Southwest To Comply With Biden Vaccine Kill Shot Order, Ignore Texas Ban

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines will ignore a Texas Executive Order prohibiting any entity from imposing Covid-19 vaccine mandates on employees or customers.

Instead, the beleaguered airline will comply with a yet-to-be issued Biden federal mandate which requires that government employees and contractors get vaccinated, according to CEO Gary Kelly in a Tuesday interview with CNBC.

I’ve never been in favor of corporations imposing that kind of a mandate. I’m not in favor that. Never have been,” Kelly told “Squawk on the Street,” adding “But the executive order from President Biden mandates that all federal employees and then all federal contractors, which covers all the major airlines, have to have a [vaccine] mandate … in place by December the 8th, so we’re working through that.”

Southwest CEO blames Biden for vax mandate: “I’m not in favor of that, never have been. In addition to federal workers and contractors, President Biden announced a mandate last month which requires companies with 100 or more employees to ensure that their workforce is vaccinated or tested regularly. The Labor Department has yet to release details of the emergency rule, however Biden encouraged companies to ‘act now’ and not to wait for the requirement to go into effect.

Another lie. There is no federal vaccine mandate. There’s no executive order, no federal regulation. It was a press release. https://t.co/6Uub9qDSMO— Sean Davis (@seanmdav) October 12, 2021

In response, Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order on Monday which prohibits any entity – including private businesses, from imposing vaccine mandates on either employees or customers.

“The COVID-19 vaccine is safe, effective, and our best defense against the virus, but should remain voluntary and never forced,” said Abbott in a statement. The rule follows several executive orders Abbott issued over the summer banning local governments and school districts from mask or vaccination mandates – with $1,000 fines for those who fail to comply.

Last week, Southwest announced that its 56,000-person workforce would need to be fully vaccinated with the Covid-19 jab by Dec. 8 in order to remain employed – an announcement which came days after other carriers (including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue Airways) announced similar measures, according to CNBC.

Doubling down on the airline’s claim that widespread flight disruptions over the past four days weren’t related to an employee protest over the mandate, Kelly blamed “absenteeism” – which, we’re quite frankly

We can’t believe CNBC didn’t ask Kelly, if that’s true, where this flag came from.

Update: 10/11/21 at 12:05 PM Goldman Sachs Leaving TX Business Over Gun Law — Good Riddance You Hypocrite, Known Con Fraud Bankster …

Goldman Sachs Group is pulling back on municipal bond investments in Texas following the state’s adoption of a law that bars state and local governments from working with banks that discriminate against firearms/ammunition manufacturers.

The law is contained in Senate Bill 19. In the Spring of 2021, when SB19 was being considered, the Dallas Morning News reported that it requires financial companies “with 10 employees or more seeking a government contract worth at least $100,000 would have to verify in writing that they do not have a policy or directive that “discriminates” against the firearms or ammunition industries.”

Bill sponsor Sen. Charles Schwertner (R) said, “Any company that uses financial pressure in order to limit Texans’ ability to purchase guns or ammunition should not be tolerated.”

Yahoo Finance notes that Goldman Sachs is pulling back on municipal bond purchases in Texas as a result of the law.

On October 1, 2021, Bloomberg pointed out that neither Citigroup Inc., Bank of America, or J.P. Morgan Chase have “managed a single municipal-bond sale in the state” since SB19 took effect on September 1.

Bloomberg indicated JP-Morgan decided “it can no longer bid for most municipal-debt business in Texas due to the law.”

For those wondering how life under a strict Covid pass looks, keep reading – as Lithuanian citizen Gluboco Lietuva (@gluboco) describes the hell he and his wife are currently living due to their decision not to get vaccinated.

My country of Lithuania has imposed very severe measures against people who do not have a Covid Pass.

How severe?

• You’re banned from large supermarkets.
• Banned from non-essential stores.
• Banned from restaurants.

And a lot more.

Here’s what has happened:

1/ pic.twitter.com/aO7xN2WoZO— Gluboco Lietuva (@gluboco) September 23, 2021

(Continued via threadreaderapp):

Lithuania is a small EU country of 2.8 million people.

Lithuania introduced a Covid Pass in May. It’s called the “Opportunity Pass”. The Opportunity Pass allows you the opportunity to participate in society. Without the Opportunity Pass, you don’t have opportunity: your rights are restricted.

The government app shows the fun you’ll have participating in the opportunities of society if you have the Opportunity Pass. There is no illustration of life for people without the Pass.

In August, Lithuania passed a law to restrict the rights of people who don’t have the Covid Pass. Other countries are moving in that direction. In Lithuania, it’s already in force: all restrictions are already fully effective, and enforcement is strict.

Without a Pass, you may not enter any shopping center or large supermarket. At the entrances, people queue in line to be verified. Guards scan the Pass of each person. If you have a valid Pass, the light flashes green and beeps. Then you may enter. No Pass, no entrance.

Without a Pass, you may only shop in small stores which mainly sell food, pharmaceuticals, glasses and contact lenses, veterinary goods, or farming supplies. You may not enter stores which mainly sell other products.

Without a Pass, you may not enter any restaurant, cafe, or bar. Without a Pass, you may not enter banks or insurance companies, except for essential purposes – e.g., pensions or social benefits – where the service lasts no longer than 15 minutes.

Without a Pass, you may not visit patients in medical facilities or senior care/residential homes. The only exception is for terminally-ill patients and children under 14 years of age, if the doctor gives advance permission.

Without a Pass, you may not enter indoor public events or spaces, such as conferences, fitness centers, or beauty services like hair and nails.

The Pass is in the form of a QR code. Most people get it on their phones thru e-banking/e-signature. Those without phones can get a paper printout.

