Watchman’s Daily Devotional: The World Lives for the Night Where Darkness Hides Their Sin. the Darkness Prevents Them From Seeing What Is Coming

This line was written during Paul’s advice on how Christians should act while they were waiting for the Lord to come back. Paul had told them that the rest of the world would be shocked, but Christians would be ready. That’s because we are kids these days. It’s light where we walk. The world loves the night because it hides their sins. They can’t see what’s coming because it’s dark.

People who follow the Lord should look forward to the day He comes back and calls them to be with Him. Every day should feel like the last one. When the Lord comes back for us, we want to be busy with His work. The last thing we want is to be giving in to sin when that time comes.

That’s why Paul told the church in Thessalonica to be careful. In this case, it means not only not being drunk, but also taking the time we have very seriously. We protect ourselves with hope and love. People around the world see us as religious people who love each other. The hope of rescue keeps our heads safe. We look forward to the wonderful day when Jesus’ work in us is finished. When we wake up in the morning, we should always remember that today could be the day. When that time comes, I want Him to find me true to the call He gave me.

Think about this: I might not have tomorrow even if Jesus comes back in a hundred years. Luke 2:49 says, “I must be about my Father’s business.”

1 Thessalonians 5:8

8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
