Revelations from a new book, Peril, by Bob Woodward and Rob Costa, reveal just how deep the spiritual rot in the military goes. In the days after the January 6 protest, General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, promised, in the event of a war, to give aid and comfort to China. According to the Washington Post, after the Capitol protest, Milley sent secret communiques to the head of the People’s Liberation Army, promising that “If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.”
In a decent country such a brazen act of collusion with a foreign power by one of the most prominent leaders of the armed forces would be met with immediate and unrelenting backlash. Instead, this betrayer of the Constitution and the principle of civilian leadership of the military is a liberal darling. At the inauguration, Joe Biden thanked Milley for undermining President Trump in the final weeks of his presidency.
Milley, before reaching out to China, sat down with the service’s top officers and demanded from them what amounted to an oath—none of them would launch a nuclear weapon without his approval. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff went behind the President’s back to secure control over the nation’s most important weapons.
Our generals are losers abroad, and grifters at home. They parrot MSNBC talking points on Twitter and grovel before Fauci. This is bad enough. But Milley’s actions show that America’s top military officers have reached another level of delusion. They fancy themselves a new praetorian guard to protect the nation—as construed by elite editorial boards—from the people’s elected representatives.
The military establishment is gloating now and flexing its muscle. After the election, outgoing Syria envoy Jim Jeffrey admitted that the Pentagon and State Department had consistently lied to Trump about troop levels in Syria. Before he left office, Trump’s order to have troops out of Afghanistan by January 15 was overruled by the establishment. Trump, far from trying to start a war on his way out of office, sought to end one.
White House spokesperson Jen Psaki claims that Milley was following “constitutional orders to prevent unlawful military actions.” According to her, Trump “was implementing an insurrection.” The claim that Trump wished to start a war to distract from the election, upon which Milley based his collusion with the Chinese government, was an utter lie. Nor was Trump implementing an insurrection; the FBI has dispensed with this myth, finding that there was no coordinated plot associated with the Capitol riot.
There will be no hearings, serious journalistic investigations, or outcry from the establishment.
Milley will go unpunished.
He will retire with full honors and full pension.
The Pentagon will never reform itself from the inside.
The entire military-industrial complex (MIC) must be dismantled if we are ever to have again an armed forces consistent with the Founders’ republican virtues.
The AmericanRight must be willing to starve the Pentagon of its lifeblood. The most important asset the people have is their bodies. Americanmothers and fathers need to stop feeding their children into the machine. Heartland American boys and girls have better things to do and better leaders to serve under. The American people must go on strike until the generals once again learn to subordinate themselves to the people.
GOPpoliticians must assist their constituents in this noble task. They must find real courage and demand radical institutional change. This starts with deep and abiding budget cuts for the Pentagon and the rest of the MIC. The Founders’ distrust of permanent standing armies must be restored.
America should once again rely on true citizen soldiers for national defense.
The world has changed. America’s grand strategy must change with it. Our current conventional force cannot defeat insurgencies anyway. The proliferation of nuclear weapons, on the other hand, means that “Great Power conflict” is virtually impossible. There is no need to keep buying weapons systems designed to fight a redux of WWII. Our bases overseas are a relic of the liberal humanitarian world order. Having 20,000 troops in Okinawa didn’t prevent the Chinese Communist Party from using Twitter bots to stir up hysteria over Covid. Our dozen aircraft carriers didn’t stop our politicians from implementing lockdowns and vaccine passports. America’s air bases in Turkey, Germany, and Diego Garcia didn’t keep the Taliban from retaking control of their country.
America was never the world’s policeman. An empire in the name of democracy and freedom was always an idiotic idea.
Widespread gun ownership is a much better guarantor of American liberty than any SEAL team or aircraft carrier. The Militia Act of 1792 is a much better model for national defense than our current setup. The act enrolled every able-bodied male citizen between the ages of 18 and 45 into the militia. It also demanded that each of these men provide themselves with a “good musket or firelock” and “a sufficient bayonet.” Far from trying to take away firearms, the Founders demanded every American male citizen possess one.
Self-sufficiency in arms is the foundation of liberty, national sovereignty, and independence. Tyrannies never arm their citizens; republics always do. Our security as a nation should not depend on over-hyped “super soldiers.” The “silent professionals” with their podcasts, book deals, and TV appearances play, in the grand scheme of things, only a very minor role in protecting the life, liberty, and property of the American people.
The unmitigated corruption in the leadership of the armed forces is a sign of deep cultural rot. The patriotic flag-waving of the post-9/11 response has been used to great harm against the American people. An unwillingness by the political class to criticize and hold accountable those charged with defending the nation has led to our current spiritual crisis. America can’t win overseas, her generals sell out her leaders to foreign powers, and the retired members of this elite class do nothing but gobble up fat checks from the corporations they once purchased from. This is an untenable state of affairs.