Officials launched a re-vaccination program in September. Seniors began receiving third dose boosters last week. The whole population will follow afterwards. The Vice-Minister of Health stated: “We are likely to start the fourth and fifth booster shots in several months.”

My country was occupied by the USSR, 1944-1990. We fought for – and won – independence. Hundreds of thousands of people took real risks opposing Soviet tyranny. On one day, 30% of the entire population joined hands to form a 675-km chain in support of freedom.

Our population now is apathetic about losing freedoms previous generations fought for.

We battled Soviet propaganda and “Show me your documents!” authoritarianism, only to acquiesce to media-led propaganda and technocratic health authoritarianism of “Show me your Covid Pass!”

Principled Covid Pass opposition is caricatured as conspiracy-theorist, anti-vaxxer. Honest debate is dismissed. Mainstream leaders – politicians, officials, media, educated elite – openly wish death upon opponents of the Pass “so we can finally end this pandemic”.

Under Soviet occupation, political dissent was suppressed, news was censored. Now, we’ve returned to a regime of censorship – this time, enforced by mob rule rather than government. Principled opponents don’t speak freely. Fear of the mob makes people censor themselves.

By my count, 14 of the 27 EU countries now have domestic Covid Pass restrictions. But Lithuania is much further along than most. Other countries are planning restrictions such as broad bans on supermarkets and all non-essential shopping. Here, it’s already reality.

The current reality in Lithuania foreshadows the future that faces other countries if they continue down the path of Covid Pass restrictions: Europe, the US, the UK, Australia, Canada…

To me, this should be a global news headline:

“Lithuania bans citizens from society. Other EU countries following soon.”

But there’s virtually no reporting in English about this massive change in society. Or about the hatred and de-humanization which has resulted. My wife and I have 2 kids. She’s pregnant with our third. We’re very ordinary. Not important, not connected. Together we earn 3000 eur/month: not rich, not poor. My favorite activity is foraging wild mushrooms in the forest with my family (the chanterelles are heavenly!)

I’ve never cared about politics before Covid. Never been to a protest in my life. Never been involved in activism. In short, I’m not political. But I am moral. And the Covid Pass regime is a deep moral wrong.

My wife and I refuse to be caricatured as crazed anti-vaxxers. We are not illiterate, innumerate, or anti-science. We do not believe in conspiracy theories. Vaccines have saved millions of lives: smallpox, polio, measles… And Covid vaccination can be beneficial for many people. It’s a personal medical decision for each individual in consultation with a doctor. What we strongly oppose is the coercion of the Covid Pass regime.

There are legitimate reasons for restricting the rights of citizens when society itself could be destroyed. Covid is a deadly disease. But it is not an existential threat which justifies ripping apart our society. The Covid Pass regime is vindictive, intended to punish. In just a few months, the new rules have turned my country into a two-tier society of discrimination and hate. Restriction by restriction, it is shredding the bonds that hold us all together in one society.

My wife and I have lost our rights as citizens. We are not allowed to shop, eat out, get our hair cut, or go to the bank, gym, or library. We were both suspended from our jobs. This is deeply wrong.

Our leaders encourage hatred of us. Our countrymen openly wish for our death. And it’s all amplified by the media and cheered on by likes and retweets. This is deeply wrong.

Othering. Discrimination. Blame for disease. Accusation of wartime betrayal. Incitement. Hatred. Persecution. This is not a history textbook. This is the reality of life for my family in 2021. Our humanity has been erased. This is wrong. So deeply, deeply wrong.

There is a lot of fear around us, and fear leads to anger. But we shouldn’t let that fear control us. We shouldn’t let that fear make us forget who we are as individuals. A mob may say that people without a Covid Pass should be banished from society. A mob may wish for hate and death. But as individuals, people would never accept this de-humanization of their families, friends, and neighbors.

In Lithuania, the Covid Pass is already a reality. But other countries around the world are very quickly moving down the same path. Lithuania’s Covid Pass regime is a harbinger of what will happen everywhere if enough people don’t unite in principled opposition. With this message, I hope to reach people not as a mob, but as individuals.

I hope to show people – as individuals – the reality of life in a Covid Pass regime. Because I hope – and truly believe – that as individuals, we will recognize the inhumanity and unite to stop it. I’m not social media savvy. I only joined Twitter this week solely to share info on the Covid Pass regime. I don’t want recognition, money, or credit. My only goal is to reach people with this message.

I’m just an ordinary man trapped in a Kafkaesque world of mind-numbing absurdity. So I’d be grateful for your help to share this message so that together, we can unite to stop this madness. And then I can forget about Covid Pass regimes and get back to my wild mushrooms.🙂 If you want to know more, I wrote a detailed article about Lithuania’s Covid Pass regime and its effects on my family. The article contains my contact info as well as links to government websites for verification of all restrictions described here. Source: ZeroHedge HNewsWire HNewsWire

Update: 10/1/21 at 2:05 PM BofA, Citi, JP Morgan All Blocked From Texas Muni Market Over Anti-Gun Virtue-Signaling

It turns out JPMorgan is not alone.

As we noted below, the new Texas law is hitting all the bulge bracket, virtue-signaling banks.

Bloomberg reports that since the Republican-backed law took effect on Sept. 1, neither Bank of America, Citigroup, or JPMorgan has managed a single municipal-bond sale in the state.

These 3 banks were the biggest underwriters (and therefore fee takers) in 2020…

All three banks have come out publicly to block and fundraising for gun-makers and that is what Texas Senate Bill 19 addresses, blocking government from working with companies that have a practice, policy, guidance or directive that “discriminates against a firearm entity or firearm trade association.”

