell. To the contrary, He has made salvation very simple because His desire is that all men would be saved.

So you do not have to be a theologian to be saved. But, what you do know about salvation, even if it is only that God loves you, must be found in God's word to be truth. And if it can not be found in God's word it must be discarded.

So the church person should ask themselves this question. Are mormons saved? What about JW's? If not then why not? They too profess that they believe in Jesus. That He died for their sins and rose again the third day. So why aren't they saved if that's all it takes to be saved?

It's because they have believed in a false Jesus. Because He differs from the historical Jesus we read about in the Bible in very significant ways. Even though they say they too believe in a Jesus that died for our sins and rose the third day. Not the least of which is that their Jesus is not the Almighty God of Isaiah9:6 who made all that has been made.

So believing in someone you call Jesus can not be the all in all for salvation. Because if the Jesus you believe in began life as a created being as mormons and JW's believe then he is a different Jesus than the one the Bible teaches. A different christ. One of the many christs that Jesus said in Mt.24 would come to deceive men so they would not be saved.

So what is the truth am I referring to that we must know to be saved? It is the truth that Jesus came bodily as fully human to die a man's death so that He could conquer it by His resurrection. The truth that it was because man was created mortal that he needs a savior. And has nothing to do with naughty or nice behavior.

Because when we make mortality the issue, instead of good or bad works, we do not fall into the trap of works salvation. We won't even begin to go down the road that takes us to the gnostic beliefs that John wrote 3 letters to expose it as the lie that it is.

Saying in 1John4:1-3 that the spirit that brought us original sin and sin nature doctrine is the spirit of antichrist. Because it teaches that Jesus did not come in the same flesh all men have.

But, when we focus on Jesus we see Him dying a man's death. Made possible only by Him coming as a man with the same flesh all men have as Heb.2:14 says He did. His death speaks of His mortality. A mortality that ends with physical death if like all other men He does not find the way to become immortal.

But, being God in the flesh He always had the power of immortality. Which, having laid it aside to live as all men do, He took up again after joining with mankind in our death. And in His resurrection made mortality possible for all who will trust in Him as Lord and believe in His resurrection.

A resurrection that Jesus spoke of that is for all men. But, for those who never come to believe in Him will be a resurrection unto damnation because they were never made spiritual by the spirit birth. And it's the spirit that gives life to the new body. Without this life these will know only the pain and suffering of an eternity without God's presence.

We need to know the truth that when God made Adam He did not make him a spiritual being, but only a natural being. A being who Jesus said needs another birth. A spiritual birth that makes him a child of God and heir to His kingdom. The truth that as an heir of God he will receive an immortal body after he puts off this mortal body.

Truth that Paul bears witness to when he says that if we will confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. And believe in our heart that God is raised from the dead. We are saved. With no need for being sorry for bad behavior. Not that we should be proud of or think nothing of bad behavior either. But, only that we trust in Jesus that shows us the way His love would have us behave toward others going forward. The fulfillment of the law that is do unto others as Jesus said.

I have added no conditions to the gospel of salvation. We are saved by grace through faith not of works. Period. I've only said that by believing in a Jesus that did not come in the same flesh all men have they have believed in a different Jesus. Just as mormons and JW's have.

Jesus Himself warned that there would be false christs that if followed would disqualify one from salvation in Mt.24. And in 1John4:1-3 John taught that to believe in a Jesus that did not come in the same flesh all men have is a belief in the doctrine of antichrist.

Also because believing that doctrine they have believed in a vicarious substitutionary atonement that is a different atonement from that which is taught in the Bible.

One that is akin to moloch worship. Because it was that false god who required the bloody and torturous death of an innocent in place of the guilty to appease his wrath. So believing in vicarious substitutionary atonement is paganism.

The true God did not send Jesus because He required a sacrifice for appeasement of wrath. The sacrifice Jesus made was one of love for His creation(John3:16,17) that was the means to deliver it from mortality to immortality(1Cor.15:53-57) by the conquering of death(Heb.2:14,15). And to bring an end to the Old Covenant for Israel(Col.2:14) through His death(Heb.9:15-17). Through which death He also exposed the works of satan to the whole world(Col.2:15). And gave power to a New Covenant by His resurrection

through the power of an endless life for all mankind(Heb.7:16).

In short what I am saying is, that everything they have believed about Jesus, the atonement, and God Himself, is a lie. And because it is a lie, all that is built upon it is a lie. Making it very unlikely that they know Him.

So this is why we witness to church people.

So that just like their unbelieving counterparts they too can come to a saving faith in the Jesus that is the only way, truth, and life. Helping them to turn from their false doctrines and idols to know and love the true and living God for eternal life.

The reason it seems harder to get church people to hear the truth is because like their cult counterparts they think they already have the truth. But, if we will take the time as Paul said in 2Tim.2:25,26, in meekness, though it may not seem like meekness to them because it sometimes hurts to hear that everything you have believed is a lie, we "instruct those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will."

Sadly, church people are of the world because like the world they believe in works righteousness instead of the righteousness unto eternal life that is by "the faith of Christ". They have aligned their thinking with the pagan world by reasoning that God is angry at them because they are bad. And that to them this is why Jesus had to die. To pay the penalty for their being bad so they could be made acceptable to God by Jesus' works righteousness being imputed to them if they will believe Him for it.

It is because of this that we know that when these church people reject us, they are not really rejecting us. They are rejecting Jesus. Or at least what His word teaches. So that this is why in John15:18,19 Jesus said, "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

By simply reading about the atrocities the Roman Catholic harlot, and the evangelical protestant's mother, committed against believers in Jesus. We can see just how powerful this hate is in those who have believed her foundational doctrine. And though tempered by time still rears it's ugly head as they reject the truth for her lies.

So don't be shy about witnessing to these church people. They need to know Jesus as much as anyone does. And if we love them as Jesus does, witnessing to them about who God is, who Jesus is, and what the atonement was really for, comes easy.

And as we witness to them we also teach ourselves. Keeping ourselves in the truth so that "the wicked one touches us" not as 1John5:18 says. The truth that knowing Jesus is eternal life.

And believing He has raised from the dead is our only way to receive immortality.

Do this and you will be a child of God and heir to His kingdom. Do this and the immortality the Bible speaks of will be yours at the resurrection. Do this... and I will see you there or in the air!