Severe Weather Threatens 90 Million People In Midwest And Northeast States
The Storm Prediction Center has warned that severe thunderstorms are forecasted across the Midwest and Northeast on Wednesday.
“Damaging winds, along with some hail threat, are expected with thunderstorms across the upper Midwest later this afternoon and evening. Isolated damaging winds are also possible across parts of the Northeast,” Storm Prediction Center wrote in a 0737 ET statement.
CNN estimates as many as “90 million people across the Midwest and Northeast” could be affected by today’s storms.
Wisconsin; Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Rochester, Minnesota are at risk of intense storms. This could be great news for the corn belt in desperate need of water, but a constant stream of wind could damage crops. Wind damage could snap the corn plant and also dislodge the roots from the ground. There are additional risks for cities like Chicago, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Des Moines, and Omaha.
The severe thunderstorms will shift into the central Plains and lower Midwest on Thursday.
In a separate storm, severe weather risks could be seen in the Northeast. The Storm Prediction Center said New York and New England, including Albany and Springfield, may experience severe weather today. There are also severe weather risks in cities like New York, Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Boston.
“A severe storm cannot be ruled out with the main threat damaging winds,” said the New York National Weather Service office.
Despite the severe weather risks, the good news is that the corn belt will be getting some much-needed rain.
But if winds are strong enough, there is a risk of crop damage.

Update (1500 ET): On Friday, BAMWX’s meteorologists have posted numerous weather models that suggest frigid air is headed for some parts of the US.

Readers may recall that natural gas prices erupted earlier in the week as weather models shifted to a much colder setup for the next two weeks.
Expanding more on what’s to come is BAMWX’s meteorologist Kirk Hinzwho published an in-depth update on Thursday describing how temperatures over the next couple of weeks will be well below average, thus boosting heating degree days, a sign that natgas demand will surge as people turn up their thermostats to stay warm.
“Multiple drivers aligning for big cold to develop over the next few weeks,” BAMWX’s meteorologist Kirk Hinz said.
For week one, Hinz outlines:

Over the next week we expect temperatures vs normal to average 15 to 20
degrees below normal on a widespread scale from Montana to Kansas City, Chicago, near Indianapolis, and all areas in between.
The cold vs normal is also expected to drop all the way down to near Dallas and Houston, and extend as far east as New York City.
The extent of location of the cold vs normal will continue to allow national gas weighted heating demand to run much above normal and continue to rise for week 1 in the coming days.

The data trended widespread colder once again on 12z today, especially the Euro ensemble that trended over 25 GWHDDs colder vs Oz.

With the Polar Vortex looking to remain in a very favorable position for arctic blasts of air, expect additional notable cold behind storm systems into the week 2 period. We think that this continues throughout week 2, especially as the colder air sinks further south related to MJO phase 8.
One risk we will need to watch is what the MJO does after phase 8. If it lingers in phase 8 this more widespread cold pattern for the Central and Eastern US will linger. If we move Into MJO phase 1, the southeast US ridge may try to return late week 2. Regardless, the colder air to the north should persist, but it could allow for HDDs to tick down a bit late week 2.
BAMWX’s PM Energy Check-Up report dated Feb. 4 shows week 2 (between Feb.11-17) temperature forecast could be trending well below normal for much of the US.
Much of the colder air for week 2 could be positioned across the US’ central and eastern parts.
Heating degree days for weeks 1 and 2 show a large surge beginning early next week, which means it will take more energy to heat a residential or commercial structure as temperatures dive.
Natural-gas futures weekly hold above the 200 exponential moving average and have reclaimed the $3 handle on Friday morning.

Clashes With Police Continue In New York, Washington During 5th Night Of Unrest As Arrests Near 10,000
After four straight nights of anarchy and unrest across the US, demonstrations in dozens of cities across the US took on a distinctly more peaceful tone during night No. 5, as several tense situations were successfully de-escalated, while demonstrations and in some cases violent protests sprang up in Europe and around the world.
Tuesday evening was the 7th night of protests (if one counts from the first rallies in Minneapolis) and the fifth night of nationwide unrest, as demonstrations had spread to other cities by Friday.
After closing all of Manhattan below 96th street to cars, NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio called for an end to “coordinated criminal activity” and looting. Fortunately, the protests on Tuesday night were much less violent and chaotic. A clash between protesters and police was avoided on the Manhattan Bridge, where police allowed them to turn around and walk back to Manhattan. Some store owners lined the streets and “cheered on the demonstrators”, CNN reported. We imagine many more stood outside their boarded-up stores with makeshift weapons, ready to take matters into their own hands after the NYPD refused to intervene to stop looters in parts of the city last night

Looting broke out in downtown Brooklyn at Flatbush Avenue and Pacific Street, an area with a lot of big box stores and the Atlantic Terminal mall near the Barclays Center. The department also said there was a shooting in Crown Heights, where a cop shot “somebody with a firearm”.
Though they remained mostly peaceful, thousands of demonstrators steadfastly refused to abide by Mayor de Blasio’s 8pmET curfew, likely because the mayor refused to bring in the national guard and state troopers to assist the NYPD.