  • In 2018, Bank of America said it would stop making new loans to companies that make military-style rifles for civilian use.
  • That same year, Citigroup said it would prohibit retailers that are customers of the bank from offering bump stocks or selling guns to people who haven’t passed a background check or are younger than 21.
  • JPMorgan Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon told a Congressional committee this year that his bank won’t finance gun companies that make military-style weapons for consumers.

Will they back down in the interest of fees? We highly doubt it.

*  *  *

Following Texas lawmakers’ decision to ban local government from working with Wall Street banks whose policies restrict the firearms industry, it appears JPMorgan is the first of the virtue-signaling banks to feel the pinch from the new law.

Earlier this year, JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon told a Congressional committee that his bank won’t finance gun companies that make military-style weapons for consumers.

In May, the Texas House of Representatives passed the bill that would block the state and local governments from contracting with banks and other financial-services companies that have policies that limit their work for the firearms or ammunition industries. The legislation reflected 2nd Amendment rights supporters’ furore over corporations pushing themselves into the increasingly divisive policies of America’s identity-politics wars.

And now, as Bloomberg reports, the first impact of the law is hitting Wall Street.

This week, JPMorgan was replaced by UBS as the underwriter of a bond issue for the Decatur authority, an arm of a 7,000-person Texas city that operates Wise Health System.

In July, the agency had disclosed that it was planning to have JPMorgan serve as senior managing underwriter on a financing that could include the sale of up to $150 million of bonds.

The authority cited “uncertainty related to the implementation of new legislation passed by the State of Texas,” though it didn’t specify which law.

Texas’ fast-growing population has made it one of the biggest markets for the muni-bond business and more troubling for the banks in general is the fact that Texas-based issuers accounted for $58 billion of debt sales in 2020, the second-most of any state behind California, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

JPMorgan was credited with working on $3.6 billion of long-term municipal-bond deals in Texas in 2020, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Now that’s a lot of fees that JPMorgan, BofA, and Citi will be missing out on from here:

“While our business practices should permit us to certify, the legal risk associated with this ambiguous law prevents us from bidding on most business right now with Texas public entities,” Patricia Wexler, a spokesperson for the bank, said in an emailed statement.

Satan Soldier Biden’s Vax Mandate To Be Enforced By Fining Companies $70,000 To $700,000?

President Joe Biden didn’t just announce a Covid-19 vaccine mandate on companies employing 100 or more people, he plans to enforce it.

On Saturday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s House quietly tucked an enforcement mechanism into their $3.5 trillion “reconciliation” bill, passed it out of the Budget Committee, and sent it to the House floor.

Buried on page 168 of the House Democrats’ 2,465-page mega bill is a tenfold increase in fines for employers that “willfully,” “repeatedly,” or even seriously violate a section of labor law that deals with hazards, death, or serious physical harm to their employees.

The increased fines on employers could run as high as $70,000 for serious infractions, and $700,000 for willful or repeated violations—almost three-quarters of a million dollars for each fine. If enacted into law, vax enforcement could bankrupt non-compliant companies even more quickly than the $14,000 OSHA fine anticipated under Biden’s announced mandate.

The Biden Administration has already started implementing its vaccine mandate enforcement blueprint:

  • The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) set precedent this summer and published an emergency Covid-19 rule in the Federal Register taking jurisdiction over and providing justification for Covid-19 being a workplace hazard for healthcare employment.
  • Early in September, Biden announced his 100-or-more employee Covid-19 vaccine mandate and tasked OSHA with drafting an enforcement rule to exert emergency vaccine compliance authority over companies with 100 or more employees.
  • The legislative provision that passed the Budget Committee raises the OSHA fines for non-compliance 10 times higher – and up to $700,000 for each “willful” or “repeated” violation. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not announced when the House will vote on the reconciliation bill that includes the new OSHA fines.
  • If the legislation is enacted, OSHA could levy draconian fines to enforce Biden’s vaccine mandate, a move that could rapidly bankrupt non-compliant companies. The Biden mandate affects employers collectively employing an estimated 80 million workers.

The Democrats are playing hardball.

President Biden embraced an aggressive stance earlier this month when he challenged Republicans who are threatening lawsuits over what they decry as his federal overreach: “Have at it. … We’re playing for real here. This isn’t a game.”

The Legislation

The provision tucked in the House reconciliation budget bill (on page 168) that increases OSHA fines reads:

SEC. 21004. ADJUSTMENT OF CIVIL PENALTIES.

(a) OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ACT OF 1970.—Section 17 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (29 U.S.C. 666) is amended—

(1) in subsection (a)—

  (A) by striking ‘‘$70,000’’ and inserting ‘‘$700,000’’; and

(B) by striking ‘‘$5,000’’ and inserting ‘‘$50,000’’;

(2) in subsection (b), by striking ‘‘$7,000’’ and inserting ‘‘$70,000’’; and

(3) in subsection (d), by striking ‘‘$7,000’’ and inserting ‘‘$70,000’’

That provision would change existing law relating to OSHA’s enforcement fines, the very same section of law whose fines OSHA referenced in its June Covid-19 healthcare worker rule and is likely to use again to enforce its forthcoming vaccine compliance rules.

The Existing Law

29 U.S.C.§ 666 lays out OSHA enforcement fine levels. The 1970-enacted law reads:

29 U.S. Code § 666 – Civil and criminal penalties

(a) Willful or repeated violation Any employer who willfully or repeatedly violates the requirements of section 654 of this title, any standard, rule, or order promulgated pursuant to section 655 of this title, or regulations prescribed pursuant to this chapter may be assessed a civil penalty of not more than $70,000 for each violation, but not less than $5,000 for each willful violation

(b) Citation for serious violation Any employer who has received a citation for a serious violation of the requirements of section 654 of this title, of any standard, rule, or order promulgated pursuant to section 655 of this title, or of any regulations prescribed pursuant to this chapter, shall be assessed a civil penalty of up to $7,000 for each such violation [emphasis added].

