Watchman: Daily Devotional, End-Time Demonic Activities in the Book of Revelation, Tribulation Now Playing Out
We are living in the end times. The exaltation of the satanic and demonic will grow worse, not better. The whole world will fall under Satan’s spell. “that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world” –Revelation 12:9 This includes the apostate churches and all those who trust in them.
The one-world religion described in Revelation 17:1–18 as “the great harlot” will be part of the end-times scenario. The term harlot is used throughout the Old Testament as a metaphor for false religion. The actual identity and makeup of the religion have been debated for centuries and has resulted in a number of different views among Bible commentators and theologians. There are convincing arguments for the one world religion being Catholicism, Islam, the New Age movement, or some form of religion not even invented yet, and an internet search will produce many more possibilities and theories. There is no doubt that some sort of one-world religion under the false prophet will be a part of the end times, perhaps made up of a number of different religions, sects, and isms that are around today.
Revelation 17:1–18 gives us several characteristics of the one-world religion. The false religion will dominate all the “peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues” of the earth (Revelation 1b, 15), meaning that it will have universal authority, no doubt given by the Antichrist, who rules the world at that time. Verses 2–3 describe the harlot as committing adultery with the “kings of the earth,” referring to the false religion’s influence among the world’s rulers and influential people. The reference to being drunk with the wine of her adulteries may refer to those who are drunk with the power they receive from worshiping the false god of the false religion. Satan frequently ensnares those whose lust for power drives them away from the worship of the true and living God. The alliances forged by the false religion will unite church and state as never before.
Pope and Imam Sign “One-World Religion” Covenant?
SRH: What is demonic affliction or oppression and how can we recognize it? Scripture teaches that believers are in a very real battle with the demonic world. In Ephesians 6:11-12, Paul said:
Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.
This struggle with demonic evil forces can take various forms. It can show up in the enemy’s efforts to stop our attempts to worship God and minister to others. In 1 Thessalonians 2:18, Paul said this about trying to minister to the Thessalonians: “For we wanted to come to you (I, Paul, in fact tried again and again) but Satan thwarted us.” It is not uncommon to experience multiple inconveniences and difficulties in preparing for a special ministry, such as preaching a sermon, putting together some type of retreat, outreach, or mission trip. Satan is always trying to thwart the works of God and his people.
When Christ was preparing to go to the cross, Satan spoke through Christ’s chief disciple, Peter, trying to dissuade him from dying on the cross and being resurrected. In response, Christ said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, because you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s” (Matt 16:23). As with Peter, sometimes Satan attempts to hinder the works of God through people, even well-meaning ones. We should not be surprised by criticism or attacks, even by church members. The enemy at times uses people to try to weaken the hands of those plowing in God’s field.
HNewsWire: CBS deleted its “ready to worship” tweet in response to the Satan-themed Grammy Awards performance. “This is going to be special,” Sam Smith, the non-binary “Unholy” singer, tweeted ahead of his demonic set with transgender singer Kim Petras that was sponsored by Pfizer.
…you can say that again,” CBS tweeted in response. “We are ready to worship!”
The bizarre tweet from the Paramount Global television broadcasting company immediately drew backlash.
“Did CBS just admit it worships Satan?” the Media Research Center tweeted Monday. CBS deleted its tweet later in the day Monday. “.@CBS has deleted their tweet after saying they’re “ready to worship” ahead Sam Smith’s Satanic Grammys performance,” Jillian Anderson tweeted.
CBS celebrated the historic win by Smith and Petras: Satan Soldier Kim Petras and Satan Soldier Sam Smith have become the first transgender and nonbinary winners of the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, respectively. The duo took home the award for their hit single, “Unholy,” which they also performed during the awards ceremony.
Satan Soldiers at CBS also tweeted “nothing tops moments like these!” with a photo of Petras in the demonic cage.
National radio host Todd Starnes said the disturbing performance “was further evidence of how Hollywood has surrendered to evil,” adding, “they openly worship the prince of darkness.”
It also received rebuke from Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA): Satan Soldiers over at Pfizer responded in a statement to Newsweek. “We sponsored the overall Grammy’s event, not any particular performance. Beyond that, we don’t comment on our efforts to raise awareness,” a Pfizer spokesperson said.
PRAY: Pray that Christian leaders around the world would not be influenced by the ambiguous language used for God in this document. Pray that a clear distinction would remain between the God of the Bible and Allah. Pray that the Roman Catholic Church would not continue to make statements equating God with Allah.
Verse 6 describes the harlot as being “drunk with the blood of the saints” and the blood of those who testify of Jesus. Whether they will be martyred at the hand of the Antichrist or by being systematically starved, believers who are on the earth during the tribulation will experience the wrath of the harlot and her power source, the Antichrist. Those who oppose the worldwide religion will be killed, and those who refuse to worship the Antichrist by accepting his mark will be unable to buy and sell, thereby making survival very difficult (Revelation 13:16–17).
Eventually, the harlot will lose favor with the Antichrist, who will want to receive the world’s worship for himself. He will not share the adoration of the world with the prophets and priests of the false religion, no matter how obsequious or fawning they may be. Once the Antichrist gains the world’s amazed attention by his miraculous return from the dead (Revelation 13:3, 12, 14), he will turn on the false religious system and destroy it, establishing himself as God. The deception, Jesus tells us, will be so great that, if it were possible, even the elect would fall for it (Matthew 24:24).

The Watchman
In the Bible, the Watchman is responsible for keeping watch and warning others of potential danger or impending judgment. The role is mentioned several times in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 33:6, God says to the prophet Ezekiel, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand."