In Philadelphia on Tuesday, CNN noted that protests culminated in a nine-minute “moment” of silence, while city officials opted to move a controversial statue of a former mayor that had become a locus for vandalism.

MinnesotaGov. Tim Walz announced Tuesday that the Minnesota Department of Human Rights is launching a sweeping civil rights investigation into the Minneapolis Police Department which will look into practices of systemic racism. In a statement to the press, he said the inquiry will try to determine whether police engaged in “systemic discriminatory practices towards people of color and ensure any such practices are stopped.”
Derek Chauvin, the officer who placed his knee on Floyd’s neck, is expected to make his first appearance in court on charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter on June 8. The nation’s top health agency has already sent some 1,500 epidemiologists, scientists and experts to some of the nation’s COVID-19 hotspots, including NYC and Seattle, the latter where the first U.S. cases of the virus were seen in January and February.
Now, Schuchat said, teams have also been dispatched to Louisiana, Wisconsin, and Colorado, among other places – though she declined to name the cities specifically.
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) noted Tuesday that the rate of increase for coronavirus cases in his state was similar to the rises in Italy and Spain, two of Europe’s hardest-hit countries. There, health systems have nearly collapsed under the weight of cases and now doctors are being forced to make extremely tough decisions about who does – and does not – get treated.

“There are just dozens of places we’re watching,” Schuchat told the news site. “We really need to expect that the whole country’s at risk here, and we have to look across our health care system within each jurisdiction to have them be as strong as possible.”
Meanwhile, President Trump suggested earlier this week he wants the country to “reopen” by Easter Sunday, which is April 12. But that runs afoul of the advice he is getting from most of his top medical advisors, The Hill notes, who are warning him that doing so will expose far more Americans to new infections and thus dramatically raise the death toll.
Schuchat said ending social distancing practices, for example, would be disastrous.
More than 100,000 people now have the coronavirus in the U.S., according to the latest data compiled by John Hopkins University on Friday. The cases – which mainly come from continued upswings in New York, as well as new hotspots across the country – is the latest in a week that saw numbers rise by 84 percent from 16,000 last week.
New York, in particular, remains to be the hardest-hit region with over 44,879 cases. But other states – including Michigan, Illinois, California, and Louisiana – are preparing for a spike in new cases as increased testing could uncover more infections. In an interview, Surgeon General Jerome Adams warned that Detroit, Chicago, and New Orleans are expected to be flooded with new cases next week.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, on the other hand, has expressed concern over the rapid upswing in cases in the city. According to Garcetti, if this trend continues, Los Angeles could soon be facing conditions like that of New York City – the epicenter of the disease in the U.S. – in five days.
“We will have doctors making excruciating decisions,” he added. “We will be trying to figure out what we do with that surge, how to get ventilators, where to find beds.”
To help the state in its battle against the coronavirus, the USNS Mercy hospital ship docked on Friday morning at the Port of Los Angeles. The floating hospital will treat non-COVID-19 cases, opening up coastal hospital beds to accommodate the surge. In addition, the city has also prepared the Los Angeles Convention to serve as a location for patients.
Despite being in the middle of a wartime economy, some businesses are slowly adapting. In Los Angeles, recreational vehicle companies have shifted their markets amid the pandemic to serve medical personnel, the government and people looking to get away from urban hotspots.
In San Francisco, doctors have yet to see the overcrowding of hospitals that have gripped other parts of the country. As of Friday, the city has only 279 confirmed cases. To prepare for a potential surge of cases, many hospitals in the city have scaled-down surgeries to only those that are essential and reduced patient encounters, with most now taking place online. Popular beaches, open fields and even parking lots were shut down, however, as many people did not comply with the city’s call for social distancing.
“We know what happened last weekend,” said Mayor London Breed. “Sadly, we saw a number of areas in our city that were just jam-packed, and we also saw people who were playing things like volleyball and basketball and other sports.”

“As the president fiddles, people are dying,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday morning.
Speaking to host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Pelosi said President Donald Trump has not taken the coronavirus crisis seriously enough from day one – and still hasn’t done enough.
“The president, his denial at the beginning, was deadly,” she said, saying the federal government is still lagging when it comes to getting testing kits and medical equipment to where they are needed.
Pelosi cited the need for “testing, testing, testing” as the key step going forward.
“This is such a tragedy. We don’t even know the magnitude of it because we don’t have adequate testing,” she said.
Pelosi also attacked Trump for issuing a signing statement that would limit oversight over a $2 trillion relief package approved last week. Trump’s signing statement rejected some of the congressional oversight called for in the bipartisan legislation.
“We don’t accept that. We don’t accept that. We will have our oversight,” Pelosi said, adding: “It’s just the same, business as usual for the president.”