Each year, OSHA adjusts these penalties for inflation, so for 2021, the fines are not actually capped at $70,000 and $7,000, but $136,532 and $13,653 per violation. If House Democrats get their way, by enacting the page 168 changes, those fines would increase to $700,000 for willful and repeated violations and $70,000 for serious violations.

Section 654, cross-referenced in the OSHA enforcement penalty code, outlines the law requiring workplaces to be “free from recognized hazards” causing harm or death:

29 U.S. Code § 654 – Duties of employers and employees

(a) Each employer

(1) shall furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees;

(2) shall comply with occupational safety and health standards promulgated under this chapter.

(b) Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to this chapter which are applicable to his own actions and conduct [emphasis added].

OSHA has already published a rule this year claiming Covid-19 is a workplace hazard, and the agency is using this provision of law to assert and enforce its authority. It is likely the new rule to enforce Biden’s mandate will also use this authority, and by extension use the fines upon enforcement.

Huge Crippling OSHA Fines, Likely By Design

The crippling change described on page 168 of the Democrats’ bill isn’t a typo or a clerical error. It was inserted by design and, likely, with the hope that no one would notice before Democrats ram the bill through Congress.

If enacted, it could bankrupt a whole host of companies that do not believe they should have to comply with the Biden administration’s mandate or harbor the cost of intrusive, weekly tests.

In its June 2021 emergency rule affecting health care workers, OSHA complained it was having a hard time motivating employers with its paltry $13,653 fine:

“OSHA has been limited in its ability to impose penalties high enough to motivate the very large employers who are unlikely to be deterred by penalty assessments of tens of thousands of dollars, but whose noncompliance can endanger thousands of workers …”

The Critics

Some have openly discussed businesses defying the mandate and taking their risks with OSHA fines. For example, Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) tweeted that businesses “should openly rebel” against any OSHA rule.

It’s one thing to defy a $14,000 fine. It’s quite another to risk incurring hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. One or two disgruntled employees, for example, could bring an employer $70,000-$140,000 in OSHA fines. If considered “willful,” as per Rep. Roy’s tweet — just three “violations” could quickly become a $2.1 million OSHA fine.

Conclusion:

If its provision becomes law, the Biden administration may force American businesses to choose between vaccinating their employees, testing them weekly for Covid-19, or going bankrupt under crippling OSHA fines.

In September, Biden warned the tens of millions of Americans who have declined vaccination against Covid-19, “We’ve been patient. But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us.”

Now the Democrats in the House are hoping to make employers foot the bill for that “cost” in the form of fines and bankruptcy.

Republicans might want to read page 168 of the Democrats’ bill. After all, as we like to say at OpenTheBooks.com, the text of the bill is online in real time. Source: ZeroHedge

Posted by Greg Abbott on Thursday, September 23, 2021

“Texas National Guard Soldiers deploy tactical vehicles to the border in support of Operation Lone Star,” Gov. Abbott’s post reads. “As Biden does nothing, the Lone Star State continues to surge manpower & equipment to put an end to the chaos at our southern border.”

While the federal government has kowtowed to the masses of migrants raging across the Rio Grande River, Gov. Abbot took action to protect the United States on September 19. He ordered the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety to form a vehicular barrier at the southern border that extends for miles. Breitbart Texas’s Bob Price documented miles of border fencing on September 21 that had been installed by the state in the past three months. Additionally, hundreds of police vehicles were observed heading south by Breitbart Texas.

“The State of Texas is taking unprecedented steps to secure the border, and we will continue to respond in full force to keep Texans safe,” Abbott informed reporters, including Breitbart Texas’s Bob Price on September 21. “The Biden Administration’s failure to enforce immigration laws and halt illegal crossings on a federal dam poses life-threatening risks to Texans and the migrants themselves.”

“The only thing they have shown is an incapability of dealing with this crisis, candidly in a way where they pretend it doesn’t even exist,” Abbott continued. “We’re here to tell you, it exists, it’s total chaos, and the Biden administration, they need to up their game big time.”

On September 21, President Biden acknowledged that the situation has become out of control after a reporter asked, “Mr. President, what is your reaction to the images coming from the southern border?”

“We will get it under control,” replied Biden.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the agency was working to remove migrants from the makeshift camp, but the camp did not see a downshift in migrants until Gov. Abbott moved to use the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety. Abbott was informed by Texas Department of Public Safety Southern Region Director Victor Escalon that joint efforts by the Texas DPS and National Guard were able to halt the flow of migrants, which allowed Mayorkas’s DHS to finally lessen the population of the camp.  Source: breitbart

NYC’s Demand That Diplomats Follow Vaccine Mandate Creates Uproar At UN

New York City’s (legally questionable) demand that all representatives and diplomats who attend next week’s UN General Assembly meeting show proof of vaccination is threatening to derail the annual summit of world leaders as Russia and China protest the fact that their locally developed vaccines won’t be accepted.

NYC’s request that diplomats and their entourage show proof of vaccination before being admitted somehow received the backing of General Assembly President Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid. In a statement released on Wednesday, NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio and International Affairs Commissioner Penny Abeywardena thanked UN diplomats ahead of time for “working with us”, calling them “true New Yorkers”.

Unfortunately, not all diplomats are equally enthusiastic. In a letter to colleagues released on Wednesday, Russian UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya denounced these new requirements as “clearly discriminatory” and accused NYC and Shahid of violating the UN charter, which states that the UN is international territory.

In the face of Russia’s complaints, Mayor de Blasio doubled down: “If the Russian ambassador is against it, I’m for it.” So much for the spirit of international diplomacy.

Keep in mind, the biggest issue here isn’t that diplomats aren’t vaccinated. It’s that they’re vaccinated with jabs that haven’t been approved in the US.

Sputnik V, a vaccine backed by Moscow and widely administered in Russia, does not have approval in the United States and is not on the World Health Organization’s emergency use listing either.

To try and make everybody happy, NY officials have promised to dole out free doses of the single-dose J&J jab by the UN Headquarters in Midtown. But it’s not approved in all member states, either (though it has been approved by the WHO, even as questions about dangerous side effects linger).

To Mayor de Blasio, this amounts to a sufficient olive branch. “If their vaccine isn’t good enough, then they should go and use one of the other vaccines.”

With so many parties bristling at NYC’s attempt to exert sovereignty over a piece of supranational territory, it looks like NYC’s demands likely won’t be met. A statement from a UN spokesman said the UN has traditionally relied on an “honor system” and that they were working with “the sitting President of the A” to continue the honor system. Another spokesman said the letter from NYC authorities doesn’t specify any single vaccine for use, despite de Blasio’s comments about offering the JNJ jab.

There’s also the question of discrimination: only 2% of the nearly 6 billion jabs produced have reached Africa.

With hundreds of world leaders preparing to fly into New York City next week, there’s a chance for ructions that could disrupt, or maybe even delay, the start of the assembly. Source: ZeroHedge HNewsWire

France Accuses “Backstabbing” Biden Of Being ‘Worse Than Trump’ As UK-Aussie Defense Pact Sinks Sub Deal

As it turns out, while President Biden was celebrating yesterday’s “historic” security pact between the US, UK and Australia to establish a “partnership” that will help furnish Canberra with US nuclear submarine technology, one American ally was sulking in defeat.

Back in 2016, Australia had signed $40 billion contract with France’s Naval Group to build a new submarine fleet to replace the Aussie’s aging fleet of Collins subs. But apparently, the new deal with the US and UK makes this deal unnecessary (since Australia will now be getting its subs from the US, not France), essentially stealing a major $40 billion deal out of the mouth of the French defense industry.

Understandably, France wasn’t pleased. And in his first comments on the deal, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told franceinfo radio that President Biden had just pulled a “Trump-like” double-cross against a major American ally – all while claiming to be “rebuilding” America’s ties with its European allies, which (according to Biden and the Democrats) had been hopelessly damaged by President Trump’s demand that Europe simply pay its fair share for its defense.

“This brutal, unilateral and unpredictable decision reminds me a lot of what Mr Trump used to do,” Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian told franceinfo radio. “I am angry and bitter. This isn’t done between allies.”

“It’s a stab in the back. We created a relationship of trust with Australia and that trust has been broken,” Le Drian said.

Just two weeks ago, the Australian defense and foreign ministers had reconfirmed the sub deal with France, and French President Emmanuel Macron even went so far as to publicly celebrate decades of future cooperation when hosting Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in June. Now, especially in the eyes of his own defense industry, he is being left with egg on his face.

President Trump had a famously hot-cold relationship with French President Emmanuel Maron. But after this, diplomats who opted to remain anonymous are telling Reuters that the latest deal could further damage the US relationship with France, potentially leaving it at its most frosty point since the “freedom fries” backlash during the beginning of the war in Iraq.

Already, the French are playing damage control with French Defense Minister Florence Parly holding a news conference thursday to say that “we will make sure ti limit the consequences” of Australia’s contract breach. “We will defend our interests,” he added.

Unfortunately for France, the embarrassment doesn’t stop at the submarines. France is preparing to take the EU’s rotating presidency, and as such has been playing a major role in negotiating a security pact with the Aussies. Now, it’s not even clear if that will be neccessary.

Meanwhile, confronted with France’s displeasure, President Biden has awkwardly pledged to continue working “closely” with France as a “key partner” in the Indo-Pacific.

More Than Half Of US States Vow To Fight Biden’s Vaccine Mandate

Update: 9/16/21 Twenty-seven Republican governors or attorneys general have vowed to fight the latest executive order issued by President Joe Biden mandating that over 80 million private employees receive COVID vaccinations or undergo weekly testing, or their employer will be fined.

The executive order directs the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to require private businesses with more than 100 employees mandate that their workers receive both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine or undergo weekly testing. Noncompliance would result in fines of $14,000 per violation.

The governors who’ve expressed opposition include those from Arizona, Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Republican attorneys general from states with Democratic governors who also vowed to fight include Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Louisiana AG Jeff Landry.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, with whom Biden has sparred over mask mandates and vaccine passports, said Florida would fight back.

“When you have a president like Biden issuing unconstitutional edicts against the American people, we have a responsibility to stand up for the Constitution and to fight back, and we are doing that in the state of Florida,” he said.

“This is a president who has acknowledged in the past he does not have the authority to force this on anybody, and this order would result potentially in millions of Americans losing their jobs.”

Texas, which is already embroiled in several lawsuits with the Biden administration, vowed to sue. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said after hearing Biden’s announcement that “Texas is already working to halt this power grab” and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said Texas would be suing the Biden administration “very soon.”

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson said, “OSHA cannot dictate personal health care decisions for Missourians. Missouri is not under an OSHA state plan, and Parson will not allow state employees to be used to enforce this unconstitutional action.”

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster vowed to fight Biden, saying, “The American Dream has turned into a nightmare under President Biden and the radical Democrats. They have declared war against capitalism, thumbed their noses at the Constitution, and empowered our enemies abroad. Rest assured, we will fight them to the gates of hell to protect the liberty and livelihood of every South Carolinian.”