New York plunged into chaos as front-liners catch coronavirus
On Friday, health authorities in New York reported 134 coronavirus-related deaths – the state’s highest since the coronavirus outbreak began in March. This brings New York’s total deaths to 519 – roughly a third of the nation’s total. In a statement, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the state remains the hardest-hit region in the country, and that caseloads are still expected to rise.
“That is going to continue to go up, and that is the worst news that I can tell the people of the state of New York. New York is still the most affected state both in terms of a number of cases and in terms of deaths,” said Cuomo, speaking at the Javits Center, which has since been converted into a medical bivouac.
In addition, over 500 members of the New York Police Department tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, including 442 uniformed officers and 70 civilian members. But the Daily Mailreports that over 3,000 policemen are suffering from “flu-like” symptoms, which could indicate a higher number of people who carry the virus. This will undoubtedly test the NYPD as it continues to grapple with more sick calls and an increasing death rate. In the report, around 3,000 police officers of the 4,111 who called in sick have reported congestion, fever, coughing, a runny nose, and fatigue – symptoms that can be associated with COVID-19.

An Asian tick species capable of transmitting deadly diseases to humans is exploding in population and has already spread to eight states in just a year after its first appearance in the US, warns the Centers for Disease Control.
The Asian long-horned tick was only seen in laboratories and in quarantine in the US until “thousands of them” turned up on a pet sheep in New Jersey last year. Because females can generate progeny without mating -up to 2,000 eggs at a time- a single Asian long-horned tick can quickly turn into an infestation
The ticks have already been found twice on humans this year, as well as on six domestic species and six species of wildlife. While none of the known hosts are believed to have been infected by dangerous pathogens as a result, the CDCadmits that new lab tests may be needed to detect all the diseases the species is capable of spreading. Asian long-horned ticks are notorious as a vector for dangerous diseases in their native Asia, including Japanese spotted fever and one virus that causes a hemorrhagic fever that kills 30 percent of its victims.
“The full public health and agricultural impact of this tick discovery and spread is unknown,” warned the CDC’s Ben Beard, deputy director of the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases. Tick-borne diseases are already underreported, and it is unknown how long this species has been in the country before it was spotted on the sheep – or how it got here.
The CDC hopes to stop the invasion from getting out of control with a “broad range of interventions,” and states have already begun submitting specimens for testing to see if they are members of the new species. This is the first time an invasive species of tick has breached quarantine to enter the US in nearly 80 years – before 2017, Asian long-horned ticks were successfully intercepted at ports of entry at least 15 times, hitching rides on imported animals and materials.
Tick-borne illness has increased threefold since 2004, according to another CDC report released earlier this year, and the agency is networking with agricultural and veterinary scientists as well as federal, state, and local experts in an effort to contain the menace. CDC officials plan to meet next week with representatives of other federal agencies to attempt to develop a national strategy to fight these illnesses.

The report did not look at parasites or viruses, such as HIV, however, only assessing risks from bacteria and fungi.

The People Responsible For The World’s Food Supply Are Starting To Get Sick
Sanderson Farms, a large poultry manufacturer and Smithfield Foods, the world’s largest pork producer, have both reported their first couple of positive cases of coronavirus.
This raises the obvious question: what happens when people critical to the world’s food supply start to fall ill?
As of now, there has been no such disruption – but it is beginning to morph into a massive threat, Bloomberg notes, with workers in close quarters preparing and processing food globally. Aside from the obvious threat of food not making it to consumers, things like fruits may also wind up rotting in fields if there aren’t enough workers to pick and cultivate them.
Al Stehly, who operates a farm-management business in California’s North San Diego County said: “If we can’t flatten the curve, then that is going to affect farmers and farm laborers — and then we have to make choices about which crops we harvest and which ones we don’t. We hope no one gets sick. But I would expect some of us are going to get the virus.”
And to clarify, it’s not the fooditself that causes the threat of the virus. It’s the supply chain disruption that the virus can cause with workers.
Sanderson was lucky in the sense that their one worker only worked at a small table by themselves. But other infections in the industry, where workers are closer together, could wreak more havoc. At some beef plants, workers are “elbow to elbow” and despite the employees wearing protective gear, there still remains a risk of contagion.
Dave MacLennan, chief executive officer of Cargill Inc., the world’s largest agricultural commodities trader said: “One of our beef plants feeds 22 million people per day, so it’s vital that these plants stay open.”
Thomas Hesse, president of United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 401 said: “There’s an underlying tension, there’s fear and there’s anxiety.”
And so, as grocery shelves go empty around the globe, food processing companies have stepped up their sanitary procedures, including more hand washing, spraying down plants and wiping down doorknobs. Shifts are becoming more staggered and lunch breaks are now taken alone.
Steve Cahillane, CEO of Kellogg Co., has suggested his company will bring in additional workers, if needed, as part of a “mitigation plan”.
Mary Coppola of the United Fresh Produce Association said: “We’re going to see some creative solutions where folks that are being laid off are going to be able to find new opportunities that continue to support the essential critical infrastructure.”
But luring people into the food processing industry may not be as easy as it sounds, especially as the government is mailing people checks specifically to prevent them from going to work. Wages in the industry are generally low and the labor is described as “back-breaking”.
While some major producers have been issuing bonuses or increased pay to their workers to let them know they are appreciated, Vermont dairy farmers have implemented other unusual backup plans. In a call through social media, they simply asked for people to come milkcows if farmers start to get sick. They signed up 80 volunteers as standbys.
Kim Mercer of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont said: “It started when we got a couple of calls from dairy farmerswho were super worried they might get sick and wouldn’t be able to milk their cows, and that would be it — they’d lose their farms. We now have people everywhere all across the state who are ready to go.”