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey said, “Governors don’t report to Joe Biden. Governors don’t report to the federal government, the states created the federal government, and Joe Biden has stepped out of his reach,” Ducey said. “These mandates are outrageous. They will never stand up in court. We must and will push back.”

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita indicated he was working with a group of AGs to file a lawsuit. “My team and I, along with other like-minded attorneys general, are reviewing all legal action on how to stand against these authoritarian actions by the Biden administration,” he said in a statement.

The Republican National Committee also announced it was suing “to protect Americans and their liberties” if the proposed rule change were to go into effect.

In response to Republican pushback, White House senior adviser Cedric Richmond, a former Democratic congressman from Louisiana, told CNN the White House expected the opposition.

He said, “… those governors that stand in the way, I think, it was very clear from the president’s tone today that he will run over them. And it is important. It’s not for political purposes. It’s to save the lives of American people. And so, we won’t let one or two individuals stand in the way. We will always err on the side of protecting the American people.”

Update: 9/15/21 Gen. Mark A. Milley, Took It Upon Himself to Reach Out to Our Greatest Potential Rival, China, and Offer to Give Them Advance Warning of U.S. Military Action Directed Against Them

Though far from the only violation of Milley’s oath of office revealed in the article, that is enough to warrant the president immediately relieving Milley of duty.

The Post article provided excerpts ahead of the release of the upcoming book “Peril” by Bob Woodard and Robert Costa chronicling the final act of the Trump presidency and the first six months of the Biden Administration. The most explosive revelation from the excerpt was the claim that Milley bypassed the White House and took it on his own to engage with the commanding general of the Chinese military.

According to Woodward and Costa, Milley feared China might believe Trump would order the United States to attack. Instead of voicing concerns to the President, instead recommending actions that might assuage Beijing of such fears, Milley took matters into his own hands.

He called – without the knowledge of the president or Secretary of State – the commanding general of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. According to Woodward and Costa, Milley told his counterpart,

“General Li, you and I have known each other for now five years. If we’re going to attack, I’m going to call you ahead of time. It’s not going to be a surprise.”

For those who don’t like Trump thought his policy judgment was flawed, Milley could come across as a hero, as one who protected the country from an awful fate.

That would be shortsighted, however, and miss the true danger of allowing generals to take such powers upon themselves.

First, to the point itself, there is no evidence presented that Trump intended, much less took action to engage in a war with China, only that Milley was afraid he might. Thus, the Chairman took action by talking to our chief adversary for something that would never have happened.

Secondly, once a precedent has been set whereby a general or senior ranking official can get away with going rogue in defiance of a president, there is no going back – and would not be limited to one political party. Take a scenario related to the issue of Taiwan, for example.

Within the U.S. military and foreign policy establishment, there are roughly two schools of thought on the possibility that China might make good on its threat to unify the island by force. One is that Washington should actually give security guarantees to Taipei and defend them at all costs if China attacks. The other argues that fighting China over Taiwan is foolish, that the U.S. likely couldn’t win a war near China’s borders, and that in a worst-case scenario, the war could turn nuclear, killing millions of Americans. If Beijing does the unthinkable and does attack, Biden would be faced with a horrible dilemma.

Make good on the implied commitment to defend Taiwan and risk a nuclear war, or allow China to successfully take Taiwan, giving some the impression of American weakness. Whichever choice Biden made, he would be guaranteed to have fierce opponents at the highest levels of the Pentagon to his decision.

Woodward and Costa claim that Milley took action because it was “a good-faith precaution,” to ensure there was, “no accidental war with China or others, and no use of nuclear weapons.”

If Biden chose to go to war with China over Taiwan, what is to prevent Milley – or any of the other high-ranking generals who have the same strongly-held views – from again acting on his “good faith” belief that he has to prevent war with China and actively subverts the president’s decision?

Chillingly, even that might not be the worst outcome.

The idea of a military coup in America has always been considered so improbable that few would ever take the threat seriously. But acts like these Milley has taken move us dangerously close to a place where some officers in the future might consider it. They would, no doubt, be acting in what they believe to be the best interests of the country, regarding the decisions of a civilian president as representing a danger to the nation, and seize control by removing the president from power.

We fool ourselves if we don’t think that could happen in America. If we allow this continued insubordination of our top military leaders against our duly elected civilian leaders – regardless of whether we agree or strongly oppose any given policy – to succeed, we run the risk of paralyzing our government in a moment of crisis or one day suffering a coup. To forestall that possibility, we need to stop this trend dead in its tracks now.

Milley must be relieved of duty. Today. Source: ZeroHedge

Federal Judge Blocks New York State Health Care Worker Vaccination Mandate

For I Have Come to Turn ‘A Man Against His Father, a Daughter Against Her Mother, a Daughter-in-Law Against Her Mother-in-Law. A Man’s Enemies Will Be the Members of His Own Household, Matthew 10:35

Update: 9/14/21 Federal Judge Blocks New York State Health Care Worker Vaccination Mandate

A federal judge on Tuesday granted an emergency injunction blocking the state of New York from enforcing a new CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus vaccine mandate for healthcare workers.

Seventeen medical health professionals had asked the court to enjoin enforcement of New York’s mandate that then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Aug. 16. The mandate required staff at hospitals and long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, adult care facilities, and other congregate care settings, be vaccinated for COVID-19 to continue to be employed.

The plaintiffs, including doctors, nurses, a medical technician, and a physician’s liaison, were facing termination, loss of hospital admitting privileges, and the destruction of their careers unless they consent to be vaccinated with vaccines in contradiction of their religious beliefs, the lawsuit argued.

Their religious beliefs compelled the plaintiffs “to refuse vaccination with the available COVID-19 vaccines, all of which employ aborted fetus cell lines in their testing, development, or production,” according to court documents.

The health care employees argued that the vaccine mandate would nullify protections for sincere religious beliefs under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, even though the prior state health order in effect just days earlier had afforded the same protections.

“What New York is attempting to do is slam shut an escape hatch from an unconstitutional vaccine mandate,” attorney Christopher Ferrara, Thomas More Society special counsel, said in a statement before the injunction was granted.

“And they are doing this while knowing that many people have sincere religious objections to vaccines that were tested, developed, or produced with cell lines derived from aborted children.”

Judge David Hurd of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, a Bill Clinton appointee, granted a temporary restraining order the morning of Sept. 14 in the case. The lawsuit was brought against New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D).

“The vaccine mandate is suspended” and the New York Department of Health “is barred from taking any action, disciplinary or otherwise, against the licensure, certification, residency, admitting privileges or other professional status or qualification of any of the plaintiffs on account of their seeking or having obtained a religious exemption from mandatory COVID-19 vaccination,” Hurd’s order states.

Ferrara learned the court injunction was granted while he was being interviewed over the telephone by The Epoch Times.

Asked if he was pleased by the ruling, Ferrara laughed, “Are you kidding me?” Source: ZeroHedge

Massachusetts Activates National Guard To Bus School Children After Vax Mandate Staffing Shortages

Amid fresh national, state and local vaccine mandates being driven forward by the Biden administration, schools and public services have clearly been most immediately hit by personnel shortages as a large chunk of the population remains ‘vaccine hesitant’ – or refuses to be forced into a mandated Covid vaccine, or perhaps are also already immune through a prior infection. Other staff are said to fear catching coronavirus from the largely unvaccinated student population.

States like Massachusetts are now struggling with public school staffing shortages to the point that children literally can no longer take the bus to school as there aren’t enough drivers. The large school district of Boston, for example, admitted at the start of the school year that the vaccine requirement would inevitably result in drivers staying home. “City leaders say part of the reason for the shortage in Boston is that some drivers are not vaccinated, which is a requirement,” a local report underscored.Image source: US Air Force

Now the state is having to take drastic action and even greater intervention in the crisis, with Republican Governor Charlie Baker on Monday activating the Massachusetts National Guard in order to get school transportation up and running.

An official statement from Gov. Baker’s office said “The Governor’s order makes up to 250 personnel available. Beginning with training on Tuesday, 90 Guard members will prepare for service in Chelsea, Lawrence, Lowell, and Lynn.”

And further it said “These Guard personnel will be available to serve as drivers of school transport vans known as 7D vehicles to address staffing shortages in certain districts.” The 7D vehicles have been described as smaller than regular yellow school buses.

Baker sought to assure communities that “The Guard has a proven track record of success supporting civilian authorities. Their frequent side-by-side training with state and local first responders makes them well-suited for a variety of missions.”

Of course, the obvious question is whether uniformed national guardsmen might have bigger duties to be prepared for, such as defending the country and responding to state and national emergencies. The governor sought to address this, saying “The mission will not interfere with the Massachusetts National Guard’s ability to respond to and assist in emergencies within the Commonwealth.”

According to Axios, many school districts across the country are experiencing such transportation staffing shortages as vaccine mandates went into effect: “Schools across the country are experiencing a shortage of bus drivers, which has worsened during the coronavirus pandemic.” Axios highlighted further that “More than 80% of school districts reported having issued finding an adequate number of drivers.” Source: ZeroHedge

Biden and His Terrorist Group Of Satan Soldiers Will Advise The Administration To ‘Run Over’ GOP Governors Who Resist Vaccine Mandates

White House senior adviser Cedric Richmond said President Joe Biden is willing to “run over” any Republican governors who attempt to fight back against federal vaccine mandates.

After Biden unveiled a plan to impose either vaccination or frequent testing on over 80 million workers who are employed at companies that have 100 employees or more, Richmond told CNN that the White House is ready for GOP opposition.

“The one thing I admire about this president is the fact that we are always going to put people above politics. And we’re going to fight for those who really need our help,” Richmond, a former Democrat congressman from Louisiana, said in response to a question about governors resisting the mandate.

“And those governors that stand in the way, I think, it was very clear from the president’s tone today that he will run over them,” he said. “And it is important. It’s not for political purposes. It’s to save the lives of American people. And so, we won’t let one or two individuals stand in the way. We will always err on the side of protecting the American people.”

Richmond’s comment, however, raises questions about how the federal government plans to “run over” states, as the United States government is federalist and combines the central government with state and local governments.

A number of Republican governors on Thursday, following Biden’s speech, said they would resist the vaccine mandate. Should the federal government direct the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to impose testing or vaccine mandates on private employees, Biden will face an avalanche of lawsuits.

“My legal team is standing by ready to file our lawsuit the minute Joe Biden files his unconstitutional rule,” South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican, wrote in a Twitter post. “This gross example of federal intrusion will not stand.”

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, also a Republican, wrote that his administration will “pursue every legal option available” in order to halt what he called a “blatantly unlawful overreach.”

And Gov. Doug Ducey of Arizona said his state will “push back” against federal mandates, saying “Biden-Harris administration is hammering down on private businesses and individual freedoms in an unprecedented and dangerous way. This will never stand up in court.”

He wrote: “This dictatorial approach is wrong, un-American and will do far more harm than good. How many workers will be displaced? How many kids are kept out of classrooms? How many businesses fined? The vaccine is and should be a choice.”