The cases of sexually transmitted diseases in the US have reached “the highest number ever,” as chlamydia, syphilis, and gonorrhea skyrocketed in 2016, says the new report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

On Tuesday, the CDC released its annual Sexually Transmitted Disease Surveillance Report, which warned that infertility, stillbirth in infants, life-threatening ectopic pregnancy and increased risk for HIV transmission can emerge in people who leave their STDs untreated.
Most of the new cases involved chlamydia, with a total of 1.6 million cases in the US last year. This bacterial infection affects both men and women.
Gonorrhea infections reached 470,000, with a 22 percent increase among men. The CDC attributed the increase to men who have sex with other men. The trend was described as “particularly alarming” because of a growing threat that the infection could become resistant to the last recommended antibiotic treatment.
There were 28,000 more cases of syphilis in the US, a nearly 18 percent increase from 2015. Most of these infections occurred among men who have sex with other men. However, women also saw a 36 percent jump in syphilis cases.
The report also showed 600 cases of syphilis, or a 28 percent increase, among newborn babies. The disease affecting newborns is known as congenital syphilis. The disease led to “more than 40 deaths and severe health complications among newborns,” according to the CDC.
“Every baby born with syphilis represents a tragic systems failure,” said Gail Bolan, director of CDC’s Division of STD Prevention, according to AFP. “All it takes is a simple STD test and antibiotic treatment to prevent this enormous heartache and help assure a healthy start for the next generation of Americans.”
“Increases in STDs are a clear warning of a growing threat,” said Jonathan Mermin, director of the CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention. “STDs are a persistent enemy, growing in number, and outpacing our ability to respond.”
The 2015 CDC report also showed concerns over a shocking rise in sexually transmitted infections. “We have reached a decisive moment for the nation,” the agency’s representatives said.
All three infections can still be cured with antibiotics, but there are growing concerns that resistant strains may appear at any point. Source
12% Of U.S. Corn Farmers Didn’t Get Their Crops Planted, 48% Expect “Below-Average Yields This Harvest”
Crops all over America are failing, and the true extent of this crisis is starting to become clearer. Months of endless rain and nightmarish flooding prevented many farmers in the middle of the country from getting their crops planted on time, and millions of acres didn’t get planted at all. And if all that wasn’t enough, this month record high temperatures have been absolutely brutal for vulnerable young crops across the Midwest. We shall see how the rest of the summer goes, but at this point, it appears that yields are going to be way, way below expectations, and that has very serious implications for all of us.
Forty-eight percent of U.S. farmers say they expect their corn crop will deliver below-average yields this harvest, according to a Farm Journal Pulse survey conducted on Tuesday.
Of the 1,082 farmerswho responded to the survey, 12% say they didn’t get their crop planted. Only 10% of farmers surveyed say their crop is above average this year.
In other words, corn farmers are telling us that they aren’t going to grow very much corn this year.
And the latest USDA crop progress report confirms that. In particular, the numbers coming from the Upper Midwest are absolutely disastrous…
Minnesota: 47% of soybeans had bloomed by July 21, compared with the five-year average of 70%; 60% was in good or excellent condition, the rest fair to very poor.
North Dakota: 49% of soybeans had bloomed by July 21, compared with the five-year average of 70%; 66% was in good or excellent shape, the rest fair to very poor.
South Dakota: 45% of beans had bloomed by July 21, compared with the five-year average of 65%; 47% was rated good or excellent, the rest fair to very poor.
Nationally, 40 percent of soybeans had bloomed as of July 21, but on July 21 last year, that number was sitting at 76 percent. That is just over half.
And just because crops are on the schedule does not mean that they are in good condition.