Other than an order targeting private businesses, Biden also said he would mandate that all federal workers and contractors get the shot, mandate Medicare and Medicaid hospital staff to get vaccinated, and other mandates.

Portland Urges Imposition Of Sanctions Against Texas

Via Southfront.org,

The infamous U.S. sanction strategy in foreign policy now is now being used to ‘deal with’ internal issues

The controversial Texas law, that bans abortions as early as six weeks is now in effect.  It was signed into law back in May by Gov. Greg Abbott. It was widely criticized not only by women’s rights advocates, abortion activists and abortion providers, but also by other states’ officials.

The Portland City Council is going to consider to adopt an emergency resolution next week that will be aimed to ban goods and services from Texas, because of the new abortion law there.

The council will take up the emergency resolution on September 8.

On September 3, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler claimed the intent “to ban the city’s future procurement of goods and services from, and city employee business travel to, the state of Texas.”

It should be in effect until Texas “withdraws it unconstitutional ban on abortion or until it is overturned in court.”

“The Portland City Council stands unified in its belief that all people should have the right to choose if and when they carry a pregnancy and that the decisions they make are complex, difficult, and unique to their circumstances. Nearly 50 years ago, the Supreme Court ruled to protect safe, legal abortion. Late Wednesday night, the Supreme Court declined to block a Texas law banning abortions after only 6 weeks of pregnancy. This 5-4 decision allows Texas to outlaw an estimated 85% of all abortion procedures in the state.” – the mayor’s statement reads.

He also called on other U.S. leaders join Portland’s effort to punish the state of Texas.

Texas is one of the most conservative states in the U.S., which has not voted for a Democrat for president since 1976. The political split in the U.S. is deepening and the sides are close to using economic warfare.

Sweden Bans Travelers From Israel, One of the Most Vaccinated Nations

Sweden has reimposed entry restrictions for travelers from the US and five other countries, but will consider more lenient rules for vaccinated people.

The Swedish government today formally extended Sweden’s non-EU/EEA entry ban until October 31st, as The Local reported last week.

There are several exceptions to the ban including those traveling for specific reasons, as well as from certain countries, but on Thursday six countries were removed from the exempt list of “safe countries”: based on a rise in Covid-19 infections in those countries, from September 6th the entry ban will also apply to countries Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia, the United States, and Israel.

Israel is particularly notable, because while it has long been one of the most vaccinated countries in the world and boasts the highest percentage of population having received a third “booster” shot, at 25%, it is also the country where new latest wave of covid infections has just hit new all time highs.

That doesn’t necessarily mean all travel from those countries will be banned, as travelers may fall into another exempted category, such as traveling for urgent family reasons or if they have EU citizenship or a Swedish residence permit. The decision to reimpose restrictions on these six countries came from an EU recommendation.

Sweden currently makes no distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers when it comes to travel from outside the European Union, but the government hinted that further exemptions for vaccinated travellers “resident in certain third countries” may be on the way.

“There are a number of countries with which Sweden has close relations. There, the government will now investigate the possibility of exempting fully vaccinated residents in certain third countries,” Interior Minister Mikael Damberg told the TT news agency on Thursday.

“I am thinking primarily of the United Kingdom, but also the United States, even though the United States is more complex and many states have very different rules.”

Neither he nor the government’s statement on Thursday gave any indication as to when such exemptions may be introduced.

Sweden became the second European Union country to ban Israeli residents from entry due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in Israel, despite the country being one of the most vaccinated countries in the world.

Portugal on Wednesday became the first EU country to ban travel from Israel due to a rise in cases. Both countries are following the EU’s recommendation to remove Israel from its list of green countries.

Sweden also banned the entry of citizens from the United States, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro, and North Macedonia.

Interior Minister Mikael Damberg told news outlets that the sharp increases in COVID-19 cases in Israel, the United States, and other countries are the reason why they were removed from Sweden’s travel ban exemption. Despite Israel’s mass vaccination campaign, the virus has continued to spread, Damberg said.

Several Israeli politicians criticized the EU’s directive and Portugal’s mandate.

“Unfortunately, following the EU’s directive, according to which it was decided to remove Israel from the list of green countries, the Portuguese government aligned itself with [the EU’s recommendation] which prohibits entry from Israel to Portugal except for justified reasons,”  Itay Mor, the head of Zionist NGO Over The Rainbow Portugal, told YNET.

Interior Minister Mikael Damberg cited the sharp increases in coronavirus infections as the reason the countries were removed from the travel ban exemption, saying that despite Israel’s successful vaccination campaign, the country is still home to large groups of unvaccinated people that have allowed the outbreak to spread.

“We are troubled by this decision, all the more so because most Israelis have been vaccinated. At this stage, the EU should have recognized Israel’s vaccination certificates,” Mor added.

On Aug. 30, the European Union removed the United States, Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and others from its safe travel list. The list is nonbinding and countries are free to determine their own border policies.

“Non-essential travel to the EU from countries or entities not listed in Annex I is subject to temporary travel restriction. This is without prejudice to the possibility for member states to lift the temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the EU for fully vaccinated travelers,” the EU said in a statement at the time.

The United States doesn’t allow European citizens to visit the country freely, despite appeals from the EU. The United States also extended a moratorium on cross-border travel with Canada, as well as Mexico, despite Canada having rescinded travel restrictions for Americans and permanent residents who are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Israel over the weekend announced that individuals who have not received a third booster vaccine shot will not be able to use their vaccine passports.

Even though Israel is one of the most vaccinated countries on Earth against COVID-19, cases are rising. The small nation’s seven-day average for COVID-19 infections on Monday was over 1,000 per one million people, which is double the rate of numbers seen in the United States and the United Kingdom, according to Oxford University’s Our World in Data.