More than 20 million U.S. corn and soybean acres remain in poor to very poor condition. Illinois leads with 4.2 million acres in poor or unfavorable condition. The news isn’t much better in Iowa where 2 million acres are also listed under similar conditions.
For U.S. farmers, weather conditions at the end of the growing season are going to be critical. Many are hoping that warm weather will last as long as possible in order to allow their crops time to catch up and come to maturity.
But if an early hard frost comes along, that is going to be absolutely devastating.
In any event, it has become crystal clear that production is going to be way, way down this year. Of course, we are all going to want the same amount of food to eat next year, and so that is going to put an enormous amount of stress on the system.
Any college course in economics will teach you that when demand remains the same and supply goes down, prices go up. In the short-term, we should expect to see food prices steadily rise, and that trend should accelerate as this crisis intensifies. I would very much encourage you to get prepared while you still can.
Globally, we are in an even more precarious situation. More than 7.5 billion people currently live on our planet, and we really struggle to feed them all even during the best years.
I suspect that those at the bottom of the economicfood chain will be hit the hardest. As food supplies get tighter, the wealthier countries will have the resources to secure what they need, and that will leave a whole lot of others to fend for themselves.

While government estimates are more conservative, the recent plunge in pig herds across the country could be around 50% to 55% by late 4Q19, Rabobank told Reuters.
“Next year, especially in the first half, production will go down further,” Pan Chenjun, senior analyst at the bank, told Reuters last Friday.
The supply of the country’s favorite meat has collapsed by 40% to 50% this year, depending on what statistics you read. This has already devastated rural communities and pushed up food prices to crisis levels.
“Something like 50% of sows are dead,” Edgar Wayne Johnson, a veterinarian who has spent 14 years in China, told Reuters in June.
As the chart below shows, the Pork Index Guangdong Daily priced in dollars per kilogram has soared to record highs in Oct., adding pressure on Beijing to contain food-price inflation during the trade war with the US.
The cause for the price surge is well-known: African swine fever, which has been raging across China, and Asia, has decimated pork supplies.
Pork prices are likely to remain elevated for some time, said Betty Wang, a senior economist at ANZ. She said farmers had culled so many pigs that it would take a while for supplies to build up again. “If people feel that foodinflation is going up, it may spur policy actions,” she added, although it wasn’t clear just how Beijing can find a quick and easy substitute to domestic farms.

Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, ‘A quart of wheat for a day’s wages, and three quarts of barley for a day’s wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!'” The third horseman of the Apocalypse refers to a great famine that will take place, likely as a result of the wars from the second horseman.
The fourth horseman is mentioned in Revelation 6:8, “I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine, and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.” The fourth horseman of the Apocalypse is symbolic of death and devastation. It seems to be a combination of the previous horsemen. The fourth horseman of the Apocalypse will bring further warfare and terrible famines along with awful plagues and diseases. What is most amazing, or perhaps terrifying, is that the four horsemen of the Apocalypse are just “precursors” of even worse judgments that come later in the tribulation (Revelation chapters 8-9 and 16).
According to Biblical scholars, there are four “horsemen” that represent four of the Seals prophesied in the Book of Revelation, which describes the complete destruction of human civilization as God’s wrath is unleashed upon those who serve Satan. You think you’ve got rights? Think again.
All of those freedoms we cherish-the ones enshrined in the Constitution, the ones that affirm our right to free speech and assembly, due process, privacy, bodily integrity, the right to not have police seize our property without a warrant, or search and detain us without probable cause-amount to nothing when the government and its agents are allowed to disregard those prohibitions on government overreach at will.
This is the grim reality of life in the American police state.
In fact, in the face of the government’s ongoing power grabs, our so-called rights have been reduced to mere technicalities, privileges that can be granted and taken away, all with the general blessing of the courts.
This is what one would call a slow death by a thousand cuts, only it’s the Constitution being inexorably bled to death by the very institution (the judicial branch of government) that is supposed to be protecting it (and us) from government abuse.
Court pundits, fixated on a handful of politically charged cases before the U.S. Supreme Court this term dealing with abortion, gun rights and COVID-19 mandates, have failed to recognize that the Supreme Court-and the courts in general-sold us out long ago.
With each passing day, it becomes increasingly clear that Americans can no longer rely on the courts to “take the government off the backs of the people,” in the words of Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas. When presented with an opportunity to loosen the government’s noose that keeps getting cinched tighter and tighter around the necks of the American people, what does our current Supreme Court usually do?
It ducks. Prevaricates. Remains silent. Speaks to the narrowest possible concern.
More often than not, it gives the government and its corporate sponsors the benefit of the doubt, seemingly more concerned with establishing order and protecting government interests than with upholding the rights of the people enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.
Rarely do the concerns of the populace prevail.
Every so often, the justices toss a bone to those who fear they have abdicated their allegiance to the Constitution. Too often, however, the Supreme Court tends to march in lockstep with the police state.
As a result, the police and other government agents have been generally empowered to probe, poke, pinch, taser, search, seize, strip and generally manhandle anyone they see fit in almost any circumstance.
In recent years, for example, the Court has ruled that police officers can use lethal force in car chases without fear of lawsuits; police officers can stop cars based only on “anonymous” tips; Secret Service agents are not accountable for their actions, as long as they’re done in the name of “security”; citizens only have a right to remain silent if they assert it; police have free reign to use drug-sniffing dogs as “search warrants on leashes,” justifying any and all police searches of vehicles stopped on the roadside; police can forcibly take your DNA, whether or not you’ve been convicted of a crime; police can stop, search, question and profile citizens and non-citizens alike; police can subject Americans to virtual strip searches, no matter the “offense”; police can break into homes without a warrant, even if it’s the wrong home; and it’s a crime to not identify yourself when a policeman asks your name.
The cases the Supreme Court refuses to hear, allowing lower court judgments to stand, are almost as critical as the ones they rule on. Some of these cases have delivered devastating blows to the rights enshrined in the Constitution.
By remaining silent, the Court has affirmed that: legally owning a firearm is enough to justify a no-knock raid by police; the military can arrest and detain American citizens; students can be subjected to random lockdowns and mass searches at school; police officers who don’t know their actions violate the law aren’t guilty of breaking the law; trouble understanding police orders constitutes resistance that justifies the use of excessive force; and the areas immediately adjacent to one’s apartment can be subjected to warrantless police surveillance and arrests.
Make no mistake about it: when such instances of abuse are continually validated by a judicial system that kowtows to every police demand, no matter how unjust, no matter how in opposition to the Constitution, one can only conclude that the system is rigged.
By refusing to accept any of the eight or so qualified immunity cases before it last year that strove to hold police accountable for official misconduct, the Supreme Court delivered a chilling reminder that in the American police state, “we the people” are at the mercy of law enforcement officers who have almost absolute discretion to decide who is a threat, what constitutes resistance, and how harshly they can deal with the citizens they were appointed to ‘serve and protect.”
This is how qualified immunity keeps the police state in power.
Lawyers tend to offer a lot of complicated, convoluted explanations for the doctrine of qualified immunity, which was intended to insulate government officials from frivolous lawsuits, but the real purpose of qualified immunity is to rig the system, ensuring that abusive agents of the government almost always win and the victims of government abuse almost always lose.
How else do you explain a doctrine that requires victims of police violence to prove that their abusers knew their behavior was illegal because it had been deemed so in a nearly identical case at some prior time?
It’s a setup for failure.
A review of critical court rulings over the past several decades, including rulings affirming qualified immunity protections for government agents by the U.S. Supreme Court, reveals a startling and steady trend towards pro-police state rulings by an institution concerned more with establishing order, protecting the ruling class, and insulating government agents from charges of wrongdoing than with upholding the rights enshrined in the Constitution.
Worse, as Reuters concluded, “the Supreme Court has built qualified immunity into an often insurmountable police defense by intervening in cases mostly to favor the police.”
For those in need of a reminder of all the ways in which the Supreme Court has made us sitting ducks at the mercy of the American police state, let me offer the following.
To sum it up, we are dealing with a nationwide epidemic of court-sanctioned police violence carried out with impunity against individuals posing little or no real threat.
For those deluded enough to believe that they’re living the American dream-where the government represents the people, where the people are equal in the eyes of the law, where the courts are arbiters of justice, where the police are keepers of the peace, and where the law is applied equally as a means of protecting the rights of the people-it’s time to wake up.
Given the turbulence of our age, with its government overreach, military training drills on American soil, domestic surveillance, SWAT team raids, asset forfeiture, wrongful convictions, profit-driven prisons, corporate corruption, COVID mandates, and community-wide lock-downs, the need for a guardian of the people’s rights has never been greater.

A video out of the UK shows a man being arrested outside a Starbucks for not wearing a mask while asking police officers where they were during multiple Black Lives Matter demonstrations and riots during which coronavirus rules were ignored.
“It takes two of you to arrest a 72-year-old man, what a pair of fucking heroes,” the man states as he is being cuffed.
“Bet you lot weren’t up in London for the fucking BLM,” he adds, before telling officers, “I don’t like being told I’ve got to wear a mask!”
The man then asks the officers if they bowed for BLM.
“This is what’s going to happen to all of you soon, you’re all gonna be under a bloody dictatorship.in about 6 months time you’ll all be getting this!” the man tells observers.

Many folks love this quote. It is called when people are asked to make Jesus their Savior and Lord. But the situation is very different. Jesus was speaking to a church that had turned its back on permanent things in order to focus on temporary ones. In doing this, the followers’ connection to Jesus had been forgotten. They were actually spirituallydead and barren, but they thought everything was fine.
Jesus compared water to temperature. Cold can make you feel better, and hot can make you feel better, but lukewarm doesn’t do either. The city that this church was in got its water from a hot spring. It was warm, but not hot, by the time it got to the city. This was an easy comparison for the church to understand. Jesus wanted to rekindle their friendship with Him and fill them with joy over their salvation all over again.
Maybe you haven’t given the Lord a chance to speak to your heart in a while. You can’t stay cold when you let yourself hear His words. In the Middle East, eating together was a way to be with others and share one’s life. Inviting Jesus to dinner requires planning and time.
Think about this: We need to spend time with the Lord regularly so we don’t become dull. Why not open that door right now and spend some time with Jesus?

Revelations from a new book, Peril, by Bob Woodward and Rob Costa, reveal just how deep the spiritual rot in the military goes. In the days after the January 6 protest, General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, promised, in the event of a war, to give aid and comfort to China. According to the Washington Post, after the Capitol protest, Milley sent secret communiques to the head of the People’s Liberation Army, promising that “If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.”
In a decent country such a brazen act of collusion with a foreign power by one of the most prominent leaders of the armed forces would be met with immediate and unrelenting backlash. Instead, this betrayer of the Constitution and the principle of civilian leadership of the military is a liberal darling. At the inauguration, Joe Biden thanked Milley for undermining President Trump in the final weeks of his presidency.
Milley, before reaching out to China, sat down with the service’s top officers and demanded from them what amounted to an oath—none of them would launch a nuclear weapon without his approval. The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff went behind the President’s back to secure control over the nation’s most important weapons.
Our generals are losers abroad, and grifters at home. They parrot MSNBC talking points on Twitter and grovel before Fauci. This is bad enough. But Milley’s actions show that America’s top military officers have reached another level of delusion. They fancy themselves a new praetorian guard to protect the nation—as construed by elite editorial boards—from the people’s elected representatives.
The military establishment is gloating now and flexing its muscle. After the election, outgoing Syria envoy Jim Jeffrey admitted that the Pentagon and State Department had consistently lied to Trump about troop levels in Syria. Before he left office, Trump’s order to have troops out of Afghanistan by January 15 was overruled by the establishment. Trump, far from trying to start a war on his way out of office, sought to end one.
White House spokesperson Jen Psaki claims that Milley was following “constitutional orders to prevent unlawful military actions.” According to her, Trump “was implementing an insurrection.” The claim that Trump wished to start a war to distract from the election, upon which Milley based his collusion with the Chinese government, was an utter lie. Nor was Trump implementing an insurrection; the FBI has dispensed with this myth, finding that there was no coordinated plot associated with the Capitol riot.
There will be no hearings, serious journalistic investigations, or outcry from the establishment.
Milley will go unpunished.
He will retire with full honors and full pension.
The Pentagon will never reform itself from the inside.
The entire military-industrial complex (MIC) must be dismantled if we are ever to have again an armed forces consistent with the Founders’ republican virtues.
The AmericanRight must be willing to starve the Pentagon of its lifeblood. The most important asset the people have is their bodies. Americanmothers and fathers need to stop feeding their children into the machine. Heartland American boys and girls have better things to do and better leaders to serve under. The American people must go on strike until the generals once again learn to subordinate themselves to the people.
GOPpoliticians must assist their constituents in this noble task. They must find real courage and demand radical institutional change. This starts with deep and abiding budget cuts for the Pentagon and the rest of the MIC. The Founders’ distrust of permanent standing armies must be restored.
America should once again rely on true citizen soldiers for national defense.
The world has changed. America’s grand strategy must change with it. Our current conventional force cannot defeat insurgencies anyway. The proliferation of nuclear weapons, on the other hand, means that “Great Power conflict” is virtually impossible. There is no need to keep buying weapons systems designed to fight a redux of WWII. Our bases overseas are a relic of the liberal humanitarian world order. Having 20,000 troops in Okinawa didn’t prevent the Chinese Communist Party from using Twitter bots to stir up hysteria over Covid. Our dozen aircraft carriers didn’t stop our politicians from implementing lockdowns and vaccine passports. America’s air bases in Turkey, Germany, and Diego Garcia didn’t keep the Taliban from retaking control of their country.
America was never the world’s policeman. An empire in the name of democracy and freedom was always an idiotic idea.
Widespread gun ownership is a much better guarantor of American liberty than any SEAL team or aircraft carrier. The Militia Act of 1792 is a much better model for national defense than our current setup. The act enrolled every able-bodied male citizen between the ages of 18 and 45 into the militia. It also demanded that each of these men provide themselves with a “good musket or firelock” and “a sufficient bayonet.” Far from trying to take away firearms, the Founders demanded every American male citizen possess one.
Self-sufficiency in arms is the foundation of liberty, national sovereignty, and independence. Tyrannies never arm their citizens; republics always do. Our security as a nation should not depend on over-hyped “super soldiers.” The “silent professionals” with their podcasts, book deals, and TV appearances play, in the grand scheme of things, only a very minor role in protecting the life, liberty, and property of the American people.
The unmitigated corruption in the leadership of the armed forces is a sign of deep cultural rot. The patriotic flag-waving of the post-9/11 response has been used to great harm against the American people. An unwillingness by the political class to criticize and hold accountable those charged with defending the nation has led to our current spiritual crisis. America can’t win overseas, her generals sell out her leaders to foreign powers, and the retired members of this elite class do nothing but gobble up fat checks from the corporations they once purchased from. This is an untenable state of affairs.
